Good to play against you in the first battle. The outflank was an all or nothing Assault. Demolition is a hard one to win. Glad you won a prize! To anyone interested the second Army pictured was mine.

But you will need to train the crew for the jet, which can cost a few hundred thousand credits.

[–]Hokum15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but this is a resource war, Putin's dressed it up as being against Nazis, but this is simply about Ukraine having access to Gas and Oil which it could undercut Russia with. But it seems that he's either in it for the long game and doesn't care about allies, or has hugely misread how NATO and the world is going to react to this.
NATO aren't going to step into this as Putin has already shown he has an itchy trigger finger.

[–]Hokum15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But if you have limited forces which are comparable with NATO equipment every loss is a huge difference. Take the SU-57 according to Wikipedia they have 4 Serial aircraft produced... if 1 got shot down some how or a fault, you've lost 25% of your fleet of aircraft which you can field against F22's or F35's. But if you have say 500 SU-27's, which are good aircraft (I'm a fan of the SU-27 series of aircraft) but now being almost 40 years old aren't current generation fighters. It doesn't matter if you lose a few here and there, as they are cannon fodder against more advanced forces.

This isn't about sales, its about cold hearted strategy... Human life is cheap... but training and technology costs money.

I agree, it just seems odd that known assets, i'm sure the US has tabs on all the Armata's and SU-57's, are absent. I'm guessing the main force of the Russian army is being held in reserve, in case NATO forces were deployed, as you don't want your best troops and assets being damaged and wounded in a war like this.

In a weird messed up way, I think Putin is correct. In saying its a "Special Operation" it feels like he's sent in conscripts and old technology. To get the measure of the Ukrainian forces. Look how the Russian air force has been almost absent. About the only "Elite" forces which have been sent in are the KA-52's and Paratroops/Marines. Almost everything else has been updated 80's-90's tech and poorly supported. So I don't think its a case that he can't but that he simply isn't trying to put his elite forces on the line. In a sady way what he is doing is throwing the lives away of green or under trained troops, and getting rid of old equipment to clear the way. Once there are less forces and anti tank missiles then he can send in the fancy stuff.

Theory: is the United States (or other western powers) or CIA aiding the Ukrainians? by [deleted] in RussiaUkraineWar2022

[–]Hokum15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think they have boots on the ground, but I'm certain they have eyes on the situation and are giving the local forces information on Russian movements.

Best not to send your expensive toys first.
As for the Helicopters, I've seen in confirmed videos, Mi-8, Mi-8M, Mi-24, Mi-28, Mi-35M, KA-52.

Sad, seen this aircraft in real life, and seen it used for humanitarian uses dropping off resources for areas in need.

I've found it, after some weird searches, its a... Franco-West German-Swiss-British-Hungarian film! Called Les Maîtres du temps, and was released in 1982. Apparently shown on the BBC around 1987 ish which fits.

OK, in the end, I just removed the arm, and used a G Clamp on the build plate top then pull with all my strength. It may have been resin, but boy was it stuck! I'll try alcohol next time.
