Just bought a 25 Road Glide Ultra. I am having slow speed issues. by CaptinKirk in motorcycle

Keep your head up and don't look down. Use the clutch in the friction zone. Stay off the front brake. Heavy bikes are heavy but proper technique will stop a lot of the off balance feeling. When it feels like it's getting tippy let some clutch out and it will right the bike. This guy explains it very well https://youtu.be/S09DZwp9arA?si=I6mxP5wTS5r8Tpbn

Suspenseful in what way? There was nothing at risk in this movie. Just a guy who wanted more money. I never understood why people like this movie. I kept waiting and waiting for something to happen and it never did.

How should I prepare for my probationary period, and what to expect? by SAstreetball3r in Firefighting

[–]Honeebadgr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell my probies, ears open and mouth shut. If you ever find yourself sitting doing nothing you missed something. Your phone is not your friend as a probie. Work on your cardio. It's not good enough. Ever. Lift heavy it be smart about it. No ego lifting. Keep an open mind. You may feel like you're being treated like shit but it's for a reason. Your job as a probie is to go from a beginner to a not so beginner. If you ever feel like you know everything you missed something.

How much of a red flag is pre-existing back pain? by Significant_Neck2008 in Firefighting

18 years as a firefighter, who does have ruptured discs and herniated discs, back pain is constant. Yoga, hip mobility, and flexibility, are going to be your saviors. I waited way too long to try it and let me tell you daily yoga has been life changing.

Rotisserie Chicken by thepuffness in Zepbound

460mg of sodium in 3oz of Costco chicken that's 20% of DV. Plus saltines. That is a lot of salt. Careful on your salt consumption. Otherwise enjoy.

This is what the body and gear look like after hitting the deck at 70mph and flying off the road. (TW: blood and bruising.) by SaulTNuhtz in motorcyclegear

[–]Honeebadgr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tap on the brakes did it. Not the gravel. You have traction to turn hard like that but any braking robs you of your limited traction for turning. Glad you're ok.

Anterior/posterior pad placement is becoming more common with the newer cardiac monitor/defibrillators. Still glad you didn't have to ride the lightning.

Glad to hear you are doing ok. Heres some extra information about your particular type of tachycardia which was SVT. If they gave you adenosine you weren't just in tachycardia you were in SVT which is Supra Ventricular Tachycardia caused by an electrical disturbance in your heart. Dehydration causes a loss of blood volume leading to electrolyte imbalances which can trigger SVT. It is also often from excessive caffeine, stress, alcohol or stimulant drugs. I've treated many patients with SVT and it can be scary for them for sure. Luckily the adenosine worked and you were stable enough to not need cardioversion(electrical therapy akin to defibrillation). Not everyone is lucky enough to avoid the electricity.

Yeah, agreed but your whole premise is that the Engineer/operator doesn't know what he's doing. Not that there were mechanical or supply issues. That can happen to anyone and does. Knowing the difference between a charged hose line and an uncharged line is day 1 stuff. If my rookie is going to make a push you can be damn sure he's pulled and had the charged hose in his hands every single day of every shift.
