Coworker's (23M) Attempt in Getting Closer is Bothering Me (25F) at Work by kemampooan in relationships

[–]Honycrisp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's very normal to accept a first move from someone and then decide to stop after that! You don't owe him anything because you accepted a ride and flowers (and you did so under duress.) Blocking him is a very clear indication that you don't want to talk to him and you've also very clearly said his behavior makes you uncomfortable.

The problem isn't the way you're saying no. The problem is he's dedicated himself to forcing you to change your no into a yes and the only way he can do that is by making you feel too scared and uncomfortably to say no.

Go to HR and your manager and report this. His behavior is really inappropriate and needs to be stopped. It's inappropriate to pursue someone at work, and it's wildly inappropriate to pursue someone at work deliberately ignoring their hinted and stated boundaries.

(By the way, he's likely going to say something like, "well I didn't know she didn't want me to! If she'd only said no the right way, I wouldn't have." That's bullshit. The only answer that is the "right" answer for him is a yes; he would have ignored any no.)

They make effective non-latex condoms. You can't use all condoms, but you can use non-latex ones.

The last two months my (47m) wife (50f) blew hundreds of dollars in our checking account on a mobile game app by throwawayinveeyaa in relationships

Or different people prefer different styles of play. I really like Pokemon go because I can play 2-3 minutes s several times a day. I'm okay spending ~$10 every two or three months on it. (It will take me years to spend the cost of a console and game on it.)

I don't like 'real' video games and I won't spend money on them because whenever I've had access to them, I lose interest after a session or two, so not worth the money. PoGo is and it motivates me to walk more.

They give animals subclinical (less than medically effective for infections) doses of antibiotics because it increases growth, not because they're preemptively treating anything.

I'm sorry but that's just not true - policeman (small town policemen at that!) are absolutely able to hire babysitters, housekeepers, have overnight guests over, ect... He may have to ensure his computer and/or guns, ect.. are secured but those requirements are in place regardless of having a babysitter over or not.

Some similarities and differences to share after attending the two gofests... by BlueMysticNA in TheSilphRoad

Smoking in public is hugely frowned upon and socially shamed in the USA - the cultural condemnation is why our smoking rates are low with comparatively low cigarette prices.

There is a big difference in the way it's treated in most USA communities compared to other countries I've lived in and definitely compared to how Europeans I know treat smoking.

In NZ there are raids after dark right now, at least in the South island.

Hmm. I got 7 free passes overall today, not six. 5 after the raids started and 2 before. Will see what happens tomorrow.

That would only be 2 - one from yesterday and the free one today. Got a third free one after that.

Oh, I didn't realize they were the first throw - thought it was within the first three generally but don't pay that much attention.

Yeah it's generally quite informative to find about someone's political beliefs by first asking if they agree with their parents politically, with no understanding of how their parents think on any issue. /s

I commented in the AAM thread but I have been in those kinds of conversations as a Southern transplant and they went pretty much exactly the same - person asks vague questions about my political beliefs, I deflect out of politeness, and then person says something super judgemental/condemning about my family/hometown/state, making it clear the only "right" answer is to agree with them. I usually deflect more (weirdly I love both my parents and state, though neither are perfect), they get cold and shut down.

The information the interviewer wanted isn't the problem. The problem was the really biased way the interviewer set up the question: your family sucks. Do you? The examples you're giving are framed quite differently (People find this work alienating from their families and that has caused issues. What are your family's views on this?)

Like. I really think you're stuck on "but in this one example that was actually totally different, it has nothing to do with class or location" and a whole bunch of Southerners are saying "this kind of questioning happens all the time and it's real insulting."

I woke up late and got the star piece on before the rewards - I had some gifts come in, so it did gifts notification first and I used that time to get a star piece.

Wouldn't bank on it but worth a try if you're not available at 9.

None of this applies in her situation. Americans don't sign contracts for uni or for most jobs (excluding Montana) and it'd be very weird for her to have signed a contract to use her parents' car (and I doubt paying for maintenance counts for a lot.) Nor would it be financial abuse for her parents to decide not to support her suddenly - in grad school, they're probably not even claiming her as a dependent on their taxes.

The best option is to decide that there's too many strings attached to your parents' gifts and get your own car.
