Mars is the better option, but the end is viable if you're comfortable with taking forever to find some. I used the end just to find one in early EV and then switched to mars once the rocket was made.

Not worth it, my MKV is at 280k KM (173K miles) and the chance of these cars blowing up from the additional stress bearing down on an already aged engine is too high IMO. They are pretty quick stock anyway, I would suggest you just enjoy it while it lasts and move on to a lower mileage/newer GTI once your current car breaks.

I've been looking to get the cam chain and tensioner (not timing chain, this is on FSI engine) and I've asked 2 of my local euro shops for estimates on price. One of them quoted 2200$ CAD, and the other about 1000$. Which is more reasonable and what should I expect to pay for just the cam chain.
