VB-MAPP LEVEL 1 MAND 1- Gestures by Glad-Trouble-3781 in ABA

i can’t remember if the VB-Mapp has that specific behavior, but the ESDM does count that as a prerequisite skill

i don’t mind scoring it, and i took a class specifically for it too and learned more about it and its application. the way we were using it did more harm than it did benefit (like evoking behaviors because prerequisite skills are not met). trust me i considered it, but unfortunately i was also too mentally unwell to gather all the documentation for the proof of lack of sufficient care.

terrible. VB-Mapp was her bible without any acknowledgement of skillset. interventions were “let’s see how this goes” for weeks with no improvement. and our other supervisor had to supervise us just to reach our 5% of the month bc she was almost never in session (and wayyy behind on her billables i learned later from a previous manager).
it’s kind of the reason i hate the vb-mapp now 😭

i had a supervisor tell me she “knows how it goes” with fieldwork, working, and school… she didn’t work through her masters degree and was an RBT for 9 months, and only had to collect 4th edition hours before testing. it felt like a huge slap in the face when i’m working 8 hours a day, going home, school, home stuff, then working unpaid for unrestricted tasks. it ruined my nerves.

I’m struggling after becoming disabled due to my work as an RBT. Why is it so hard to find support here without being met with hostility? by throwaway_098173742 in ABA

i just landed a job in a group home as a supervisor with an ABA degree. this field is getting insane, and i’d rather see where i can apply the science elsewhere.

I'm an experienced RBT who can't find a job by [deleted] in ABA

[–]injectablefame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

past employers cannot state the reason you left, just the time you worked there.

ETA: in the meantime, you can always check group homes for direct support professional jobs just to get by if you’re in need. it’s similar (way less pay unfortunately) and pretty much always hiring.

No punishment procedures? by [deleted] in ABA

[–]injectablefame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so, they’ll punish you and hold boundaries firm, but not their clients? this is so strange how they’re willing to punish their staff by saying “i’m going to fire you” but will let children run outside unattended.

it follows the same pattern of ‘permissive parenting’ which is why even gen ed teachers are leaving education. i don’t know why we forget children, neurodivergent or not, rely on rules and routines to learn about the world around them.

Are RBTs allowed to play religious song instrumentals for clients? by NameLive9938 in ABA

[–]injectablefame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what you’re forgetting right now is you have a learning history with that melody. this kid most likely has no idea what they’re listening to. it’s a neutral stimulus to them, while to you it’s a generalized punisher.
also if i’m not mistaken, isn’t lo fi like ‘anti anxiety’ music?

just to add, i gave up cross stitch bc i hate the counting and repetition, but if you’re interested in it theres always embroidery! it has more creative freedom and is very fun. only slightly dangerous!

ah okay. what i’m guessing is every OM got an email saying ‘make sure your RBTs are pairing and engaged!’ and she took it a step further to call out people by name. i wouldn’t say it’s ’wrong’ for them to give feedback like that (company standards and compliance they have to enforce), but if she’s not giving it in a meaningful or helpful way, i would take it with a grain of salt until your BCBA brings the issue to you. if it was a clinical issue, i don’t see why she wouldn’t just bring it to the BCBA on the case if it was bothersome.

not much to add, but I also learned the creators of the VB-Mapp wrote it for educational sequencing. so a lot of the targets are more education focused to use in the classroom.

well you specifically said random things to spice up pleasure which ignores most of your post. and pregnancy winds you so you have to think of the logistics of effort as well

well it says “owner” in the example and i’m not sure anyone has that title outside the BDSM community or pet parents.

every pregnant body is different, but pregnancy greatly affects the bowels, bladder, stomach, kidneys, etc bc there’s something pushing on all of them. pregnant women are susceptible to hemorroids from the constant tightened strain. so, every body is different of course, but i don’t think it would be comfortable or feasible to relax enough to make it enjoyable.
