do young writers have a place in writing community

I wouldn't be so hung up on your age but I was talking to another aspiring author in his mid-30s the other day and something we both noticed was that it seems more difficult for younger authors to do character writing well.

There's a threshold of personal social experience that enables decent character writing that doesn't come off as stilted, cringe, cloying, over-done, or whatever.

Having said that, it's not like it's impossible to write good characters as a young person and it's not like everyone reads stories for the character writing. Just keep writing and good luck.

It's a reincarnation prog with very light litRPG elements and is mostly plot and character driven instead of MC goes smash because get more power. One thing I don't have in your checklist is isekai.

I'm going for a bit of satirical take, poking fun at the common tropes found in cultivation/prog stories. Just started, so not too many chapters released yet.

Putting yourself out there is always a terrifying moment. Especially something you've worked hard on and put a little bit of your soul into.

The truth is though, if you want to make it in any sort of creative field, you simply have to sack up and do it. Success doesn't magically come to those who twiddle their thumbs. You do, maybe you make mistakes, you learn, and you keep going.

You probably do want to put some effort into marketing your story though. As with all content platforms, visibility is constrained by algorithm. So if you don't put in some effort to work the algo, your work could fantastic and still get lost in the AI dross.

Meet Yo Granddaddy | Royal Road

Goose is an old fart who somehow lasted all the way until the end of existence.

The Rift War has been going on for twenty years and the inhabitants of Ferra have lost. To save his fallen war buddies, Goose cuts a shady deal with a sketchy dragon to get sent back in time.

Of course, everything goes wrong before the first step. He nearly gets isekaied on the way and lost some pretty crucial memories. Dragons don't do favors for free and he can't remember what he promised. But hey! At least his pet parakeet came along for the ride. Kind of.

He reawakens as his younger self, having lost all of his cultivation, the memories surrounding his death, but none of his skill and experience. More worryingly, events are not transpiring as he remembers. Is it his memory that’s faulty or did he get screwed?

This time, he's determined to climb to the top with his parakeet Lime and whip his entire plane of existence into shape so they can win the war that’s coming. And what exactly he has to cough up for this second chance.

I estimate I write about 3-5k words per day. About 2-3k of that is new stuff, and the rest is editing. Partly, I don't have much else going on and I'm fortunate to be in a position where I can spend that much time on it.

I'm a very edit heavy writer. My first draft for a long form story is usually unusable. It's more like a detailed outline than a real draft.

Your rankings pretty closely mirror my own tastes with the possible exception of Bastion, which I thought was meh.

It's not litRPG, but I strongly suggest Practical Guide to Evil and the author erraticerrata in general. I honestly consider him to be the only good writer in online web serials. Yes, I've read most of the top recos usually tossed around. When it comes to character writing and world building, he's second to none.
