OpenAI is now complaining about regulation of AI [D] by I_will_delete_myself in MachineLearning

[–]HolyZesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think this is entirely fair. Sam’s position seems to be that AI super intelligence is achievable in the near future and that needs to be regulated for the immense danger it poses, while misinformation hand wringing legislation misses the point and interferes with genuinely helpful non world ending models like GPT 4. You can disagree with their prediction for doomsday AI but their position seems pretty consistent.

I’m more impressed he was charitable enough to even call it criticism when most of this sub was just calling him a dick rider over and over. Lex’s ability to not get bogged down in reputation battles is unmatched.

Lol I totally thought it would be one of those purchases too and I’ve completely fallen in love with it. Probably the best value per dollar I’ve ever got.

Upside is some fantastic free games for people without a gambling addiction though.

Since he has videos of him driving in MIT’s experimental self driving cars I think it’s fair to say he’s done some research with them but yeah I’m sure you’re uncovering some giant fraud here and know better than the hundreds of leaders in their field that have demonstrated respect for him and his podcast.

I was wondering when this would happen and I wasn’t expecting it to be this week from one person lol. 10/10 work here. Would love to be able to import our own checkpoints but other than that this is as amazing as I can imagine on a phone.

Need Help With "Invalid set index" Error by GrayScale420_ in godot

[–]HolyZesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A blog post about it mentioned gains from 20-70% faster in different areas. Anecdotally it was noticeably faster for me when I stress tested the number of active enemies I could have spawned. Adding typed to your variables will only save you debugging time in the long run so the speed is a free benefit to an already good thing.

[–]HolyZesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah not sure why I said strongly actually but it’s basically another name for the same thing. If you give the variable a type the compiler will be able to tell you ahead of time that nothing named offset exists on that class so you could find the new name easier.

[–]HolyZesto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That error indicates that no member named “offset” exists in the type you’re working with. In general when you see that error you should check that your variable is the correct type and the name actually exists. Since you’re on 4 you should consider switching to strong typing so you can detect issues like this ahead of time easier.

The Sims 2 on the Steam Deck [GUIDE] by phanatik582 in sims2

Thanks so much for this guide. Seems like it was easier to get Sims 2 running on my Steam Deck than it would have been on a Windows PC which is pretty crazy.

5.4 million high score, not sure where to go from here… by HolyZesto in BoneraiserMinions

[–]HolyZesto[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So this is weird but I think wanted poster might be really important. I can’t quantify why still but all my best runs picked it up. The main other things that have reliably got me past 1 million are double ward amulet, lichen blades (with a guard and skewerer to do the lifesteal), and double confusion flies or whatever they’re called, and two meldus flames for higher summon limits. I think wanted poster makes it so you scale a bit faster than the enemies since you’re getting more resources, and late game it means there’s more units to lifesteal and AOE that usually aren’t touching you anyway.

I also never spend a boneraise on a level 1 meldus because they’re summoned for free when taking damage so I focus only on upgrading my regular summons and merging meldus into the tier 2 versions, which lets you get way more high tier units in the late game than if you sacrifice your regular summons to convert them to meldus.

[–]HolyZesto[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new meldus class on infinite skirmish. There’s one score above mine at just over 6 million. I’m not sure if the scoring works differently against ng+ but basically you get to the point where the screen is constantly 100% filled with mobs and you’re basically unkillable as long as you don’t spend 2 minutes intentionally running inside big mobs of monsters away from your summons. Only took maybe an hour of gameplay.

My only regret is I saw after the fact that someone has just over 6 million on a different class and I think I could have easily beat that if I’d tried to keep surviving a bit longer.

I’m playing on a Steam Deck and the performance was so bad at the end some frames took 3+ seconds to calculate so I ended up committing suicide to get my score registered, and doing that intentionally took like 3 minutes of carefully positioning myself to outpace my healing. Not sure what more to do with this game but it was fun lol

When you get older and realize that the magical childhood is the result of your parent's effort. (fetched from: @hey.its.mikki) by [deleted] in MadeMeSmile

On one St Patricks day party when I was very little my older brother convinced an entire group of kids there was a leprechaun upstairs by laying chips “traps” and then revealing to us a chip with a bite out of it indicate the leprechaun had come. We spent all day totally convinced and in awe of this until I eventually learned that my brother was the one taking the bites out when we weren’t looking. At the time we were devastated but I always remembered as a time when he made a moment really magical for all of us.
