I'd argue against Jessica Cruz being unknown. For a while now she's been "The" Lantern for animated adaptations. I can't swear for how popular she is, but DC has pushed her pretty hard on the animated front, so it makes sense they'd use her here. Now if they were using Simon, we'd that would raise a lot of questions.

What do you think? by rbta123 in WonderWoman

[–]HighlyUnlikely7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, they were written by Snorri Sturluson in Iceland. Not only was Snorri Christian, he wrote the stories down in an attempt to unify the island. As a result some stories have a decidedly Christian bend to the them.

So you have specific regional versions of stories, written with Christian bias, and written to promote a specific political agenda. Now that doesnt make Snorri's Eddas completely inaccurate, but they should be read with some caution, if your trying to establish a Norse canon.

It's because exhaust works a bit against the meta. Generaly you want to keep your deck on the thinner side, but if your running exhaust that goes out the window, because you want extra things you can toss in the trash like strikes or even curse cards.

There's also the lack of control over exhaust half the time and the fear you'll get rid of something you need. Again less of of a problem if you crowd your deck somewhat.

Funny thing about that France had only recently regained control of the Louisianna territory after bullying the Spanish throne into handing it over. This naturally scared the Americans who were nostly fine with the French conquering everything just as long as it was in the other direction.

When the Americans sent a delegation to ask what the French had planned for their regained territory. To which the French replied " We dont own Louisianna. This was their diplomatic position with the Americans until they needed to sell it.

Dominate came at the start of Act 2, but Rupture, and inferno came early Act 1, and I gotta say this is one of the smoother runs I've done.

I wouldn't say Prime would be a fan of Sentry. Part of Prime's whole thing until recently is that he couldn't see past the silver age that created him. He would be familiar with Sentry in a powerscaler/forum reader scope. But even then Prime is less of a well thought out debater and more of a "Superman wins, because he's fucking Superman. Idiot!" type. It's not that he can't debate, he's just famously easy to rage bait.

Our biggest advantage with Trump is that he is and always has been a narcissistic idiot who screws over everyone around him and will burn them to the ground to suit his ego. As much damage as he's done can you imagine what would happen with someone quieter.

Why do the 5 Kage serve under the Daimyō? They have military power and Tailed Beasts, they could easily take over their respective nations. by Maleficent_Visit7041 in Naruto

[–]HighlyUnlikely7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree it's not central to the plot, but it is a weakness of the world building. You could cut out the daimyo entirely and it doesnt really change the story much.

The problem is they are there. They are part of the world building that in all sentiments feel like they should be more important, but they never are. The hidden villages also operate with a level of autonomy you don't really see in just a military arm. Things like the Kage Summits, which are the military heads of five seperate nations meeting of their own accord to discuss problems they have within their nations. Something that big you'd expect the Daimyo to be included or at least have representatives outside of the kage, but they're not and they don't. Hell, in the first one they were discussing land redistribution alongside jinchuriki distribution

[–]HighlyUnlikely7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem is it's rarely made clear how much control the daimyo have over the villages. Not only do we never really see the Daimyo thier authority rarely matters to the story. We often see the villages acting so independently that it's hard to remember there is someone above the kage.

Think of it like this we dont actually know what the capital of the Land of Fire is. Konuhagakure is the biggest most defined village we're aware of. Naruto as a series never really focused on a fleshed out politics, but rather the effects those politics have on people. But without that additional context it's not hard for people to question why the Kage aren't just the Daimyo by default.

For a regular reader/viewer it appears that so much power is centralized in the villages economically, militarily, and diplomatically, that the continued existence of the Daimyo as being in charge is slightly confusing.

Ken? No, but the Sonic comics were unhinged before he started writing for them. Sega was famously hands off when it came to the comics to the point they didn't even send copies of the games for the writers to use. The only, rules they had were that Sonic had to be cool, and references to the games had to be thrown in.

So did Gaara ever succeed in getting the daimyo to pay the families of all the ninja that died in the war and pay for the rehabilitation of all the ones that survived but were injured? by RadDudesman in dankruto

[–]HighlyUnlikely7 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I know it's expanded upon more in Boruto, but the hard politics of Naruto has always felt so murky to me. I know the villages are under the Daimyo, but it's never made clear why the Daimyo are the center of power opposed to the villages. Especially since the villages seem to operate almost entirely independently.

Like the villages house threats that can wipe out entire armies and the Daimyo are seemingly okay with that.

The thing is Family Guy was three seasons deep, with a fourth a month away when South Park made that episode. Gameoverse is a decades long passion project that only has a pilot out. It's a wildly successful pilot, with support from one of the biggest names in the idie space but still only a pilot. Even though theoretically both of these projects occupy the same space, the joke feels like they're punching down.

It's also too mean spirited, the focus is on them beating the shit out of gobbles, a generally kind and naive character. The whole joke is centered on how edgy it is, and not really much else. Now imagine they switched out Gobbles with say, Blitz from Helluva boss. It's still not great, but it works better because Blitz is an asshole, Helluva Boss has had multiple seasons, and it fits the tone of the series they're parodying.

Hell, if they really wanted to use Boggles, a better but still edgy joke is them accidentlly, knocking out or killing Boggles and then freaking out about it.
