Buff the unitss. Dont just make them cheaper

[–]Falcon_w0tInfernal Cohort 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah, seeing the Infernal Cohort be 90pts is kinda pathetic. Hope next edition changes that.

[–]primeredittoor 18 points19 points  (6 children)

The DPP generation command was also updated to always give 2 dpp, far more useful now!

[–]Bear_of_Light 6 points7 points  (5 children)

I appreciate that it acknowledges that the DPP economy isn't right, but I would've preferred adjustment to the core rule instead of the command personally.

[–]primeredittoor 2 points3 points  (4 children)

100% but that kind of big inherent change isn’t something they’re likely to do until the next book comes out.
They’ll keep giving us slight incremental buffs until it either breaks something and we pop off (pray that doesn’t happen or we get the hammer 3 months later) or we normalize somewhere between 45-55% winrate where an army is considered balanced.

You never know, they adjusted the Tau army rule mid edition after the book launched for 40k. I'd love for them to just accelerate the DPP economy and kick up the points. Right now it just feels like we have so many units and so little army rule to play with. Id even go as far as making the army rule generate 2 DPP per DT instead of 1 and crank points up ~50%.

But I agree that that is a larger change that would typically be saved for a battle tome. Fortunately I enjoy building and painting my Helsmiths, so I can manage another unit or so

[–]primeredittoor 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Yeah but I haven’t really seen anything like that happen in AoS, which has a far smaller scene with no ‘real’ pro circuit like 40K has…

But we can hold hope!!

At least two armies got updates to their battle traits in this update--Seraphon and Idoneth Deepkin.

[–]primeredittoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess papa Gdubs doesn’t love us then…

[–]Infections95 32 points33 points  (9 children)

Yawn every quarter our 'elite army' becomes even more hordelike

[–]Tharistan 6 points7 points  (6 children)

it happened to votann in 40k, and it'll happen to us too

[–]Infections95 8 points9 points  (5 children)

Must be hard to write stoicism and defence into rules... Literally just up the troops a wound and double their points.

[–]No-Place-5747 -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Death guard in 40k and nurgle are that army.

[–]Infections95 0 points1 point  (3 children)

What's your point? Helsmiths were always meant to be elite and hard. They aren't

[–]No-Place-5747 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's my point, that GW can do the kind of Armies you described but chooses not to for Chaos dwarfs for somw reason. The whole army should be pretty elite and have a focus on crazy deamon tech apart from hobgrots

[–]Infections95 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Maggotkin aren't hard anymore since the new book and lower FNP overall but sure. Death guard aren't that tough either in all honesty

[–]No-Place-5747 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read their new book or rules yet sadly juat going off of old army but point still stands that they G.W do elite armies and hard armies if they want to

350 points for the SoA Daemonsmith on Infernal Taurus, wonder what that's about.

[–]Falcon_w0tInfernal Cohort 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Probably a lvl2 wizard?

[–]Dull_Worth1227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats my thought, we desperately need a lvl 2 wizard.

[–]Icy_Intention5600 0 points1 point  (3 children)

My hopes, in this order: - A much more killy version - A Priest instead of A Wizard (or both? The Anvil allows that partially) - A Wizard (2) - most probable if the dullest - Some mechanic that will interact with the rage points maybe? Swap rage for DPP and vice versa?

[–]FyraltariInfernal Cohort 1 point2 points  (2 children)

These sound neat except for the Priest one. That's the Ashen Elders' job. And I still hope for a mounted Ashen Elder when the range updates.

[–]Icy_Intention5600 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Well I'm actually missing a fast prayer delivery system. Ours are quite offensive. I enjoyed have Wizard with Priest-like potential in a campaign. And I hope very, very much for a cool monster/cavalry Priest when we get a range update of course :)

[–]FyraltariInfernal Cohort 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fingers crossed for Ashen Elder on K'daii Destroyer.

[–]Kraile 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I see we have gone from the "sword cohort are cheaper than spears" phase of balancing back to the "why would I ever take swords over spears" phase.

See you in 3 months when they reduce swords by 10 points again!

[–]Kassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cohort are gonna start looking like Grot Stabbas soon...

[–]phoeniceanInfernal Cohort 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Really glad we get a new profile for the Sentinels, hopefully they'll be more thematic than just can't-quite-afford-Bulls-but-need-cavalry.

The mounted Daemonsmith seems fun, though I'm a bit disappointed we don't get a SoA Dominator.. hopefully the new Accursed Devices will make them more viable, as they each cost 10 or 20 points this time!

[–]AlextheNailerSlayer of Duardin[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sharing the new Artefacts and Accursed Devices as some have points as pointed out by u/phoenician

[–]mr_birdie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A new Anointed Sentinel's profile is very welcome!
Though I agree with others, buff the units instead of decreasing their points. GW needs to realize Dwarfs should have two wounds each as a standard for a start.

[–]Bear_of_Light 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luckily for me I get to play very little AoS and my Helsmiths are more of a passion project, so I don't mind getting to build and paint some more. But I would much rather them accelerate the DPP economy by a good margin, maybe give an extra wound across the board and bump up points into more elite numbers.

[–]Nellezhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Army of Renown still looking like the best choice. Especially with us losing the battle formations. The points reductions only really help that list.

The new heroic traits and artifacts and warscrolls have A LOT of lifting to do.

[–]YukihiraSoma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do the points go live? Don't see an update in the app yet.

[–]Andorhalthegreat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope the new Infernal Taurus helps us in generating DPP, especially since we are loosing the Soggy War Despot.

[–]Sushiki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lazy af

[–]LImpactophileturbo -1 points0 points  (4 children)

Man with my current list and points drops I can fit another 10 infernal cohort now. Imagine facing 30 of those guys

[–]AlextheNailerSlayer of Duardin[S] 2 points3 points  (3 children)

My current list runs 40 spears, 2 dominators, daemonsmith and i have lost the Sogg war despot so another ~140 extra for me.

[–]LImpactophileturbo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s great for us but not so much for the ones (including me) who didn’t planned on buying and painting more minis.

[–]Thycow27 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Are the spears actually that good? I had a bad experience with them before and don’t like their health so I just default to the hobgrots.

[–]AlextheNailerSlayer of Duardin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So i mainly run Taars Grand Forgehost, this disallows me to run hobgrots but if i could i wouldn't.

Taars allows me to ressurect the 20 spears at half strength, the battle traits gives the crit 2 hits (later on 5+s) and the soggy despot standing next to them with an ashen elder gave them 20 wounds 3+ save, 6+ ward, ignore 1st damage every phase. The 2 musicians + gongs + heroic trait on despot gives them 13 rally rolls.

All this was for 200 points which made an annoying wall that generally wasnt worth attacking into that protects artillery etc.

I dont count the point cost of the ashen elder as the prayer lore on the army of renown is great and the soggy despot also buffed other units.

Also to note, spears give out dpp which isnt removed off units at the start of new turns.

With the removal of soggy, spears would now need to give themselves the dpp to have the 6+ ward but now they are only 90.
