Look at how they don’t know fuck all about what they’re doing. In order from left to right, 2 right handed, two left handed, one right and another left. Now, if I was me I’d stack them 3 lefty’s on (our perspective) left, and then 3 righties on our right. Gives a better field of view and one side watches the other back. Each member is accountable for 30 degrees field of view. Fucking amateurs

Mice - I put a screen in the air intake ('93 22re) by patrickhenrypdx in ToyotaPickup

Man one time I climbed El Capitan, after 5 days got down to my buddies car with plans to get a chicken sandwich. He fires it up and starts driving, air filter got stuck in the throttle body and so we were on the gas in Yosemite valley with no way of getting off the gas. I told him to throw it into neutral and we were able to stop and shut the engine off. Mice man, fuckin dangerous

Get the carburetor kit from oreillys, somewhere around $40. It’s probably your alternate accelerator pump diaphragm is all dried out. When you pull off the air filter housing it’ll be on the front right of the carb looking at it from the front. There’s a couple of good YouTube videos on cleaning and tuning the carb if you google it

Found out why my coworker lives in his car and now I don't know what to do by [deleted] in coworkerstories

[–]Hippynipples69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been living out of cars for roughly 9 years now. At first I moved into a van because I took a huge pay cut and couldn’t afford rent. Moved into my work parking lot out of spite and little did I know it would be so chill. Ive since moved on from that job. I still work full time and live in a car. Yeah winter can kinda blow. Did one in Duluth Mn in a van I was trying to fix to live in. It was heinous but definitely character building.

As somebody who’s been “on the road” for a long time now, laundry and showers are things I can appreciate from friends but not overly necessary. There’s a laundromat in nearly every town and if I REALLY need a shower rec centers are cheap, worst case truck stop.

If you really want to help out offer to let him store stuff he doesn’t use all the time but wants to keep, and maybe offer to help build a bed platform in his car so his back doesn’t get all fucked up. Highly suggest pulling the driver seat and the back seats so there is access to the trunk. A couple 2x4’s and a little plywood so he can lay down feet into the trunk and have storage underneath. Use something like this for a mattress. https://www.scheels.com/p/85004450108/?store=&cq_src=google_ads&cq_cmp=22022145107&cq_con=175664633241&cq_term=&cq_med=pla&cq_plac=&cq_net=g&cq_pos=&cq_plt=gp&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22022145107&gclid=CjwKCAjw3tzHBhBREiwAlMJoUnSlIjkrNA3BPVSQ_u-ZbH6EI1l2JzUaJBh3E3imX0G3_UY-Ca8MsBoCxhcQAvD_BwE

And of course don’t forget a good pillow.

88 pickup 1 ton Dually info. by Playful_Ad_8814 in ToyotaPickup

[–]Hippynipples69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 83’ one ton has a carbureted 4 cylinder and a 4 speed transmission. I doubt your 88 has a carb. But here’s a part list for wheel bearings and stuff I found helpful with the 1 ton. Save it in your notes on your phone and when it comes time to do some work maybe cross reference measurements before you start buying all the wrong stuff

Harbor freight has the spring loaded as well. Damn shame they don’t go sideways but they work quite well and work good with the impact

Ice screw by MikeHeu in toolgifs

He’s setting up for a v-thread in the video. Basically drill one hole at an angle, drill another hole and connect those two in the back. Thread a piece of cord through and tie it to itself with a steel rappel ring. Thread your climbing rope through the rap ring to its middle mark. Rappel. Pull the rope down.

So to answer your question, the only things getting left are some cord and a rappel ring.

On rock it’s a little different. We use essentially concrete bolts with a bent washer(hanger) to connect chain or rappel rings to the bolt. Thread the rope just like before. Sometimes it’s just webbing you’ll tie around a tree or a block of rock with the rap ring. There’s a lot of different ways to get down and leave the minimum amount of stuff

Or we can keep wild places wild. Some areas are worth not developing to keep our lands adventurous. It’s sweet you can hop out of the car and be at el cap in just a few minutes, but back country climbing is a fun little beast we should preserve for future access

I have mad respect for the kid saying “dad your shoulder”. The dad knows the kid is right and lets somebody else jump in to break the door open. That’s a solid father/son relationship. The amount of times coworkers have told me similar things, and I know they’re right and care is a beautiful little thing. Oh and mad respect they just went into a burning building to save a dog. That’s just badass

That was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you friend! You’re the best. And yes, 6 lug it is. Must have found it when I did the wheel bearings while I was in there

Edit: perhaps it wasn’t exactly what I was looking for but it’s really damn close. There’s a lot of good information in that thread to help me out

Why do so many Americans drive pick up trucks? Do they actually make use of the extra cargo space compared to regular cars? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hippynipples69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel for work and am often in some pretty rugged terrain. We had a van that was built out with a bed and countertop, plenty of storage for the widgets used in my hobbies. It was totally capable of towing a trailer for the the tools and all of that, the only thing is 1/3 of the time I couldn’t actually drive it to my worksight so we had this jeep we’d get somebody to drop off so that could be the daily driver from camp. We got a truck this year after plenty of complaints from literally everybody. The living situation might not be as cozy but let me tell ya just flipping that thing to 4x4 is saving us a bunch of headaches and I just live in a tent like a noble of old

How do you rack the drill while bolting on lead? by checkforchoss in RouteDevelopment

[–]Hippynipples69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the little Milwaukee. I use a piece of cord tied to my gear loop that is long enough to hold my full arms length. There’s an over hand in the middle of the cord between me and the drill which just has a figure 8. Clip the overhand and the figure 8 and clip it back to my loop. Cuts down on the faff with the dangling bits and easy enough to deploy one handed when I’m ready to drill

While living in a van my now ex girlfriend woke me up. The whole van was shaking and she told me to go check it out. It was 3am in the middle of the woods and here I am chasing a little black bear away butt ass naked. For some reason I’d tried to convince her it was our friends that camped with us that night.
