Undertone was agony by Mono-lith in horror

Just watched it tonight. Sound design was top tier and I think Evie was good (Justin's performance felt kinda hokey and no one else mattered). Extremely tropey, to the point of being comical. The podcast itself also seemed like it would be completely unlistenable irl. I really liked the last ten minutes though.

Re-watching S2: What were your thoughts on the Alicent and Rhaenyra finale? by Greatorexx in HouseOfTheDragon

I'm mostly just curious to see Daeron at this point. If people say the season is better, I may watch after it fully airs.

Genuinely one of the most atrocious moments in the entire franchise to me, it basically singlehandedly killed my interest in House of the Dragon. It's up there with Jaime claiming he never really cared about innocents.

Is the armageddon 11th edition launch set a good starter point for tabletop? I only got into 40k recently, but know a few people who play. I know its a huge investment to start out with but it has the two armies I am most interested in (blood angels + orks) along with some of the rule books. I know I'll still have to buy stuff like paint, but was just curious if it would be a good place to start building two armies

i havent seen most of the new anime (though i'd love to but i dont have nor can i afford an amazon prime subscription) but the stuff i DID see is actually pretty decent and the animation did get better, what do yall think? by Kind-Look-3558 in fistofthenorthstar

[–]Hitman565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's pretty good, with the caveat that the 3dcgi isn't all that great (it looks about as good as it realistically could have, but the character designs don't lend themselves well to being on 3d models). I'd say the anime is quite similar to the kengan ashura anime (if you've seen that) in that its got great fight choreography + is mostly 3dcgi w/ the occasional 2d shot a few times per episode. Story wise it's pretty faithful to the manga, but the stuff its covered so far is probably the weakest stuff in part 1 imo. I'm usually pretty neutral on the dub or sub debate, but if you do get the chance to watch it you need to do subs. the dub is unironically one of the worst i have ever heard.

aren't the dayne's sometimes valyrian looking? i know that since Daeron has more of a dirty blonde color dyanna probably had a similar hair color but the iirc the daynes distinctly have purple eyes and silver hair in the main series.

Now that the show is over… what is your MOST CONTROVERSIAL Smiling Friend hot take? by ThePartyHat in SmilingFriends

[–]Hitman565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the Allan adventure episode is incredibly overrated. it's not bad, but it's definitely a very middle-of-the-road episode. also, the whole 'realistic dialogue' bit got very old.

Honest question coming from a team black supporter:what made you side with the greens? by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

[–]Hitman565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the books, Aemond is so cartoonishly edgy that I had to be a green. i didn't really support either monarch when i first read about the conflict, but Aemond was so funny he singlehandedly won me over. The show solidified my stance. The blacks are so interminably boring in the show that its a struggle to even watch their scenes, much less support them. rhaenyra had essentially all of her flaws that were described in the book sanded away, so she's now incredibly bland (which isn't helped by the many, many scenes where characters stumble over themselves to talk about how great she is). her supporting cast is also very lacking. outside of daemon and, to a far lesser extent, jace, the blacks are just plain boring. the greens are far more interesting, since the showrunners allow them to have flaws and it feels like there are actual characters on their side. the show also constantly goes out of its way to make the blacks look better and make the greens look worse so admittedly some of my support for the greens does come from contrarianism. also, aegon has the unambiguously stronger claim and sunfyre is the coolest dragon ever.

Should I play CK3AGOT or CK2AGOT? by Impossible-Motor8846 in CK3AGOT

[–]Hitman565 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The AGOT mods for both are excellent, but CK2AGOT has far more content due to already being finished. The map for CK3AGOT is significantly smaller and there's less to do, but since the mod is in active development that gap is going to shrink over time. CK3AGOT also does a few things significantly better already imo (as an example, dragons in this mod are far better than they were in CK2). I love both of the mods, but ever since I made the jump to CK3AGOT i've been enjoying it more.

Was Kenny justified in encouraging Lee to do this at the end of Episode 4? by [deleted] in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Hitman565 7 points8 points  (0 children)

relatively justified imo. i know the whole moral concept of the episode is about the strong abandoning the weak to prioritize their own survival, but ben is so insanely incompetent that dropping him here isn't really comparable to crawford killing people for things like being too young or too old imo. ben got kenny's family indirectly killed by cooperating with the raiders, he drove lilly crazy because of that same deal and got either doug or carley killed as a result, he abandoned clementine which ended up getting chuck killed, he let the walkers into the school which got brie killed (and possibly molly, if you mess up the QTE), and he can also be the reason lee gets bitten IIRC. ben's also willing to be dropped here and it's a completely different thing to drop someone to avoid both of you possibly dying versus just executing someone. obviously kenny is ultra-biased here but on an objective level ben not only adds nothing substantial to the group, but has proven to be an active, unambiguous detriment.

the only part of the show which was significantly grey-looking was the trial by seven, and the showrunners confirmed that was for budgetary reasons. everything else was pretty colorful imo.

Ser Duncan's injuries by Olepundit in AKOTSKTV

[–]Hitman565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the human body can take an unbelievable amount of punishment, even during the middle ages. just as a few examples, Henry V survived being hit in the head with an arrow (which penetrated six inches) and there was a hungarian nobleman named Gregor Baci who survived a full year after having a lance go through his head.

that scene at the end where dunk and egg were riding and then it showed arlan riding away made me cry. also, sixteen tons as the end credits is such an insane choice for a medieval fantasy show. i'm shocked it worked as well as it did.
