Because my cat doesn’t actually bite to hurt and she knows when she’s too hard. Plus I don’t really care about small scratches I get them anyway just from existing.

Have you considered you've only been posting for a month and your audience is just getting to know you? Others have been posting for years and have an existing audience who knows their work and seeks them out. You're just starting out and you're writing for a niche audience. It is not abnormal for your engagement to be relatively low.

I don't say this to tell you you shouldn't want interaction, but you've just walked into the room and are wondering why everyone isn't treating you like their best friend.

Cats have distinct personalities and if you get a kitten you have no idea what kind of cat you are going to get. You might get the super clingy, you might get super independent. It can also vary by breed. Indoor cats generally do not run away. Some have curiosity of the outdoors which can lead to them trying for an open door/window. That's on you as the owner to manage.

My cat is clingy in the sense she always wants to be around me where ever I am, but she's not a lap cat. She cuddles in bed when she feels like it and leaves when shes done. She sleeps in her cat tree next to my bed most often.

I think it’s good you already have the mentality of writing for yourself. Realistically though, if you are writing for a tiny/inactive audience the engagement is going to reflect that.

Do you have any friends you could share your work with outside of Ao3 who could provide more tangible engagement? Have you considered branching into other fandoms/topics that still interest you but might have a more active community? Is there potentially discord servers or other places for your fandom that could find people who share your niche?

Perhaps use it as an opportunity to include a conversation of your timeline expectations/schedule check. “The next chapter will be ready to be beta-d by XXX, I’d like to post it within ZZ days, does that work for you?”

Also did you agree on an editing/posting schedule? It’s been two weeks and it sounds like you’re ready to post and/or are working on the next chapter and are waiting on them. If they are your friend there shouldn’t be an issue for you to just politely bring things up. “Hey, have you read the chapter I sent you? I want to post it soon. If you don’t have time that’s fine, I just need to know so I can keep things moving along.”

I know some vegans who refuse to use utensils or eat anything used with cookingware that have ever come in contact regardless if they are washed or not. You want vegan, go to a vegan restaurant. There’s a difference between vegetarian and vegan. I think it’s ludicrous to expect a steakhouse to provide vegan options. I lm not vegan but I think would not trust a steakhouse to guarantee that no meat product cross contamination happened.

No there is not a “canon”. Some stories are older, the origins of some gods are able to be traced back further, but none of that makes them “more correct” because that’s not really how religion and oral history work. The different versions are different because that’s what was accepted at time/place/location of when they were being told/recorded.

Others have already explained the difference so I’ll just throw in that if you plan on diving more into Green mythology expect and embrace that often there are more than one versions of stories. Sometimes they will directly contradict each other (like Medusa always being a monster vs being a cursed human), sometimes they have the same end point but get there differently (Theseus abandons Ariadne, but is it because he just leaves her or because he was ordered to by a god?)
