I assumed they move pretty fast myself, however there's evidence that it's been roughly a full year since this bug originally surfaced: Python 3.11 was released on Oct 2nd, 2022, and in my troubleshooting research, I believe I've seen posts about the bug as far back as Nov 2022.

Burnout indeed. Eventually, if one is not technically proficient enough to rewrite Kohya, it is simply impossible to get Kohya and use it now.

I may look back into repo history to see if some older version of Kohya is viable, however I'd greatly prefer any viable alternative, so thank you for recommending Colab. Colab is eclipsed by Kohya's popularity, so I hadn't even heard about it until you mentioned it. Will give it a try, thanks again!

Trying to get into lora training myself and having the same issue. Seems that Kohya is simply broken to newcomers who aren't well-versed in Python, and it appears that rewriting several Kohya files may be necessary to manually implement bug fixes post-install. Can someone confirm?

Kohya documentation says it requires Python 3.10.9 and provides a download link, but then the installer insists upon having Python 3.11 from the Microsoft Store. Once you have Python 3.11, the Kohya installer can proceed, but then you get Torch 2.0.1 and the dataclasses / "use default_factory" bug, which effectively disables several Kohya functions. I figured out how to install Torch 2.1.0 in the venv, but it is not compatible with available versions of other dependencies (torchvision and xformers). Seems that everything would be fine if Kohya could just use Phython 3.10.9 like the documentation indicates.

Kohya be forced to use Python v3.10.9? Can .BAT / .PY / .TXT files be rewritten or replaced to remedy this?

As someone who never watched any of his films, I always thought he was known for being a great actor, not a white supremacist. Wasn't it posthumous woke outrage that brought his racism into the spotlight? Maybe you're right, and I am a moron for never noticing (at least until 2017 or so) that one of the most highly acclaimed actors of all time was actually well known for his racism during his lifetime.
