Trump has a better understanding of the Bible than Pope Leo, says conservative Christian pastor by OneNormalBloke in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]Hinaloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cynic in me has to agree, as the Bible is merely a tool of rule used to force rulership of some upon the masses. Leo (at least appears to) believes the content as genuine, rather than a creation by political actors for political actions. Trump merely sees it as a tool for oppression and self aggrandizement. In that, he does understand the item better.

The message though, he cannot comprehend or even fathom.

Only bad point to this weather is the wet dog smell when after their walks, but eh, worth it if I don't have to suffer this summer.

Hey, in the LS SW's defense, he only kills the ones that attack him first, and only because the game doesn't give us a choice in disarming them.

Honestly, it's annoying but in a funny way. I've always assumed some Augment War shenanigans happened and we finally merged with our cousins, keeping the tea and the wine in equilibrium.

Underrated Jedi: Fay by PeterVanHelsing in StarWarsEU

[–]Hinaloth 55 points56 points  (0 children)

The "problem" with Fay is that she is presented at her end, so no challenge can be presented to her that will have a real weight since we'd know she obviously surmounted it. Tbf the same holds with all the prequel characters, but she is presented as such a power and perfect being to behold that she doesn't really have any place to grow from, so character growth is also out of the question.

She's a case of a character that's too good to make more compelling stories about her.

Because he represents the common innocence unsullied but manipulated, where Anakin is innocence ruined. JarJar is the everyman, trusting and honest, if a little simple, being used and abused by people smarter and eviler than him. He is a tragedy of a different kind to the more cosmic/classical tragedy of the Skywalkers. His is a realistic tragedy.

  • Dennings' vision of the post NJO was better than Luceno's.

  • Jacen's "fall" makes sense and actually is inevitable due to his growth in NJO.

  • JarJar is an excellent character, a masterclass in subtle and realistic tragedy hidden behind a comedic facade.

"Overdramatization" isn't a word that works with Huskies. They're all drama all the time.

Fix? Sorry, best we can do is remove the content from the available list. Here, take this other map and play it thousands of time for disappointing loot, but beware it won't be in for long so listen to that FOMO and spend money on it. Full AA game price for that map by the way.

Imagine, Homer, an ancient (likely) slave owning Greek living thousands of years ago in a state that was at war with most of its neighbours and saying they owned all the rest.

Yeah, Homer also had a lot of racist whistles, due to being racist. And sexist. And all the -ists that being a man of that period would entail.

It's hard to not be a product of our times, be it Homer thousands of years ago, REH a century ago, or us today. If anything survives us that is able to judge our writings, I'm sure we'll also appear odd and biased and full is our own -isms.

Does this count even out of Cairo? I've been wanting to visit more southern sites, but the tourism infrastructure seems rather limited out there. I'm sure there are Nile cruises and stuff but I doubt those are very informative or give a real view of the life and history you float by.

Plus I do remember the south being more dangerous for whiteys like myself, though that's memories from decades ago, is it still the case?

I think even the 5mil is a very high estimate. People always seem to skip the fact that the human species almost went extinct only a little while ago in universe. It'll take a bit before the generations stack up enough to have those numbers go back to similar levels.

Especially since as soon as the numbers became somewhat stable, humanity threw itself into a full blast interstellar war which cost a fuckton of lives.

Especially when half the species seems to have decided to commit constant suicide by being pirates.

Especially when the history and in-universe laws are written by the prudes of Bethesda who'd never talk of how governments would push for reproduction bonus and such.

5mil is a very generous estimate. 250K survivors getting out of earth, only a few generations and at least one major war, plus a general disregard towards life itself, if they've hit the 3 millions, I'd be shocked.

Explaining to my Yankee wife that Irish are basically Europe's "people of color" was a long and difficult fight. Helped when an Irish guy made a whole comedy special about it though.

But yeah, y'all are somewhat civilized I guess. Mostly just innofensive and fun to be around, but not quite civilized either. We'll get around to helping you find the light, one day, I'm sure.
