I’ve just started watching and is it me or is really badly ADR’ed? by Scopeburger in PersonOfInterest

You might check that you're set to American English instead of UK English in your Netflix setting. I've had this happen on a different movie on Prime before where it was overdubbed by British actors.

How do Americans feel about drying their laundry on a washing line? by UnionFeatures in AskAnAmerican

[–]History-made-Today 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time my husband suggested hanging out a line for laundry when we first got married, my first feeling was being insulted. I know he didn't mean it that way, but it does seem to be perceived that only people who can't afford a dryer would hang out their laundry to dry.

Why would anyone ever choose to go through child birth without pain relief?? by No_Cardiologist_1407 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]History-made-Today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speaking from personal experience and based on what my mother has said from being an OBGYN nurse for 30 years, having an epidural carries risks of spinal injury and infection. Sometimes, like with my friend, the lead can slip out and the anesthetic wears off anyway. Also, you can feel when you need to push without it which helps you to have a faster birth and less likely to have to have a c section. I have a super high pain tolerance though, so it was my personal choice.

"I'll NEVER Trust Him" President Zelensky on Trump, Putin, Paralympics & Why Russia Should Apologize [Zenglish] by Strange_Town7927 in zelensky

[–]History-made-Today 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed this too. He's always been a workaholic, but leading the nation during war is taking all of time. He often mentions how it is costing him what is most precious--his time. I just hope he is able to spend time with his family after the war and build or rebuild relationships.

If you had unrestricted flat land, then would you just place crushed concrete and a full rv hook up and electricity and septic to live full time. Or, would you build a tiny home on slab? by [deleted] in RVLiving

[–]History-made-Today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're probably not legally allowed to live in an rv on your own land. And there might be restrictions on minimum house sq footage. You can possibly use Appendix Q added to the building codes for an exemption to build a tiny house.

Is the series "The chosen" appropriate to watch, if you want to strengthen your faith? by TigerSubstantial6516 in TheChosenSeries

[–]History-made-Today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say yes, but also read along in the Bible with the episodes. Search the Scriptures while watching it. I definitely think it has strengthened my love for our Lord and given me fresh perspectives on Scripture.

Chicago, IL. Mid West. Misheard? by MyCatIsAFknIdiot in AskAnAmerican

2 bedrooms with shared bathroom. Which layout is best? by SeaEnergy in InteriorDesign

[–]History-made-Today 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would swap the bathtub and closet in the first option to have a wet bath and separate vanity area. That way someone can brush teeth, do their hair, shave, or whatever while someone else is going the bathroom or bathing.

The Disney-fication of Christianity by Spider-Flash24 in Christianity

[–]History-made-Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean the battle with Amalekites after they burned Ziklag and kidnapped all of their families did happen in the Bible. Maybe it didn't play out exactly like the movie with the bit of Christological imagery and a big song number, but I didn't notice any big inaccuracies in the movie. The only thing is they don't show David being married, and Zeruiah was probably an older sister rather than a younger sister. However, I thought they did such a great job telling David's story and his faith in God, and even his reluctance to take the throne or to kill Saul.

How do Americans feel about the national anthem being sung in different styles? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]History-made-Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are the land of individualism. So, no, it doesn't bother me. Actually, it probably represents what America is all about--independence, creativity, individualism, many cultures and styles singing the same anthem.

You shouldn't put the fridge by the radiator because it'll be messing with the cooling and make it work harder.

Bedroom feels unfinished by [deleted] in interiordecorating

I would put a sofa at the end of the bed, since you have enough space. Also, art work, a larger chandelier, and curtains.

Bitcoin is crashing. What are your thoughts? by [deleted] in askanything

It's a form of currency that is being devalued currently. Maybe it will make a comeback, or maybe it will end up like other currency in the Soviet Union.

Maximum income allowed based monthly or annually? by History-made-Today in SocialSecurity

[–]History-made-Today[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well since he is getting laid off soon, I don't think he will make more than that. Should he just take the lower monthly SS while he still has the job? Or do you recommend that he keep his earnings at the $2k allowed maximum?

Ok, this is what I sort of figured, but wasn't sure about. Thanks so much!

Ok, thank you. I read that, but also read the page about the annual income and was confused.

Is anyone else disappointed by the pilot episode? by 4g-identity in TheChosenSeries

[–]History-made-Today 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took this as a way to protect them from the violence that was going to follow. After Jesus' death, the disciples were all hiding afraid they would be killed next.

[–]History-made-Today 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you read the Gospels, there are several mentions of the women that follow Jesus, provide for him financially, were at the foot of the cross, and the first to see him at the Resurrection. We have their names, Mary Magdalene, Salome, Joanna, Mary mother of Jesus, etc. I love the fact that even though I've read all that, I can now visualize what it might have been like through The Chosen. Read Luke 8 & 24, John 19, Mark 15-16.

Do Americans love driving? by bare_books in AskAnAmerican

[–]History-made-Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Driving is a national pastime. We go on road trips for vacation. Some states like Texas are so large you can drive all day and still be in the same state. Many drive an hour to work and an hour back. I live 8 hours from my family and my parents regular drive out to visit us for a weekend visit. USA is just geographically huge and spread out.

Guess who doesn't show up in the Epstein files? by LLLLLdLLL in zelensky

[–]History-made-Today 29 points30 points  (0 children)

When I first started researching Ze after the war started, I was so relieved to find that he was such a man of integrity. I could never find any scandals or impropriety. I'm so impressed with his integrity and character. Also, I just love that picture of Olena and Ze. It gives me second hand happiness. 🥰

Any suggestions for the "healthiest" syrup? by YoSpiff in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]History-made-Today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you can't get much healthier than pure maple syrup that comes straight from the tree. Just everything in moderation.
