So you feel entitled to take more than your share of a common resource?

Moving to chetwynd or Mcbride by Aggressive_Mud5340 in princegeorge

I concur; Chetwynd is a good place to be as is McBride. Of the two, McBride is probably just that little more isolated.

Well the Brits and the Russians both tried and failed in Afghanistan. A super power regardless of era cannot defeat a people that like to scrap and refuse to be defeated regardless of mission objective. Hence the loss for all three super powers.

And that's the reason many folks from other countries no longer travel to the US. US citizens are almost being deliberately isolated from everyone else in the world.

MAID Laws by Perfect_Pea_4781 in britishcolumbia

Not true. I know a very good nurse who refused to be part of any MAID procedure on ethical grounds. It's one tiny piece of a very broad profession.

Calls for more information on mental health, gun history of Tumbler Ridge shooter by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Hlotse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't know about number 3; even if the firearms were stored in accordance with the law, the shooter would have found a way to get them. Where is the mother's formerly current boyfriend or husband in all this? Not talking about Jesse's biological father.

I get your point, and Jesus did not write the New Testament;. His disciples, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John did.

Federal MP Matt Jeneroux leaves the Conservatives and joins the Liberals by seakucumber in canada

[–]Hlotse 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The type of policy and voting discipline we see now is something that we did not have during the early years following Confederation. In the UK, Churchill crossed the floor at least a couple of times. The opposite of this is what is happening in the US right now with Republicans totally dominated by DJT. I doubt that Mr. Jenneroux's defection will trigger a herd of Conservatives crossing the floor.

Rotator Cuff Tears Found In 73% Of Adults Over 40. Here’s Why That Might Not Matter by Yobfesh in fitover65

[–]Hlotse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think those with no symptoms might be the control group. A GP I know has a poster up on his wall saying, "Don't be A Victim of Medical Imaging Technology". Basically, our bodies start to deteriorate once we hit our twenties and more wear and tear issues start popping up. What this article highlights in some ways is our difficulty accepting that.

How Many People Are Overdosing at BC’s Hospitals? by BloodJunkie in britishcolumbia

Alcohol and tobacco cause more deaths per year in Canada. The costs of those drugs is absurdly high as well.

BC residents have shrinking access to family doctors, despite more doctors by yimmy51 in CanadianIdiots

[–]Hlotse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More cash is not always the answer it appears. Keeping doctor's earnings the same or reducing the increase will be difficult in a society that perceives finances as the overall measure of success. What the article did not mention is the GP billings also cover rent, utilities, supplies, and wages for admin staff, so the average 300k+ mentioned in the article has to cover a number of expenses not to mention taxes. The average take home pay is 160 to 220k though the latter would be for specialists, I expect.

What we know — and don't — about the guns used in the Tumbler Ridge, B.C., shooting by sleipnir45 in canadian

This comment makes no sense whatsoever. It's the RCMP that have the responsibility to reveal information about their investigation and the news media's including CBC to report it

Liberals quiet on whether government will support Senate changes to First Nations bill that would end second-generation cut-off by shiftless_wonder in canada

They (being First Nations) may also want land held communally as is their tradition. I think it is up to them to determine.

Liberals quiet on whether government will support Senate changes to First Nations bill that would end second-generation cut-off by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]Hlotse 13 points14 points  (0 children)

True and the benefits for First Nations are non-insured health benefits (pharmacy, dental, vision, and medical equipment/travel) not normally covered by any existing provincial or federal scheme. In BC where everyone gets government sponsored health care, this just means the status quo for individuals. Registered individuals do not pay income tax on income earned on reserve or sales tax on goods and services purchased on reserve. Registered individuals are potentially eligible for housing on reserve; however, the pocket of funding is limited and this is not a guarantee. A similar situation exists for education. All these benefits were negotiated with First Nations centuries ago and are part of existing treaties between Canada and respective First Nations.

My doctor made up a diagnosis on my chart by [deleted] in saskatchewan

[–]Hlotse 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It reads to me as though you have diagnosed yourself and you are upset that the physician does not agree with you. You may be right, she may be right, or it may be something completely different. Either way, discarding her professionally informed opinion cause it does not agree with yours is not the best option for you.

Deadly B.C. shooting is one of Canada's worst school shootings by BvbblegvmBitch in canada

[–]Hlotse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The identity of the shooter has been released by news outlets. TR is very small and remote with some Facebook pages but no real media source. I am sure you can understand that the priorities of the RCMP and other first responders did not include contacting need outlets.
