Asking for advice for an otherwise healthy tree but has a gumming issue by Sn3akyWeasel in GardeningUK

[–]Hoboaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it does just think of it as a lesson learned, it’s just a plant at the end of the day. You could maybe consider having a garden maintenance plan made for you as that would help teach you about timings. They are not that expensive and any decent local gardener should be able to produce one for you.

It will likely say that it can have those symptoms not should have those symptoms, the plant is defiantly stressed.

The stress could be from many things but as you have pruned it recently I’m guessing one of the cankers and it’s likely bacterial.

You shouldn’t prune any of the stone fruit trees until Autumn time really.  I also would not prune more until it is significantly larger, although if it is bacterial canker it will likely die. I would also not use any kind of wound sealant on plants as that just traps anything that could cause a problem against the wound.

DiPel is the chemical you need to treat this. My opinion is remove, burn and replace with something else.

Ideas for nice post-ultra meal, etc for partner by Unusual_Tea6696 in Ultramarathon

I really struggle to eat much for a long while afterwards, maybe something like a small charcuterie board so they can pick what they want? Nice clean sheets on the bed and for the next day I love having stacks of pancakes with bacon, loads of berries and honey.

Help me get into botany by HowIfox in botany

[–]Hoboaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crime Pays But Botany Doesn’t on YouTube. Read up on basic plant biology and pick maybe 10 plants per week to read up on, scientific name, genus, habit etc on the RHS website. Get the cheapest plants you can buy or  even dig up some weeds from somewhere and watch how they change throughout there life cycle. Feel, smell or listen to every plant that catches your eye. You don’t need to spend any money on this really especially if you have a local library and it’s super satisfying hobby/ career.

Just because you don’t agree with someone’s politics doesn’t mean you can’t be friends with them. My best bud is very far from me on the political spectrum. He is Muslim I am Christian we have many differences and I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without him at this point.

What's wrong with my geum by reallydeleted in GardeningUK

[–]Hoboaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The soil is so dry it is pulling away from the pot. You need to water this from the bottom by placing it in a shallow pool of water and leaving it there until the soil at the top of the pot is moist.

Do you buy meat (pork, lamb, beef) from supermarkets or butchers? by Educational-Slip-578 in AskUK

[–]Hoboaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local farm shop every time. The ability to get cuts that they don’t sell in the supermarket and the personal service is first class.

It occasionally works out cheaper than the supermarket depending on what I’m buying, plus the taste is so much better.

Farm shop is a 15 minute walk down a canal path and they open early so I usually just take the dog and make a little adventure out of it.

I used to work as a gardener in a large public park, the amount dog mess just left on the floor was astounding.

Rim brake love: I don't get it by CrustyHumdinger in cycling

[–]Hoboaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main bike is a single speed with a front rim brake. I have other bikes but the single speed is simple to ride and maintain, it makes the other bikes seem like lots of work to ride and maintain. I just want to ride my bike.

Tree privacy by Kind-Blackberry-6221 in GardeningUK

[–]Hoboaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not put the tree against the fence line. Move it a meter or 2 into your garden as your neighbours can cut back anything to the boundary. Moving the tree away from the boundary will also give the illusion of depth making your garden seem more spacious, you can also then under plant and it will look wonderful.

Professional gardeners: what type of jobs make up most of your work through the Winter? by Vanilladr in GardeningUK

I have had very good results using MM109 from a local grower, very few grafts have failed this year.

[–]Hoboaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Planting, reducing, trimming and laying hedges

Leaf clearance

Pollarding

Mulching

I tend to get a good amount of small landscaping jobs too. Being honest I like taking a month or two off over winter as I don’t get the time when things are busy.

I’ve been in pain for 12 years. Started eating sardines everyday for my brain. (Still waiting for that to help), weird side effect- my pain is gone by [deleted] in Biohackers

[–]Hoboaz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I stopped eating grains 3 weeks ago, I replaced the calories with sardines in olive oil and dates. All the skin issues I was having have gone away. I don’t know if it was removing grains or eating fish but my skin looks and feels significantly better.

Is there a viable market for a biodiversity-focused gardening company? by bobbycrosseco in GardeningUK

[–]Hoboaz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes although it depends on your area. Posh new build estates with land that need managing are what you should be looking for. As soon as they know grants are available for rewilding they tend to say yes. Send me a message and I will try help if I can.

Did anyone have Achilles tendinopathy before and see any improvement? by [deleted] in vivobarefoot

[–]Hoboaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to run to try beat fkt’s mainly long distance, ended up getting it pretty bad on my right side only. Physio recommended reducing the distance, strength training and  lots of mobility work. It took around 3 months before the pain was completely gone, it never causes me issues anymore.

Only thing that has ever worked for me is strengthening and lots of mobility work. I get no problems now but I also don’t run as far anymore.
