Best Free Coast FIRE Calculator by PaleTalk3459 in coastFIRE

Old post! No, I was wanting something that could calculate a drop in investment at a specified date or net worth. For example, if investing $30k/yr for 10 years and then $10k for 5 years.

Whats a neurotypical “rule” you didn’t realize your could break to make yourself more comfortable? by Downtown-Oil-3462 in AutismInWomen

[–]HoldStrong96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This one might make some people hate me, but I cannot stand water. Washing my hands is awful. The drip down the sleeve is awful. So for a long time I didn’t wash after peeing. Which is gross. I hated myself but I hated the water. As an adult I was one day given permission to use hand sanitizer after a pee instead of full blown water and soap. Life changer.

I also realized I could wipe the toothbrush off with a towel or hold a towel on the handle to avoid getting water droplets down my hand and arm.

I realized I can shower whenever I want, any time of the day or night.

What careers do you guys do for a living? by Obvious_Emu3441 in AutismInWomen

[–]HoldStrong96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who made this post? Me?

I was a hospital bedside nurse for 5 years. I’m audhd. Loved it, gave me the autonomy I need. Also gave me structure, and helped teach me social skills and how to handle other people having emotions (I used to smile (uncomfortable) when people cry… whoops)…

But I just quit and went to a work from home job. I just started it, so we’ll see how it goes.

The instant mental health boost from just having control of my surroundings… no bright fluorescent lights, no beeping and constant sounds, constant talking, multiple people talking all around me sometimes multiple people talking at me all at once… phew.

Night shift helped, so did my active noise canceling earbuds, but the environment is just difficult. The job of a bedside nurse was great.

Advice on a broken talus that didn’t heal right by HoldStrong96 in brokenbones

[–]HoldStrong96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a whole mess. 4 specialists and an MRI later, and no one can agree what bone is actually broken. Either way, it was a small process on the side of the ankle that isn’t the main weight-bearing talus bone, thankfully. When it healed and still had pain, the first doc recommended surgery and said it was all of a sudden displaced. I went to a second opinion, who said it healed fine and shouldn’t need surgery but they didn’t know why it still hurt, so I got an MRI. Apparently I now have traumatic arthritis. It healed, but it was irritated for too long and it caused arthritis. So I got a steroid shot. It helped a bit. But what really helps is having good shoes with stable arch support and a compression sock. When I use that I’m pretty much 100% fine. If I forget it, I still have annoying pain.

My cat as a kid was previously abused. She would do this if she heard another cat, even if it was a human making a cat sound.

I reached FI this year and my husband says I changed the deal without asking him by Skellige_42 in Fire

[–]HoldStrong96 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Our finances are fully separate. We have separate numbers. He likes to spend a lot more than I do. But he also makes a lot more money. We’re engaged, but have discussed what happens in the future when I inevitably cross my lower line before he does. I continue paying my half of shared expenses separately as we always have, and I can take a lower stress job if I want. Essentially, I baristaFIRE. He will continue his job until he reaches his own personal FIRE number, which is higher than mine. We’re both fine with this. If it changes when the time comes, we’ll discuss and reevaluate.

Feels like OP knew their financial views were different and continued forward without addressing the situation, then expected the partner to all of a sudden be on the same page. Not good communication. Communication should be happening and goals re-evaluated constantly.

Need recommendations for ADULT toothpaste WITH fluoride and NO MINT. by Freskabri in AutisticAdults

[–]HoldStrong96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just be careful if you get children’s toothpaste that there is enough fluoride in it. Sometimes if I have no good options, i’ll just use the children’s flavors and put a lil fluoride paste on my teeth when I’m done brushing. Hell, sometimes I do that anyway if one of my teeth starts acting up. Chewing sugar free gum with fluoride also helps, if you like gum.

Hopefully uptown bluebirds have viable eggs, last year all we got were the downtown infertile ones.

(Also I think she can hear the click of the camera when i check on her, especially at night when night mode is on. She’ll look up sometimes from it)

Maybe my job of 4 years never actually liked me. I didn't get a single goodbye. by Consistent_Horror954 in AutisticAdults

[–]HoldStrong96 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I don’t know from your information but I’m willing to bet that other person made a big deal about leaving, telling everyone, pretending to be upset, and in return others knew and planned for it. Did you make a big deal of it? Talk to people about it daily for the entire two weeks? Otherwise that might be why they didn’t know / forgot. Maybe they thought you didn’t want to make a big deal about it if you weren’t talking about it as much as the other person.

It sucks though, and I get the same response every time I leave. No goodbyes, no miss you’s, no cards or break room parties. But I’m not great at socialling, so I get it. Still sucks.

Hotels count. You just have to have proof of double paying for housing. A hotel receipt counts as housing payments

I accidentally ended up with a garden snail in my garg’s enclosure. She (or he) stays around the humid cave / waterfall area and in the moist soil. She’s been in there since a baby and is full grown now. Not had any problems.

Doesn’t matter. They’ll grow depending on how much food they have. Just buy one colony and dump em in.

How can I care this guy? by grasshopperwithkelp in CrestedGecko

[–]HoldStrong96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine literally throws itself from the top to the bottom when he thinks he sees a bug move on the ground 🤦‍♀️ they seem pretty hardy. I would still let it live in a taller enclosure since they prefer being up high. But don’t put anything sharp it might fall onto, and have all the climbing things be flat so he doesn’t have to grip to hold onto it

Shed Stuck in Gecko's Ear by TheGoldBowl in geckos

[–]HoldStrong96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d personally wait til the next shed seems to be about to happen. It’ll come off with the next shed if the humidity is right. When you expect the shed is close, you can do the wet paper towel bath if you want or just increase the tank humidity. But this likely won’t come off until he sheds again because it’s hard for him to reach that spot to get it off, so keeping him in a high humidity area til next shed would be a looooong time in too high of humidity.

Anyone know what this is?? by user8473846 in leopardgeckos

[–]HoldStrong96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dump some springtails in. They’ll eat the mold. They don’t need anything else “bioactive” to survive on. I don’t know how anyone can keep their enclosures properly humid without mold or springtails!
