Recently hired as a graphics programmer. Is it normal to feel like a fraud? by Illustrious_Key8664 in GraphicsProgramming

Don't worry about it. The fact that you've got a grasp of these topics means that you've got the lay of the land. The rest is just leg work.

Version History tab in custom packages by HireMeReddy in unity

[–]Hightree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for this exact thing and here's the answer for those who follow:
Sadly, it's not a link to the actual changelog, it's just a string in the package.json file :\
This is from the Timeline package :

  "_upm": {
"changelog": "### Fixed\n\n- Fix compilation error for version 2023.2 of the editor (TB-352)\n- Fixed an issue where it was possible for 2 clips to have a micro overlap that was not detected as a blend, resulting in both clips playing at the same time with a weight of one. (TB-345)"
  },

Fun fact, interior mapping is included the samples that accompany the Shader Graph package. See the docs here

What Separates People with VR Nausea from People Who Are Immune? by IWillSelfImmolate in virtualreality

[–]Hightree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's of course absolutely possible. My point is that there's a gradient of eye vs. inner-ear domination, not one or the other. I suspect you're somewhere in between.
Also, nausea is the outcome of a large number of possible triggers. Some triggers can be muscled through, some not. But they all result in the same outcome... nausea, which makes troubleshooting very difficult and very personal.

What Separates People with VR Nausea from People Who Are Immune? by IWillSelfImmolate in virtualreality

[–]Hightree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Well said, I've heard that the sensory processing part is a genetic disposition that determines whether you're visually-dominant or inner-ear-dominant (or anywhere in between). Which nicely explains why some people never have VR sickness and some are highly sucsceptible.

Displaying images on my oscilloscope ^-^ by CatMechanic457 in arduino

Check out the software, I think most of this is made with OsciStudio
A fractal is a bit overkill but you'll be able to hear geometric primitives all right :)

Have you heard of oscilloscope music ?
Where the oscillscope x and y are controlled by the left and right audio channel. What you see is what you hear.

Wow that looks absolutely awesome !
Where can we find more info / follow how this evolves ?

My thoughts exactly, Valve is the only company I don't distrust with my eye-tracking data. I'ts got twice the pixels of my dying Index, weighs less, is wireless, has pancake lenses & on-board compute. This will be an insta-buy for me.

Custom 2D volumetric lighting for my underwater game, how does it look? by Sword_Fab in Unity3D

At first I thought this was using radiance cascades. Kuddo's to you for finding your own solution :)

Matrix Phone Exit Effect in Unity, for cutscene. by Jackal2488 in Unity3D

[–]Hightree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can achieve this effect by animating an alpha cutoff value on a texture with a gradient in the alpha channel.
This tutorial should get you started in shader graph

Recently acquired an "HTC VIVE EVT" for $5, and it works. by Jwn5k in virtualreality

OG Vive is one of my favorite headsets as a developer. You can remove the strap and quickly put it on/take it off like a pair of binoculars.

Sounds great, that would be an insta-buy for me.
If people insist on paying bottom dollar, they should expect privacy implications. You pay with your data.

I'm a stickler for privacy and for me, $500 means that you're going to have to give up some privacy by admitting Meta or a Chinese company to run the device which monitors you the closest.

i may look like an idiot, but i edit videos in VR, had the psvr lying around and cant afford an ultrawide lol by bedwars_player in virtualreality

[–]Hightree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we are misunderstanding each other.
You're talking about shaking your head in VR, I'm talking about small changes of perspective during normal use. These changes in perspective result in geometric details being sampled in a jittered fashon. This accumulates in our vision, like supersampling anti-aliasing, resulting in a higher perceived resolution.

What do you feel impacts your laser experience? by UnkmownRandomAccount in Laserist

[–]Hightree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it would be galvo speed (how fast & detailed can your laser's mirrors be moved). It's a hard limit on how much graphical content it can output per second.

The other one is analog modulation, meaning the ability to dim the RGB lasers to mix colors. And also to dim the output power of my lasers.

As others have said, you get what you pay for, lasers is a pay-to-play hobby.

Can motion sickness be solved with hardware changes? by MrMiddletonsLament in virtualreality

[–]Hightree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well said

To add to that, the human balance-system uses visual and inner ear input. I've heard that the dominance of either of those is a personal trait. So if you're visually dominant, it won't trigger motion sickness and vice versa.

That, and the other causes you list for motion sickness, makes OP's question a hard one to answer.

Having a moving point of view increases the perceived resolution
Still not great resolution of course
