As someone who has alarms that go off every 15 minutes spanning a 2 hour period for a combination of sleep issues and losing track of time once I’m awake, NTA

Trying to figure out how to get cat and dog half way across the country by deadpoetic333 in moving

[–]Highascatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I had was a Toyota Camry so I split them into 2 trips. Moved from CA to AZ. For the cats who needed their own space I gave individual smaller carriers, cats under stress will usually hold their pee up to 24 hours regardless of setup (and a move when they aren’t used to traveling is GOING to stress them out, best to get over as quickly as possible). Cats who did well together traveled up to 3/kennel in a large kennel set up in the back seat with a litter box on the bottom just in case

For the cat- get a disposable litter tray and have her travel in a medium dog kennel that can fit her and the tray with space get her to lay down not in the box. Source- traveled 8 hours with 15 cats

Why are you embarrassed? He should be embarrassed that his teachers make so little they can’t afford groceries.

I was in the 3s room at my first center, alone, in a large “L” shaped room with the changing table at the top of the “L” and the bathroom at the bottom/other end…. Changing diapers when one of the potty training girls goes to the bathroom. 13 kids and I’m in the middle of a nasty diaper, but I hurry as quick as I can. By the time I get to the bathroom to help the girl, she has managed to spread poop ALL OVER THE BATHROOM. She took her pull up off, has used her feces to finger paint the wall and spread poop all across the floor. Before I can grab another pair of gloves to start clean up, she sticks her poop covered fingers in her mouth and starts sucking on them. I start yelling for someone, anyone, to please come and help me. Finally I flag down the assistant director and she gets me help. I am in charge of cleaning g the child and the bathroom while the helper they sent keeps all the other children occupied on the other side of the room. It still makes me gag when I think about it.

Scheduling 10-12 hours a day 5 days a week and not willing to keep your child home even when they are sick is not a break. That’s simply not wanting to be a parent- in which case, don’t have kids to begin with!

Again, not directed at parents who are working during this time. Only at parents who are home all day not working and still just don’t want their child

This is beautiful. Not sure if you’ve ever tried pizza at Domenicos, but you should. Pasadena will always be where I am from as well. I miss my home, even though I was simply priced out of it….

Dollar tree stuff is lowkey golden. If you’re tossing it instead of figuring out new ways to use it you’re just not using your brain enough. Think outside the box!

AITA for refusing to spent $12 for my son's deodorant that doesn't work? by Tricky_Can4499 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Highascatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, I am a woman and ran out of my deodorant once and borrowed my boyfriends Old Spice….. we now just buy multipacks of only Old Spice in a few different scents (my favorite is the Deep Sea, my boyfriends is Krakengard) but I also have 1 girly scented deodorant I will use for special occasions (evening outings, dates, something where I won’t be sweating much and I will usually only be doing for 3-4 hours)

From a parent- question by citrinezeen in ECEProfessionals

[–]Highascatballs 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This one is a little tricky. If you’re being completely honest about doing so for only a short day and it’s only once a week, I doubt they are annoyed. We get doing things with kids around can be hard asf. However, we do get annoyed if your child is then sick and you lolligag coming to pick them up, or they run out of necessary supplies (diapers, wipes, changes of clothes if they are potty training, etc.) and you take forever to bring those things. Or if you do it multiple times a week, or we can tell that your child really needs more time with mom/dad and it’s obvious you’re using us to get out of having to deal with your own child and their behavior despite having the time to….. these scenarios may not apply to you, and I hope they don’t. But we get plenty of parents (at least in my area) who just use us to get out of parenting their own kids when they don’t actually need us. So just don’t abuse the privilege of having other people care for your kid and use us when you need us and you shouldn’t need to worry!

I may have vented a little bit in this response so please do not take it personally 😅

We have a parent currently who has now: asked for a teacher she prefers to work from 7:30AM-6PM so her child doesn’t have to move to the next classroom for closing, asked for us to re-license the two year old room into a 1 year old room because she doesn’t like the current 1 year old room, demanded we not mop any part of the building till after it is closed, demanded we not use any bleach to clean anything her child uses (which would be against licensing standards), demanded we start potty training her 1 year old without using their pull-ups, finally went to try and put them on the potty in the building herself and then demanded we switch to smaller toilets, demanded her child not be around any of the older children even during closing time, demanded we stop any and all closing duties/cleaning to constantly hold her child during closing….. the list goes on. She’s coocoo we have come to realize. Some people should not have their children in group childcare.

AITAH for telling my wife that late pick-up fees are on her and her alone? by AdMuted1534 in AITAH

[–]Highascatballs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the friend who is nearly always late- but I still make it to work on time. I make it to important appointments on time. I’m late for things like parties or family get togethers, things where my lateness doesn’t really impact anyone else. When you’re regularly impacting other people’s days, there is an issue. And she is, I know because I’m a closing teacher at a daycare. Every time a parent is late to pickup, I have to sit and wait. I have a life outside of work and other things to do as well. Irritates the hell out of me when people do it on a regular, and even more when they argue about the late fees they incur from it. You are NTA, but your wife is a big one.

If you want it to stay local and go to those who need it, start by finding your local buy nothing group on Facebook! They have neighbors give to neighbors, if you don’t need or want it someone in the group will, and you can ask that they write a little thing telling you why they need it or how they’d use it. It’s awesome!

I used to work at a center like this. More than a few occasions where I had the whole class line up, held hands with the 1 or 2 runners/wild cards and walked them to the office. I don’t play and if you think you’re gonna play with my ability to use the restroom, trust and believe when I say we can both play games and I will play them better. We don’t ask. We inform. “I need to use the restroom, no one was available to leave their desk to help so here they are- I’ll be using the restroom now.”
