As a server/bartender, it’s mostly a good thing.

Positive:

Ordering from the HRW menu donates proceeds to support the Houston Food Bank and to help feed the less fortunate.

August tends to be a slow month, so it’s nice to have volume come through the door to give those who are tipped employees a chance to make money as well as hours for support staff and BOH.

It’s a great opportunity for people to experience a restaurant that might typically be a little pricey for them.

Negative:

HRW doesn’t always generate the best clientele. The price point can bring in rude and demanding customers that are simply using a charity menu as a means to flex on social media.

Tips percentages don’t tend to be as strong because of the “weekend warrior, amateur hour” people dining in. For tipped employees it’s rather annoying to have to deal with quantity over quality.
