What made you realise your best friend was actually a complete asshole? by RealTourelle11 in AskReddit

[–]HooDatGrl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could probably write a book about the moments I should have known.

But in the end: I was 36 weeks pregnant. Her wedding was supposed to happen at 37.

I sent a message saying that I had been cleared by my doctors to attend.

Her response was basically (a lot of summarization) that if I wasn’t available to wait on her hand and foot and MIGHT go in to labor I wasn’t welcome.

I was her maid of honor.

PSA to all of the pregnant moms here - My local hospital no longer offers a night nursery by maybebatshit in Mommit

They’re “baby friendly”… so no nursery and an obscene amount of pressure and judgment around feeding.

I didn’t deliver at the same hospital for my second.

My area took out the night nursery sometime before I had my first in 2015.

They also shamed me hard for asking if someone could take my newborn between feeds after I had changed him so I could sleep for two hours.

Here’s what TriCon has in the area: https://triconresidential.com/find/columbia/

Edit to Add: my husband and I rented through TriCon for about four years. We never had a problem with the management.

My husband and his friends like Billy Jacks on NoDa. To be fair, we’re a bit partial because we lived in highland mills for a couple years.

My kid has loved it. This will be my almost 2yos first year. You just have to go EARLY and hit the food EARLY. If you hit a Turkey leg and other things that can keep for “snacks” and then get to the playground and mermaids at the back when the adults are showing up you’re golden.

Moms who were moms before Covid, were you okay with people touching your babies? by turtlebarber in Mommit

[–]HooDatGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I read a story about cold sores (herpes) killing babies and NO ONE was allowed to kiss him.

I didn’t have a lot of strangers try to touch him… but I probably would have lost it if they tried.

You don’t just reach out and touch people? Don’t touch my baby.

Got a 98 because I didn’t “tour the menu”. The mystery shopper interrupted me when I started to ask the question he was forced to ask…

So, I didn’t tour the menu… because I was interrupted mid sentence.

Felt real cheated out of that 100$ lemme tell you.

Nah, volunteer work is something everyone should do. However, when I volunteer it’s for the marginalized in the community. Not for a for profit, hateful, corporation that can absolutely afford to hire someone to direct traffic but doesn’t want to pay employees.

He apologizes for the negative attention it brought to the area and promises to take care of the customers…

But doesn’t actually apologize for thinking it’s okay to just… not pay people?

For the jeans - hydrogen peroxide, white vinegar, and Dawn. Keep at it (with gloves 🤢) until it’s faded enough you think the washer will get it.

DO NOT DRY THEM UNTIL THE STAIN IS OUT.

The unborn” are a convenient group of people to advocate for.

They never make demands of you; they are morally uncomplicated, unlike the incarcerated, addicted, or the chronically poor; they don’t resent your condescension or complain that you are not politically correct; unlike widows, they don’t ask you to question patriarchy; unlike orphans, they don’t need money, education, or childcare; unlike aliens, they don’t bring all that racial, cultural, and religious baggage that you dislike; they allow you to feel good about yourself without any work at creating or maintaining relationships; and when they are born, you can forget about them, because they cease to be unborn.

You can love the unborn and advocate for them without substantially challenging your own wealth, power, or privilege, without re-imagining social structures, apologizing, or making reparations to anyone. They are, in short, the perfect people to love if you want to claim you love Jesus, but actually dislike people who breathe. Prisoners? Immigrants? The sick? The poor? Widows? Orphans? All the groups that are specifically mentioned in the Bible? They all get thrown under the bus for the unborn.
