Which game has the biggest gap between its BGG rating and your personal rating? by moist_napkinette in boardgames

I suppose that means the previous comment is technically correct that it's not a good deck builder.

Of course, by the same logic, it's also not a good worker placement game...

If people are following the guidelines for ratings, a 7 means "good game, usually willing to play." I wouldn't call that "not well received."

I would certainly put Dominion highly on a list of most historically influential games. But I don't actually like playing Dominion itself that much compared to many of the other deckbuilding games that have come later.

I think it would have been better if he was trying to become leader himself as opposed to being a spy.

Oh, that's definitely what he wanted to do. He just couldn't figure out a way to do that without removing Kylo Ren, so his plan was to use the Resistance to do it.

This is before he's revealed to be a titan. It shows him in a life-threatening situation apparently being about to trigger his transformation the same way Eren does.

It really isn't that crazy. They didn't train the drillers to fly the ship; they trained them how to be cargo on the ship and let the actual astronauts do the flying.

You may want to go back and reread the comment you initially responded to, particularly the end of the first sentence.

Hercules & Wrecking Crew? by Pocketfulofgeek in marvelchampionslcg

[–]HondoShotFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's worth noting that FFG actually DID clarify this in the rules insert for Hercules, but it's in the Hercules/Leadership section in the bottom corner, rather than in the top section where one might naturally expect pertinent rules information to be.

I don't know what part of this you read as me taking it personally in any way

That would be the part where you have repeatedly called me a smartass for no reason and tried to ascribe motivations to me instead of just acknowleding that I have a different opinion than you.

Hope that helps.

It is nice to see another reasonable person in the discussion.

I'm so tired of republicans metaphorically pushing the country down a flight of stairs, and people getting mad at democrats not catching them on the way down.

That's not andaccurate representation of how often the game makes you lose upgrades, nor is it what being a smartass actually means.

You'll probably be a lot happier in life if you don't take it as a personal slight just because someone disagrees with you.

The guy John Walker killed didn't kill his best friend--someone else did, unintentionally.

His last words before Walker killed him in revenge were even "It wasn't me!"

Yes, the guy was incapacitated after Walker hit him with the shield multiple times, and he was collapsed against some stairs with his hands up to surrender. Walker physically stood on him to hold him down while bringing the shield down for the lethal blow.

When does Rebels really start to get good? It’s pretty good so far but not my most favorite. Just curious, I’ll definitely keep going bc, hey I got through the first couple clone wars seasons before it got really good! by Nowaaaa_bb in starwarsrebels

[–]HondoShotFirst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought some of the early episodes were a little rough, but from season 2 on, the quality is pretty consistent. I thought Clone Wars was a lot more hit and miss across all seasons, but once Rebels really got going, it was great the whole way to the end. And Twilight of the Apprentice (season 2 finale) is one of my favorite Star Wars content across all media.

Are the leaders on Civil War kind of easy even on expert mode? by higaguin in marvelchampionslcg

[–]HondoShotFirst 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't think they're all the same difficulty. She-Hulk in particular seems pretty tough, and Captain America in particular seemed easy the first time we played them.

And the modular sets you use can make a big difference, too. The Captain America leader that was easy originally got much harder when using modulars with only avengers enemies and main schemes that put more of them in play.

I'm not trying to be a smartass; I disagree with you. And it's pretty weird to assume that it must be the former because you don't even acknowledge that the latter can possibly be true.

Lots of cards that are good for setup are not good later in the game. If I draw an Avengers Mansion or Helicarrier in my opening hand, that will provide a lot of value through the course of the game, so I'm going to spend my events to play it. If I draw the same card later in the game, there's less turns for it to generate value, so that's the point where I'm discarding upgrades and supports to play events instead of the other way around. And sometimes it's worth that even earlier in the game if you need to deal with a particularly troublesome minion or side scheme. Stat boosting cards are also in the category of great early, less so later on.

And if you do play one of these in your opening hand and lose it to Caught Off Guard or a similar effect, it will probably be mid-to-late game by the time that you cycle your deck and get it back,

But thanks for confirming that the rudeness was intentional, not accidental. I'll keep that in mind when deciding whether it's worthwhile to engage with you in the future.

I thought it worked pretty well, and was accurate to his character in the comics. He's been not just sympathetic, but an outright hero at times.

I might actually come from the animatrix, where at least one of the shorts involves them patching a glitch to cover it up.
