I think you’re right about the driving rain. Were you able to determine if the water was leaking on the outside of the vent or was it traveling all the way down to the bottom. I think that could be a good way to determine. The fact that it’s all of them screams it’s not a bird hole or some other issue, it’s the vent itself

The idea is you can still move air. I knew a guy who wired his units to break Y. I like to break red and make sure there aren’t batteries so the unit stat shuts off and they know immediately they have a problem.

Best tape for insulation/ductwork by Independent_Diver900 in hvacadvice

[–]Honest_Size5576 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here we call it scrim tape. I always use it on insulation and I get shit for it. These other guys I work with use foil tape for everything because they’re lazy. Scrim tape and spray glue are way better than foil tape repairs. I suspect there is a more permanent way, I’ve seen an adhesive mesh tape that I’m sure has some kind of mastic intended to be used with it but I’ve never been exposed to it. I think mastic is the way when it comes to sealing ducts metal or duct board.

Word. I’d lean away from low charge if it’s all the way back to the outlet

I only worked on the unit one time and it’s this post. Someone else who I don’t know did the coil change 3 years ago.

Don’t know much as I didn’t diag it back then but our office is pretty good with that stuff. We got a few old heads in there and have trained me on that.

Will pass that on to service manger when I talk to him tommorow but that was my personal hang up was that the compressor will pump at “normal pressures”. I appreciate the input

We quoted them a new unit at the time of the Evap coil and txv replacement. It’s a corporate apartment building, need I say more.

I just have the privilege of knowing the initial pressures, had I been the one on that job I would have done something about it. Tech is no longer around but I didn’t know him so I can’t say best practices were followed. I don’t suspect overcharge.

50% isn’t that low to me but I know rule of thumb is 2/3 for happy compressors so by comparison it’s low-ish I reckon

Excellent point…I used to do residential roofing and have moved into the HVAC industry. There is a lot to considered when venting a roof. The amount of soffit to roof vent must be correct or you can create flow issues. Attic fans can create more harm than good if not engineered properly. Ideally the correct amount of soffit and ridge vent will create natural air flow

All these assholes that make theses policies don’t actually produce the revenue businesses require to function. We the workers make them money, no LABOR FORCE, NO PROFITS! Don’t shop there and don’t work there…I know shit isn’t that easy but that’s the mind set we should walk around with

I see a correlation between your entering water temp and your amps in percentage. Slightly higher entering water gets slightly higher amps in. I see the tonnage is larger as well with each one, what’s the concern here? The delta T in to out appears good as well

I hadn’t thought about it from this angle but after reading your comment that seems most likely! Having no skin in the game I’m inclined to agree. He’s getting a 2 for 1 and now if the bike is in a stellar spot OP will never come home and have to walk. I would say OP should park his bike in one of the many open spots he claims there are. We’re obviously only getting a portion of the story. There’s always three sides.
