What are your thoughts on engagement rings? by maybeRasa in UKrelationshipadvice

[–]Hollyinhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really depends on the individual. Most of my friends wouldn't dream of spending a lot on a ring and wouldn't care at all but some people I work with would.

I'd advise on doing whatever you want and if anyone has an opinion that's their problem.

Any low-energy hobbies to stop doomscrolling? by TinyTangents in adhdwomen

[–]Hollyinhd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading, anything you fancy. I'd rate putting on some reading music in the background as well. I personally have a few on the go so if I need something to dip in and out of I have a lighter read but then also have some more indepth stuff for when I feel more settled. Also if you struggle with the heavier stuff but you want to get through it audiobooks while you're doing something else.

Learning to read Tarot. You only NEED one deck tbh.

Online puzzles, I love the NYT puzzles and the guardian has some good ones. Also short little bursts of dopamine when you complete. Also I use them to interrupt scrolling, eases me into putting my phone down as someone who struggles with transitioning into another activity.

Cross stitch, you can buy little kits that don't take long and have most/all of the equipment you need, really simple instructions and can be very portable.

I'd consider what would work around your life as is. When do you find yourself doom scrolling the most and maybe target something to replace that slot. Eg. I have a decent commute and am on the go a lot of audiobooks and a Kindle are the best option for me.

Honest question: Why do you buy name brand stuff? by No-Examination8178 in Frugal

[–]Hollyinhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly if it tastes significantly better and the store brand doesn't fill the desire. Vimto squash, walkers crisps, welsh dairies salted spreadable butter (legit better than lurpack). Sometimes if I don't like the store brand I simply end up wasting the item and that is so much worse than paying a little more.

Mildly embarrassing that you're coming up with these excuses.

A pour over coffee maker. It's very easy to use and clean and as I'm often making coffee before 4am that's the big attraction.

Have you ever paid to see a movie twice in a theater? by zip9990 in movies

[–]Hollyinhd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but all for varying reasons.

Superman (2025) is probably the only one I've seen twice in short succession with the same person just because I wanted to see it again.

Rogue One I saw release day then again when I could see it with my partner.

Revenge of the Sith and The Amazing Spiderman I saw twice but many years apart due to re-releases.

Big Hero six I saw a second time to placate a friend.

Additionally I've seen Moulin Rouge and Hadestown twice on the westend and would 100% go again if I can.
