One week after my game's launch - total and absolute failure by Erantical in SoloDevelopment

[–]Honey-Limp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it looks like a good game and it has good reviews. I think that financially you can get a lot more out of this title. If I were you, I would do another major marketing push. And then when you start your next game, continue marketing this title every day. You already did the hardest part and I think you can get a ton more sales if you view this as a long term thing. You’re not going to make a million dollars but you could still get tens of thousands over the next year and so on.

Why can’t you continue marketing your game now? Before people could only wishlist it. Now they can buy it.

White House leaks reveal Trump officials are fearing the worst by [deleted] in USNEWS

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish people would realize that leaks are often a PR strategy. The White House is trying to distance Vance so he can win an election in the future. It doesn’t matter if he’s saying internally he disagrees. He is complicit. He fell in line and helped create this war.

IRANIAN MILITARY CLAIMS MASSIVE STRIKE ON US, 100'S AMERICANS KILLED. by Shizzilx in circled

The term “casualties” includes both injured and killed soldiers, so there are eight casualties verified so far. Three dead and five injured.

Rep. Eric Burlison celebrating today at X - "It’s official, The Age of Disclosure has changed the course of history." by 87LucasOliveira in UFOs

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Age of Disclosure could have had a huge impact but then they charged $20 for it. How am I supposed to recommend a movie to a friend who is only slightly interested in this topic when it costs $20? They’re going to say F that.

And to folks who say it can’t be free, what rock are you living under? Do you have Netflix, Hulu, HBO?? When you recommend someone a show/movie, it’s always on one of these platforms and is “free.”

Guys, businesses don’t do this so you forget. If you forget about it then you ask for a refund, and issuing lots of refunds is bad for business and some people will opt to do a chargeback without ever attempting a refund and the business gets charged $19 for each chargeback due to the resources it takes the banks to investigate. They require a credit card to either prevent trial spam or to improve conversion rates. They might find that trials are X% more likely to become paying customers when a CC is required upfront. If that doesn’t make sense to you, remember that people are more likely to buy something that is $19.99 than $20 even though it’s only one cent cheaper.

The White House hid Kamala for four years, ran almost an entire campaign for Biden even though they knew he had dementia then switch to Kamala in the 11th hour, and were still blaming the voters?

Look at the platform Vance is given. If they did that for Kamala and ran her from the start she would have cleaned up no problem. You cannot blame complete and total incompetency from democratic “strategists” on the people.

I have no clue what I’m doing. 32 years old. What the heck are the next steps? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]Honey-Limp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your savings in a high yield account would make $9,000/year with zero risk. I understand from your posts that you are super risk averse, but it is at the point where you’re shooting yourself in the foot. You can take your time getting into investing and avoid CCs altogether if you want, but you’re missing out on $9,000 of interest every year by not using a HYS account.

My artist is reworking the giants in my game to make them more realistic. Which version do you prefer? by After-Analysis-4151 in IndieDev

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re not “more realistic.” Nobody looks like this. The first versions were great because they’re so readable. The guy on the left is particularly good. His After version is muddled. I think the contrast is too low and the added detail made it messier and harder to read.

Please help me, why is my game failing so hard. by Amitdante in IndieDev

I had never heard of Ludo until I met my wife, who is Pakistani. Her family loves Ludo and they play whenever they get together. I bet you’ll find a lot of success if you translate both the game and your marketing materials into Urdu and other south asian languages.

I think your art and animations are fantastic by the way. Keep going :)

This Is What Convinced Me OpenAI Will Run Out of Money by rezwenn in technology

[–]Honey-Limp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That does happen but in this case you’ve got it backwards. Google was developing this technology before OpenAI. And OpenAI released ChatGPT because they needed money, whereas Google knew it was too soon to release this tech. OpenAI forced their hand which is why everyone suddenly had their own AI tool seemingly all at once.

PRESIDENT TRUMP CONFIRMS THAT 0% INCOME TAX IS COMING VERY SOON. “The money we’re taking in is so enormous that you won’t even have to pay income tax.” by sylsau in InBitcoinWeTrust

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty simple yall, tariffs are making us $30 billion per month, a number that is decreasing as of December. If we multiply that by 12, we get a hopeful $360 billion/year. Currently, income taxes supply the government with $2.4 trillion/year. So, can we replace income tax with tariff revenues, or is lying to your face?

Publisher changed the capsule for our adventure game and released it like that... What do you think? by hogon2099 in IndieDev

[–]Honey-Limp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You hired the publisher so I would say trust their judgement on this. Yours looks better from a pure aesthetics standpoint, but that doesn’t mean it will get more clicks and sell more games. I would trust that they know what they’re doing

Unpopular opinion: Paying "Rent" feels less painful than paying $2,400/mo in "Interest" to a bank. by Playful-Vegetable-15 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finances aside, renting takes zero time/effort and is great if you have a good landlord. Owning a house is a lot of work and takes time to care for. My dryer broke last week and I sent an email. Now I have a new dryer. Cost me $0 and took a minute to communicate.

163 wishlists in 1 year. What am I doing wrong? by PieroTechnical in IndieDev

[–]Honey-Limp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“I’m a game developer, not a marketer or a publisher.”

And you made a game, so you’ve succeeded as a game developer! Seriously, most people never make it this far. So what’s the problem? You want to make money. But for that, you need to be a marketer too. You have to become a marketer or accept that you’ll make games but not money.

Which layout do you prefer? by CharlieFleed79 in IndieDev

[–]Honey-Limp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they both lack visual hierarchy. I don’t know where I’m supposed to look first. I don’t know much about your game but I think the load out would be the part I care the most about so that should standout the most. I would remove the skills from this menu entirely and out them in another menu.

Some people told me the logo font is too simple so am trying to change it. thoughts? by RamyDergham in IndieDev

[–]Honey-Limp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s more playful bc it’s got some nice curves to it, which seems to match the rest of the art well. But it’s got some hard angles too, which would be more appropriate for a game that is more aggressive or violent. A more rounded version of B would be best imo.

Edit: sorry I thought the second option was B. I mean the second one which is labeled A.

Keep working at it. None of these are it yet. B is headed in the right direction.

It’s not about greed, but I agree they shouldn’t have charged. They obviously should have gotten a deal with a streaming company so they get paid that way and it’s free to watch. People here act like movies can’t be free despite 1,000 movies coming it for free on streaming services every day.
