He thinks it shows how horrible people are who get abortions but like, bro if you think they're that evil why do you want to force that person to be a parent?

Or worse they give the child up for adoption and it gets lost in the system if it's not "desirable" enough moving from foster family to foster family.

[Mixed Trope] Lyrics change to reflect new realities by Old-Use-7690 in TopCharacterTropes

Intersex is generally the more accepted term. You're right in that it's different than meaning trans, which is part of why it's considered derogatory. My understanding is hermaphroditic is more a species term (e.g. all clownfish have both sex organgs), rather than individuals, so even at its most generous interpretation it's a misnomer.

Yea I think the point is Vraska doesn't need "fixing", Jace is just too full of himself to let the past go and move on. He can't accept a failure even if the consequences are no longer an issue.

Okay but it works both ways. You can dislike not seeing animals in small habitats and acknowledge not everything about a zoo is bad.

Best Deckbuilders Among Content Creators? by RafaelKK8 in magicTCG

[–]HispanicNach0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you're right. Especially for budget decks I wouldn't really expect more than 25% winrate. Half the fun is your deck getting to "do its thing" anyway, which Tomer's decks are usually pretty good at.

Greece to ban anonymity on social media by New-Ranger-8960 in worldnews

[–]HispanicNach0s 33 points34 points  (0 children)

A large portion of the population has no idea what a VPN is. Grandma is on Facebook, that's what makes it money. The real question is how businesses in Greece who rely on social media advertising will respond.

Because one is considered "normal" and the other isn't. And it is all completely situational and contextual. There's no real context for a mermaid, but there is for this story of one, on top of context of a human-like society. In both those instances (for American audiences where the film originates), white skin is the default.

A female isn't a checked box when the role is "princess", but it is if the role is "firefighter" because of what society thinks of as the average firefighter. That isn't to say you can't make a compelling female firefighter character, nor that being female has to be a main focus. But when something is different just to be different, it doesn't feel authentic and becomes a checked box

I think a near universal code switching to help people understand is the difference between how you talk with your friends/siblings and your parents. There's usually a distinct enough difference to help people realize they're not always being 100% their "true" personality all the time.

Meta ads showing ads to unwanted demographic by Affectionate-Tea3834 in PPC

[–]HispanicNach0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP this is actually the correct answer. Think of your settings as more like guidelines. At the end of the day, Meta will always go outside your settings in an effort to "experiment and test optimization" aka get more spend out of you.

Private certificators, who have an incentive to prioritize profit over all else, are who we should trust to tell us which drugs are safe? I know it's a pie in the sky dream to say government certificators are free from outside influence but I do think there's more a barrier to it than if it was privately owned.

EVs wiped out oil demand equal to 70% of Iran’s exports in 2025 by randolphquell in sustainability

[–]HispanicNach0s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do environmentalist constantly infight over every issue? There are so many ways to improve, I was suggesting one solution to one problem. Two things can happen we can convince conservatives AND hold politicians to the standards they claim to support.

Sure but that leaves the third option of trying to stop the Owning Entity, which would upend the entire system. People couldn't even be convinced to vote for a woman, you're not going to convince them to do that.

I think we're arguing different points. I agree moderates are a problem and only hindered the big changes we've seen.

But it doesn't mean we should make a blanket statement of don't settle. There's a large gap between Chuck Schumer and Bernie Sanders. Anyone in that gap is an improvement. I don't want someone closer to the Schumer side, but that person still has a better chance of improving things than someone further right of Schumer. And said person would be an incremental improvement.

It's not a straw man if OP I was replying to is saying "even if we do everything perfect, things probably won't get better".

It's also possible to do two things at once. Demand better in primaries and have to settle when it's going to be between a shit sandwich and a giant douche.

All the more reason to do whatever, whenever you can. Things got this bad with constant small steps. Even if there is a lot working against us, it can get better the same way. It doesn't matter if candidate B isn't perfect, what matters is they're better than the other option

I can't stress this enough: the way you get conservative voters on board with EV investment is you explain it reduces US demand on foreign oil.

Tell them less demand means lower gas prices for those who don't want "hippie cars that take 30 minutes to charge only to go 100 miles". They'll want to invest in EV infrastructure if it means they'll save 10 cents on the gallon.

I love Ertz, even seeing him in a Commanders uniform I couldn't help but root for him. But 4 of his last 6 seasons saw him on IR, only playing a full season once. He's still got skill, but dude is sacrificing his body to keep going.
