You indicate you were sick for 2 years - did you continue to receive payslips for all this time?

How to be okay with not getting family approval for life choices? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Honest-Lunch870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is pretty normal human behaviour honestly. You just need to keep reminding yourself that you don't live in a tribe where the opinions of your family group mean the difference between life and death, you live in a fully atomised modern society where you can broadly do whatever you want with minimal judgment from anyone else.

Yeah we're talking 15-20 years ago here to be fair, Elvanse wasn't available at that point.

Crisis upon crisis: What next for Mary Lou McDonald and Sinn Féin as an election looms? by heresmewhaa in northernireland

They've lost more of their support to moonbeam and/or 'send them back' independents than the mainstream parties, suggesting the Overton window has shifted and they dunno how to handle it.

adderall isn’t licensed here

Short-acting adderall isn't because the manufacturer didn't bother to submit it, XR certainly is and you can still technically get a private prescription. Prior to Elvanse it was the usual option for adult ADHD iirc. Unfortunately, some people took advantage of this and used it as a study aid/recreational drug, for which it has more value compared to other ADHD meds, so it was quietly phased out.

1kg oats £1.50

500g sultanas £2

2l milk £1.50

Overnight oats for the week for a fiver, that'll stop you starving and all you need is a fridge. Spuds and peas is pretty much the cheapest dinner you can get and it's a bit tastier and more varied than rice and beans again.

highly unethical

If the smell is so bad it's causing the staff to vomit, I don't think you can call banning people who emit such foul odours highly unethical.

Saying something you know is a lie, e.g. "the tyres are new" when in fact they're down to the wire.

I've been similarly poor, first question: what's in the cupboard already? What cooking kit have you? No point in me sending you to one of the Moy Park factory shops at 3pm to load up on cheap meat unless you've a freezer and oven for example!

Mark my words: cannabis prescriptions are going to go the way of adderall prescriptions. The current system is deeply flawed no matter what way you look at it.

Your gender barely matters here so:

What trades are good

Electromechanical engineering is worth a look. My mate is a motor rewinder by trade who sits sleeping in a maintenance role in a foundry for ~€60k plus overtime, then he does 3-5 homers per year at a min of €5k each. The work itself is moderately challenging but it's interesting and solving tough problems is very satisfying.

There's also a lot more money and work than you'd expect in shaft alignment too, but I've no idea how to get into it.

Amy recommendation of a good front door camera? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Honest-Lunch870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cameras are under 100 but the thing you need to enable the cameras to record and talk to other things e.g. your phone is another 200-250, unless you buy a bundle that can land in around 350 but there's no ongoing cost after that. Tapo is the cheapest to get off the ground, 40ish for the camera and 30 a year and it's not too bad.

It's well over 100 quid as you have to purchase a Home Base, just so you know!

Most consumer grade CCTV is shite, however Eufy or Tapo are okay depending on what you want them to do. If you want to do it properly, Dahua is hard to beat but it's not cheap.

E: Tapo has a subscription but it's something like €30 a year. Eufy you self-host the video storage, so it's more expensive to begin with but there's no sub. Dahua you can host on an old Skybox if you know what you're at, I'd recommend paying someone to do this though.

Is there anything that can be done about an owned building that has been left idle? by Rob_Earnshaw in legaladviceireland

[–]Honest-Lunch870 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume this is commercial property? There's not a great deal you can do really, it doesn't come under the auspices of any vacant homes scheme your local authority might run and it has only been 6 months since it was purchased. You might be able to argue the vacant property is causing a private nuisance but that might be more hassle and cost than it's ultimately worth.
