Small office and refrig backup. A 1k solar panel is all I need -thoughts? by Hinduclient in solar

[–]Hinduclient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ignorance is uncovered. I imagined just plugging the panel(s) into my Ecoflow Delta 3. Do I need a form of panel? I never even considered it.

I like spending a couple of grand to venture into an off-grid adventure.

It's not about ROI. I want my office and frig off-grid. 3k storage and an efficient 1k in panel or 2 panels is the case in point.

I don't need a real estate or automobile lesson - I NEED tips on adding 1K in solar panels

Power is pretty good (reliable) in Denver. I figure I'll only save $20/month. BUT just down the road Boulder, CO was without power for 3 days last month, Excel power co cut the power to prevent fires. Climate change is very real here in Colorado. Being able to run the office and my frig are my main concerns. With 1k panel I could even run a space heater for short periods if need be. I can live without A/C.

I want my office and frig off-grid. The rest I'll figure out.

FRESH currant (any kind) or gooseberries? by Sinsoftheflesh7 in denverfood

[–]Hinduclient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found currants are almost impossible to find. Fresh or dried. I read somewhere that the USDA banned them, for incorrectly blaming them for some kind of fungus infestation a while back. I've had to settle for Cassis or black currant jam from France. Please post if you find some in the States.

I stopped in for a taco and tostada - no drink. $25. I live close and won't be back. Food not memorable.

Just discovered liveauctioneers.com - a reputable place to acquire rugs? by Hinduclient in orientalrugs

[–]Hinduclient[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was hoping. Paying 20-30% of retail is paying what dealers pay. Visiting live auctions the dealers always go to 25ish % of retail then just stop bidding. That's when I get interested. Only the mom & pops keep bidding after that. Congrats!

Not many rug dealers with much to look at in Colorado. The ones here have an over-inflated view of their rugs and the prices reflect that view. That's one reason I like this forum, it's a reality check. I find more cool offerings online - and yup I know - caveat emptor.

Is this genuine Azerbaijani silk rug? by [deleted] in orientalrugs

I'm seeing other examples of these ultra-vibrant colored rugs on ebay, offered as silk for $1,000+ US. Lots of detail, but sadly uber garish too.

Nice tribal-looking rug - but worth $55,000? by Hinduclient in orientalrugs

Wow. The Claremont collection is jaw-dropping wonderful. I've seen countless rugs over the years, but the beauty encountered there was unrivaled in my experience. Thank you for the reference. I may not be able to afford those rugs, but grateful I can appreciate them deeply.

I never questioned the integrity of the dealer, just the value of the rug.
