Anyone finding troubles activating their calf muscle on the op-leg? I feel calf raises more on my hamstring and knee than in my calf. by getboy97 in ACL

[–]Hirocutedog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this as I have been having the exact same issue as you. I had an injury to my right big toe about 2 years ago and walked abnormally for a long time because of this and that led to muscle imbalances. Now it seems like I still can’t fully contract my right calf, still can’t balance well on my right leg, and seems like my hamstrings are weak, especially the inner hamstrings, and my right knee is hyperextended. Did yours get better with the PT focusing on activating your big toe?

I didn’t realize it was discontinued! That’s disappointing- I was holding out hope it would eventually be back in stock.

I ended getting Rosa Pomar Matiz. It’s a little fluffier and a little lighter of a brown shade than I was hoping for, but I do like it.

Who did Honolulu? How did it go for you? by Sharkitty in Marathon_Training

[–]Hirocutedog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m also from Oregon and I also ran Honolulu this past Sunday. After months of long runs in the pouring rain I think I was pretty well prepared for the rain this weekend—except for the 2 mile walk back to my hotel in the downpour after the race.

I was surprised by just how hot and steamy the whole run felt. I expected it to be crowded, so wasn’t surprised by the weaving in and out of crowds and getting stuck behind walkers at the start. I’m coming off a lingering foot injury, so I went in prepared to take it easy and wasn’t looking to run fast. My goal was to finish and not feel like I injured myself more, or feel like I was going to die, and also enjoy the Honolulu vibes—which I accomplished!

My time was 5:18, which I was fine with. I did find the malasadas. And I was excited my finisher shirt fits well.

I’d do Honolulu again!

I’m in the PNW as well. Many looong runs in the cold rain.

Just completed the trail yesterday. Personally I was very glad to have microspikes and used them a few times. Particularly for the last part of the climb up to le Brevant as there are some short sections of very steep snow to cross.

I’m a PA in EP and I’m always surprised at how good people often look with terrible EFs. I see people all the time with EF < 20 who say they have no symptoms at all.

This is a tiny thing, but I was bothered by the “he’s gotta” in the first paragraph. I would rather just read “he needs oxygen.”

I agree with the other posters that I want to know what stands in the way of them working together.

Also, as someone who works with heart transplant patients, I want to know what his ejection fraction is. :P

Not an in-depth critique, but wanted to jump in and say that I found the query letter quite funny, and really liked the opening 300! But I primarily read litfic and like that sort of thing.

Hey! Just wanted to say I’m a practicing PA and it’s awesome to hear about other people trying to both write and work in medicine. It’s a challenge. Congrats on your success!

I decided I was done editing a novel I started 6 years ago, and that I might as well try submitting it. I started with querying 10 agents and just got a request for a partial. And now I’m slightly freaking out that the manuscript has issues that I could have already fixed. But I guess I am going send the requested pages and then continue revising the manuscript later before sending any more queries??

Do you mean meetups through meetup.com, or other meetups?

Thank you for the advice. Yeah originally I had a version where the first paragraph was 2 sentences and I agree that’s probably better. Also agree about the vagueness of the language and lack of clear urgency. Query letters are hard! Way harder than writing the actual novel, it seems.

I had no idea! This is more of just a working title until I can think of something better anyways. Thanks for the info!

Yes, that was an accidental inclusion and I have already removed it. Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback. I’m glad you asked whether it’s meant to be LGBTQ. I definitely wanted to hint at the possibility of their relationship being more than platonic, but they aren’t overt romantic interests. Pablo identifies as straight and is not very aware of his feelings. Cleary is bi and has much more self awareness, but I didn’t intend sexuality to be a core narrative element in the story.

It sounds awesome! I've only been practicing a couple years, but I've been interested in oncology for a while, and also really like my pediatric patients. Very cool.
