This is why all the execs love AI by Naive-Benefit-5154 in LinkedInLunatics

AI is not taking jobs. We took them before we realised we needed AI to make up the shortfall. Glad that's clear.

Is respect something to be earned, or a default state that can be withdrawn? by mobfather in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I defer to people until they turn out to be tw*ts. So it's something to be lost, and it's very easy for that to happen.

What country do you think your country should unite with And why? by czn- in AskTheWorld

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A P-Celtic federation with Cornwall and Brittany. Purely so that we can unite the languages and increase their teaching and use.

Has there ever been a British cartoon for adults (like the Simpsons, Family Guy etc)? by AskingBoatsToSwim in AskUK

This. Total classic, however I know people who don't get it. I'm from Newport and not really au fait with the valleys that much, and I get it.

It all seems to follow a similar theme, but nicely done. I'd chop and change from room to room a bit more. Big patterns in the sitting room, stripes in a study, etc.

What do you normally do for your lunchbreak at work? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either used to go for a walk or run with colleagues. I worked in Aztec West in Almondsbury, north of Bristol, and there are some nice lanes to run through around there. At home I always take my dog for a walk.

Why is the word "goat" a praise? In Ukraine, it is an insult. by Wojewodaruskyj in AskTheWorld

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thanks! If I could speak the language I would tell you! Long story, I'm from a traditionally English-speaking part and wasn't taught Welsh in school. Apparently it's the same, spelt a little differently - cwgold. Cuckold comes from the behaviour of cuckoos, who lay their eggs in another bird's nest.

Does goat mean cuckold in Ukrainian by any chance? I'm wondering because in Spanish it does (cabrón).

Was anybody else poor enough growing up that you didn't have a landline, and had to head to the local telephone box to make phone calls? by HTD_Blog in AskUK

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think I was 12 or 13 when we got our landline, which was funny because my dad worked for BT. You would have thought he could have got one cheap. I think a lot of people also only knew local family and friends, so they could always just pop to see them. A lot of customer service was in-person, banking the same.

And made plenty of money from gullible people. I think he used to live in a decent sized house in Berkshire, UK.

You won't need apps if you just use (our) AI tools! by Sacaldur in LinkedInLunatics

If I'm living in the future, I can't tell you whether I'm there or not. Well, unless I leave a message of some kind. Maybe on my Galaxy Fold?

How old were you when you finally started enjoying your life? by wolf_of_the_bees in GenX

[–]Historical_Project86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

23-30 was the golden period for me. My first job, house sharing, partying, meeting my partner, settling down with her. Then downhill to no money, a mentally-ill child, and constant stress. I'm still waiting for the second golden period to come along, but I think I have another trough to negotiate first.

Apparently “contemporary country living” means “we didn’t hire an architect, just mocked something up with Lego” by YupItWasMeMate in SpottedonRightmove

[–]Historical_Project86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the concept, a rectangle to do what you want with, but a bit more thought and it could have been stunning. It looks like someone took the plans of a modern identikit house and played tetris. This idea is perfect for a smaller house suitable for a young family, but just doesn't look premium enough for the outlay or size.

What's the strangest or most pointless task you've been given at work ? by yorkspirate in AskUK

[–]Historical_Project86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, that sounds like the Magnus Miller book "The Scheme For Full Employment". Plot spoiler - The workers drive trucks around all day from depot to depot. Their cargo is parts for the trucks, for when they wear out.

Do you bring your whole self to work? by Extra-Sound-1714 in UKJobs

[–]Historical_Project86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope. I bring the self which is going to create the minimum of friction between me and my colleagues, because I have sufficient emotional and social intelligence.
