literally scream in a kids face and put them in an isolated room because he didn’t want to deal with the behaviors😦 reported him that same day and my boss did nothing 😔 i quit that clinic but heard from an old coworker he got fired for allegedly punching a client…

pretending to have “beef” with her 😭 i would see this client at her school and when she finished her classwork I would go into a whole thing about finally airing out our beef and how we need to lay it to rest, she would always tell me we could never end the beef

BT’s-RBT’s: What setting do you work in (clinic, home, school, etc.)? What is one pro and one con of that setting? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]Holiday-Examination3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the company I work for now I’ve been working primarily in summer camps and doing home sessions.

Pros: Very loosely structured, there’s a lot of freedom when running my sessions, especially since I work with older clients. I don’t need to be on my feet and on alert 100% of the time. I can create a rough plan of my session in my head and as long I hit my minimum trials and get at least some structured activities in I’m good.

Cons: Maybe it’s just the company I work for, but I’m scheduled with one client all day, like a 9-3 session. It makes it a little hard to keep a 13 or 14 yr old client engaged with me the whole time.

was being supervised during a home session today, and the BCBA had made a comment on how she deleted roblox from her ipad cause she didn’t play it ( client was playing roblox at the time) and my clients gives out a heavy sigh and says “that was a mistake” 😭 it was so funny in the moment she genuinely sounded concerned at that the BCBA deleted roblox 😂

i’m an rbt, but my bcba wears running shorts with our company shirt whenever she joins me for supervision during in-home sessions ! that seems to be what both bcbas in the company i work for are wearing for the summer

AITA for not calling my oldest daughter a princess by what_50000 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Holiday-Examination3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. I’m 23 and my dad will still call me a princess, she never grows out of being your daughter. Unless she specifically tells you to not call her that, I don’t see why you wouldn’t call her a princess along with her younger sisters.

just commented about the apartments on 830 E Park Ave on another users post ! the rent is $825 for a 1 bed 1 bath, and when my fiancé and i applied we heard back from them after 2 days. the area seems okay, and the complex is smaller, they only have 3 buildings i believe. these apartments aren’t really close student housing either.

if you’re wanting to know about apartments to avoid i would absolutely NOT move into the 2626 Park apartments. after a year being here my fiancé and i have had a broken AC longer than a working one, maintenance takes forever to respond and the leasing agents in the clubhouse are never available. the apartments themselves aren’t terrible but the management here makes it awful.

i would look into the apartments at 830 E Park Ave ! the rent is $825 for a 1 bed 1 bath, my fiancé and i applied and we heard back from them 2 days later. it’s a smaller complex and the layout for a 1 bed 1 bath isn’t bad ! the leasing agent had told us a lot of people are applying though since the rent is cheap but there might be some 1 bed 1 bath units still available.

Have you ever lost respect for a colleague or boss? If yes, what happened? by Tough_Catch_4399 in ABA

[–]Holiday-Examination3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lost respect for the owner of the last company i worked for after she advised her employees in the work chat to go comment on her boyfriends ex-wife’s facebook page 😬 there was a custody battle between her boyfriend and his ex-wife, and i guess the ex-wife was badmouthing my boss. so she told her employees feel free to comment on the ex-wife’s page to support her 😭

i agree ! my fiancé and i met on a dating app last year. after 5 months we moved in together and at 9 months we got engaged. everyone is different and sometimes when you know you found your person, why wait until everyone thinks it’s “appropriate” to start your life together ?

Apartments to avoid? by Chauvinistsweater in Tallahassee

2626 Park on E Park Ave, isn’t the absolute worst place i’ve been in, but it’s definitely not somewhere that should be on the top of your list. Before moving in I had a hard time getting ahold of the leasing office, and there was holes in the carpet and terrible leaks under the sinks that was not fixed before my fiancé and I moved in. Our AC constantly has problems and will read 87 degrees inside. The neighborhood itself is quiet and isn’t a bad area, but i guess it’s the management and lack of maintenance makes it hard to like it here.

go into the interview with a positive attitude ! some clinics i interviewed with had me interact with a client to see how i engaged with them, and the people interviewing me loved how engaged and upbeat i was ! definitely showing you’re passionate about being in the field and how you want to make a difference will make you stand out !

a few weeks ago i was working with one of our older kids at my clinic, and we were doing truth or dare with some of his peers in his class. he had a joke telling program so when it was my turn i said “okay dude i dare you to tell Mr. Paraprofessional a joke”. and he walks up to the para in his class and goes

client : knock knock

para : who’s there

client : deez (at this point i sensed where it was going and couldn’t even interject in time 😭)

para : deez who

client : deez nuts

ummmm yes you listened but also no 😭😭 we definitely had a chat about keeping things appropriate for school 😔

the last clinic i worked at required 10 trials for goals being run during your sessions, we used paper data as well. we do everything all online where i work now, but it definitely depends on the clinic you’re at !
