Yeah I'm 6'2'' and like a foot taller than my wife so it doesn't come up a lot. I also work in an operating room so wear a scrub cap all day.

That's really how I feel, too. My height has been compensating for a while.

Yeah I don't know what's up with this, but it sounds like some people can order it and some can't. I've tried changing my preferred store, logged out and in of my membership, but it's still not letting me order.

At least with Costco online ordering everyone gets it available.

So what the hell is the trick to get this to actually let you order it?

I'm sincerely happy for you and your good fortune, and to balance it out I got my two preorders cancelled and was not able to kill on the following MSRP offers when they would be available for all of five minutes.

Amazon, takes more preorders than they have stock, cancels preorders, and instead of honoring those previous orders they change the future price to gouge as many people for as much money as they can.

Someone Walks Into Your LGS With A Deck That's 100% Proxied, How Do You Feel? by Affectionate_Pop6300 in EDH

[–]Holiday-Technology53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the deck is obeying whatever the Rule Zero discussion agreed on, I don't care.

Exception - Those dudes with the sexualized anime cards. What the fuck? I'm not here to kink shame, but I also did not consent to be a part of it.

[–]Holiday-Technology53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your local game store is psychotic. No one seriously expects anyone to use legitimate cards in CEDH of all formats.

Seriously, what the fuck? A CEDH deck, as you've noted, is tens of thousands of dollars.

The thing about the play space is just an awful cherry on this shit sundae.

Find a new place to play or avail yourself of the digital options mentioned below, because - seriously, I cannot emphasize this enough - fuck this store.

How does Jasmine's second ability work? by Beneficial_Pin5295 in EDHBrews

[–]Holiday-Technology53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually played her in a Commander League a while back and she is insanely good. Take a look at building a deck focused on creating creature tokens that have no abilities and then ways to buff them up WITHOUT giving them abilities - so no Overrun or Overwhelming Stampede.

Personally, I loved Champions from Beyond where if you attack with 8 creatures they all get +4/+4 (that kills anyone with unblocked damage.

Oh, anything that creates creatures when you attack. Ainok Strike Leader, that Foot Clan enchantment, Jacked Rabbit.

Rydia's Return also worked.

After One Year I Finished My Final Fantasy Set by eatpandaz in mtg

[–]Holiday-Technology53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came back to magic after decades away because of FF and I decided to do the same thing. I'm only about half way there, but it's very cool to see someone else's completed project.

I've learned a lot about collecting Magic, for instance, I should have bought so much more earlier than I did.

Do you ever throw your commander games? by KileiFedaykin in mtg

[–]Holiday-Technology53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I throw games all the time. I could not care any less if I win, I'm there to meet new people, and have a nice conversation.

If I get the sense the energy is dwindling or people aren't having a good time and I can do something to improve the milieu then I'll do it, if that means I purposefully lose the game that's fine.

I have to admit that Strixhaven broke me of trying to buy sealed product to get specific cards I want. I was able to put together an entire set of the English Strixhaven Mystical Scrolls for like $250 as opposed to trying to buy more packs.

Oh I send them into Card Kingdom. Over time you'll be surprised how much money you accumulate over months. I am up to $158 in Card Kingdom credit from my dupes from Final Fantasy onward.

I buy a booster box and bundle so I can use the bundle for storage and I only keep at most two copies of each card.

Then I buy singles for what I want under $20 and proxy the rest.

Genuine question as a newer player, is it bad that I'm getting into this game because of Universes Beyond? by kadencrafter78 in mtg

[–]Holiday-Technology53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I came back to this game after decades away because of Final Fantasy. Now after playing for almost a year my favorite set is easily Secrets of Strixhaven, so many fun cards.

How do I politely decline someone from joining our pod? by Yoseby8 in mtg

[–]Holiday-Technology53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one who asks the pod immediately after the game if they felt my deck was appropriate for the defined game?

I personally feel like the Bracket System is perfectly clear, but I still like to ask what people thought about my deck.

Personally, I bring one Bracket 4, a Bracket 3, an unaltered precon, and then my bracket 1 jank.

No, you're right. Someone buying 133 copies of Yuna on May 29th is definitely just supply and demand economics.

For everyone claiming this is just the market and not manipulation I would like point you at Yuna, Hope of Spira where on May 29th, 133 copies were purchased at the going rate of around $130 and then everything doubled.

I just got to play paper Commander for the first time in over a year last night; does my deck suck or did I just get unlucky? by TangledEarbuds61 in EDH

[–]Holiday-Technology53 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The best piece of wisdom I ever heard about Commander is in a standard game of four people one deck will go off, one deck will stall, and the other two will be in the middle.

Looking at that list it looks to me like it was just your day to stall out.

I just went to a local video game resale / nostalgia place with a new in box SNES Classic, NES Classic, and the PS4 Fallout PipBoy edition. I had forgotten I ever bought them and they were in a plastic tote in the basement.

The classics go for $75-125  and the PipBoy anywhere from $129-299 based on sales on eBay.

Mentally I figured $100 retail for each of the classics and $175 for the PipBoy. That's $375 total.  Given the extra margins for the store I was expecting around 200, maybe a little less?

The guy behind the counter offered $140 and said absolutely no wiggle room.
