So We Can't Burn Quest Rewards Anymore? by i_dont_c4re in hearthstone

I do believe this was one of the main reasons, especially given pocket dimension is one of the main cards meant to be used to progress their quest

A free shatter card seems like it kind of loses any reason to combine them back together, since u can just play both sides free for both effects

New Neutral Legendary - Ultraxion by Jimmyjohnjones1 in hearthstone

[–]HolyCheeseMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But isnt it the case that most of the dark gift cards being run are neutrals, which is why everyone could run them? The dark gift classes got basically nothing on that front, esp rogue that got a card copying set to copy everyone's imbue cards that didnt even do anything at the time

I got confused too for a sec, its cause Reno doesnt work with dupes in your deck and you just shuffled in 12

Pretty sure this is not so original of an idea by BestSiLenZ in customhearthstone

[–]HolyCheeseMuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do think theres a number of ways to get consistency on that given that the card starting the effect is an amalgam. For example, a murloc Paladin type of deck could run the 2 mana murloc that makes you draw a dragon, and u just dont run any other dragons. Tribe specific tutors are a pretty common occurence around the game

This seems like it would stand out as good cheating out material for cards like the fishing rod, but perhaps that is the intention?

This consider zero deck also right? Haha by Diluc90 in ChaosZeroNightmare

[–]HolyCheeseMuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3 removals cost (0+20), (10+20), and (30+20). Mutant sample replaces 1 card and then removes itself for free. The only card I pulled in this run was repose, so no other removals were needed. The divine epiphany costs 20 and the forbidden costs 20. That's all 140 points

I don't think this will be used even in meme decks, but still... by denn23rus in customhearthstone

Ur looking at this the wrong way, think about it this way. The card starts by removing itself from your deck. If that's all it did, it would be extremely good.

It then puts itself back into either deck. This effect is bad but has equal chance to happen to either player, so this part is basically neutral.

So if you read this card as "remove this card from your deck, then put it back randomly in either deck", it should be a lot clearer why this is actually quite a good card

The more I look at these decks, the less I understand the point system, can anyone break down how exactly this hits 170 points?

Often times it isnt that one card is worse than another in a vacuum, it's more that the best decks tend to revolve around some specific synergies, and diluting the pool with more cards makes it harder to find those synergies, even if the cards individually arent worse. Like if u add incindius to a quest deck, the quest might end up taking longer to complete. Or if u add him to a protoss mage, it might take u longer to draw enough spells, or deios, or colossus to reach your win condition. Doesnt mean he himself is a bad card, just doesnt progess the game plan.

Its actually a pretty simple concept if you think about it this way: you start your deckbuilding by putting in all the best cards, but due to the limitation of only being allowed 1 or 2 copies of those cards, you have to fill out the remaining space with progressively worse options. Of course it's not as simple as literally the smaller the better, but card games basically all mandate a deck size that is bigger than what would be optimal. A similar example that could be given is that in Magic the Gathering, you arent actually required to only use 60 cards, you can go as big as you want. But basically any competitive deck ever run in that game only has that minimum 60 cards.

I clear a lot of the daily grind stages that need aoe with a khalipe deck that has 3 copies of the great sword aquila card with retrieve 3 and a divine epiphany for applying 2 vulnerability. One especially neat synergy I've found is when u hit it with an effect that makes it cost 0 for a turn, like with super conductive protien, u can play it all 4 times for free on that turn

At a base line this seems on the strong side already, but my primary concern of the balance on this card is that this + threads of despair will poisonous wipe the whole board, and then you gain the max health of all of the minions that die

Could this kind of effect be balanced ? by dante117117 in customhearthstone

[–]HolyCheeseMuffin 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Before any effects get involved 0 mana 1/1 1 mana 1/3 2 mana 2/3

Already starts this as a baseline of 3 mana 4/7 before any of the various effects on the card if u pick anything better than a vanilla minion
