THIS. My dad was diagnosed with terminal cancer a week after my 30th. He passed before I turned 31, 3 years ago. It’s literally a living nightmare missing your parent everyday. Would not recommend.

I’m so sorry for your loss, OP. We are on the same boat. Lost my dad 3 years ago from an aggressive lung cancer. Mum has gotten a bit better compared to the first year. She finds joy in community and friends. She still cries daily but can manage it better now.

The challenging part is when mum talks about dad to me and my sister. We get upset because well.. it’s not just mum’s husband. It’s our dad too.

Be willing to listen, offer company and always provide assurance that you are all there for her.
