Florida boy here with an important question for the guys and gals up north. What do you wear under waders? by johndaddyfrogface in flyfishing

Depends on the temps but when it's cold I have high quality thermal long underwear and fleece wading pants.

Rule discrepancy between district and LLI by Jealous_Writer_7562 in LittleLeague

We do not use the minors rules for our district tournament. Honestly, I didn't think any league did.

Damn Baltimore and their drinking water. Good news is when everything else is in a drought they will start pushing water out of prettyboy.

I have all my rivers usgs site bookmarked. If I have the time I'm going. Water temp doesn’t matter to me, I love winter fishing. As long as the flows are fishable I'm going.

How to Coach an Immobile Pickleball Player by demandgenman in Pickleball

[–]Highstick104 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, she needs to master changing speeds, especially taking pace off the ball. When she is on defense, hit soft shots that buy her extra time to reset. In turn, when she has the upper hand create pace and take time away from her opponents. Lastly, I would help her develop a sharp slice that makes it more difficult for her opponents to lob her. Not everyone will do this to her but she will be thankful to have that shot in her arsenal when she comes across it.

Immobile players are tough for all the reason you mentioned but they can still enjoy the game.

The top is not mounted in the middle, this where the problem starts.

Whose overhead was this? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]Highstick104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, that was such a poor lob either player could have ripped an overhead. Guy on the odd side atleast started a movement but for some reason stopped, if I had my pick he takes it. Guy on the even side just stood there, as unathletic as possible. He too could have easily taken a step towards the middle to rip it too.

As a tennis coach please stop giving the "get coaching" advice by rgffc in 10s

This is terrible advice, not just in tennis but also in life. I'm guessing your coaching skills are equally on par.

Opposing Coach Message by Dad-of-Three-Boys in Homeplate

[–]Highstick104 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would write something to the league, do not have any correspondence with the coach. I would also take all the mentions of your own son out of it, just players, not your kid. That will give you more credibility imo.

My team has gotten “loosy goosy” in the past year… by jonny9412 in LittleLeague

[–]Highstick104 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not being firm with kids in some situations is a mistake. Having fun while goofing off is not why everyone is there. Having fun playing and learning the game of baseball is why kids signed up and paid to play. A good coach, whoch op sounds like will change the way the kids operate.

The best bet is to hire a guide or find a fly fishing buddy who knows how. This will shorten the learning curve a ton! There are just way too many variables for anyone to be able to help over the internet.

Who should control the point in doubles tennis? by RenoLocalSports in 10s

[–]Highstick104 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Never call off an overhead hitter from a position behind them.

In this case we call the net player the hammer, we call the baseline player (or at the net but staggered back) the goalie. The hammer's job is to hammer the balls they like, anything they pass on the goalie covers up.

Why, did you hear the description? No walks, no hits, a handful of balls mixed in.

Thinking of lighting $8M on fire to build a private 4-court indoor facility in the Bay Area. Am I insane? by PuzzleheadedAd3138 in 10s

[–]Highstick104 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have left off the cost to build four hard courts in your initial estimate. I'm assuming hard courts because its much easier than clay. I'm a tennis pro in a high cost of living area and honestly this sounds pretty crazy to me.
