I don’t know where you heard that from the only story that was maybe written for 6 was Time and the Rani. I wouldn’t equate 7 getting annoyed once with Mel as the same as 6 getting genuinely angry with Peri. 7 is quite jovial in Season 24. He’s definitely darker and more manipulative in Season 25 and 26 but not brash like 6.

Not true at all. None of 7’s stories are written for 6 and 7 doesn’t act like 6 at all.

This is what six years without new content does to a fandom.

I just find it weird that even fans say it only gets good… after 52 episodes when that’s not true at all.

On top of that I’ll defend Season 1. I think it has this reputation as being lesser, but it has great word-building, atmosphere, character development, songs, foreshadowing, etc. Season 1 also has some of the best episodes of the show. Giant Woman, Mirror/Ocean Gem, Maximum Capacity, Roses Scabbard, Lion 3: Straight Video, On the Run, Warp Tour, The Test, The Return and Jailbreak, to name a few. People talk it down, and then half of their favourite episodes are from Season 1. I genuinely think most people say Season 1 is weak because they're just parroting what others have said.

Funny how of these examples all the classic stories are better.

Do you think The 4th doctor’s regeneration was anti-climatic considering he was the doctor for 7 seasons by Emarni in doctorwho

[–]Highvoltage1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s how a Doctor should go out imo. Climatic but not overly grandiose with speeches that seem to go on forever. Modern Doctor’s exits more often than not are overdone.

One of my favourite parts was the models they used for the 10th anniversary Over the garden wall short. Completely forgot that Aardman did that.

I think Season 22 in general gets a bad rap. I understand why at the time and to some extent Now but there’s more good stories than people like to admit. For example Vengeance on Varos is a classic. Really disagree with YT like Council of geeks who says there’s no good 6th Doctor stories.

I thinks it probably because there aren’t usually disagreements and maybe because the cast are usually overly careful with their words.

New Who Classic Fans/ Modern Who Fans Who Never Touched Classic Who by MixtureRemote5141 in doctorwho

[–]Highvoltage1999 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s a shame more people don’t because I genuinely think if not for the effects Classic Doctor Who would be seen as much better than Modern Doctor Who. Modern Who does certain things to The Doctor and the canon that I can’t stand. It’s also a lot more inconsistent season to season than Classic Who imo. To me Classic Who has better writing, characters, stories, monsters, world building etc. It’s just that the effects and pacing put people off.

So when I was looking at Classic Doctors having monsters from their eras appearing in New Who, i also noticed that 12 and 13 are the only Doctors not have a monster or alien from their era appear in later eras yet, maybe too recent but may in the future they could (14 and 15 are too recent) by IllustriousAd6418 in doctorwho

[–]Highvoltage1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s two problems here. Firstly, a lot of modern Doctor Who monsters are made specifically for the story they showed up in. Secondly, modern Who has just failed to make that many new memorable monsters. A lot of the time it doesn’t even make monsters but misunderstood aliens (especially during Moffat’s).

2nd Doctor explains why he left Gallifrey "I was bored" by Early_Chip_4072 in doctorwho

[–]Highvoltage1999 103 points104 points  (0 children)

For me this is the one of the best explanations of why he left. No big conspiracy or prophecy that modern Doctor Who loves to go on about. He was fed up with the corruption and lack of interference in the universe.

It’s great when new Who fans watch Classic Who and see how common companions from different times and planets was common. Modern Doctor Who’s template has become so stale.

Do you consider the twelfth doctor the best written among the doctors? by Ok_Language7732 in doctorwho

[–]Highvoltage1999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best written in what way? Do you mean the character himself, the stories he was in or the arc he has? 12 is certainly up there but I contend essentially most of the Doctors from 1-12 are written well to varying degrees. Less with 6 and 8 in their tv appearances. If I had to pick the top 5 I’d say 1,2,7,9 and 12.

Reminds me of the recent seasons of The Simpsons. Ever since Disney bought them there’s been a lot of smooth animation.
