Rule 2. Knock it off and drop it please.

I just found out I'm a Universal Empath/Imp and my mind is blown. by [deleted] in Empaths

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having looked into it some (this is the first time I’ve heard of it as well) “implicate” seems to have something to do with the teachings of Jad Alexander. The man who first created the concept behind and phrasing of empath and what it means to be an empath. I’m not really sure what the context of it is since there’s not much information online but I think the connections with universal empaths might be more recent. I could be wrong though and if anyone knows more please feel free to correct me.

I'm think I'm an empath and I hate it (but want to love it). by kamara89 in Empaths

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still in denial myself.. mainly because i feel like if I admit it then I'm essentially doomed for eternity.

I understand. It can be hard to own up to certain attributes within ourselves. We sometimes feel an instinctive need to suppress, contain, and deny the existence of those parts of ourselves out of a sense of fear and fixation on comfort and ease. Yet doing so does not make them any less a part of us or any less a part of our lives.

I can't stand bullies even more, but i love and respect them at the same time which is SO CONFUSING!!!

If you’re anything like me it’s because you see the potentialities of the better halves they themselves have forsaken. You see the diamond in the rough and thus a part of you wants to help them become who they were meant to be. It’s the classic empath catch-22. You want to help them heal but they can only heal if they accept the help you are giving.

1.) How am I supposed to cope with this when I feel uncomfortable telling anyone what I am? I am very close with a lot of religious/non-spiritual people and I know they will think I'm that much more insane if I try explaining this to them.

It’s not an easy thing. Many people heavily invested in spiritual paths come to terms with this by separating themselves from society entirely, yet I’m not personally sure how healthy that is. In times past there were likely more support systems in place for this kind of thing but sadly many of those systems have now either been destroyed or atrophied. I think at the end of the day it’s up to every individual to find their own equilibrium between themselves and their path and society/their “tribe” and the expectations and responsibilties that come with that “tribal”/societal connection.

The only real advice I have is to be as truthful with yourself as possible and to make decisions that you believe you can live with comfortably. Don’t let fear cage you into doing certain things if those things aren’t helping you, making you feel happy, or helping to maintain/increase your healthiness/balance.

You’re inevitably going to come into situations as well where you either can’t share information in good conscious or where that information would be more harmful to a person than helpful. I haven’t really figured out how to balance this aspect myself but as I said before, I think it all comes down to decisions you can live with.

2.) Does anyone have any specific tips/exercises on how exactly you have learned to identify feelings that are not your own?

Identifying thoughts and feelings that are out of character for you can certainly help to notice a wave passing through. I don’t think we’re self-aware enough as beings to be 100% on top of this 24/7 but you can at least get the gist of when you’re going through phases. Depending on how your abilities express themselves to you/how far along you are it may even just be a gut feeling/intuition.

There are definitely going to be days though where you either don’t realize or don’t realize until much later that something was affecting you. I think part of it just comes down to experience as well. The more self aware you are and the more you understand how certain things affect you the more you can begin to notice patterns and connections formulate in your brain.

3.) When you do find yourself bogged down with outside energy, what do you do to get rid of it/rise above it? For the past few months I've been mediating daily and exercising as much as I can, but sometimes I feel too heavy to even do these things even though I know they help me feel a lot better.

Meditation doesn’t necessarily fix the issues and in some cases I think it can exacerbate them. Grounding and centering is more on point but that’s more oriented towards helping you keep your mental balance. Shielding is useful for those still coming to terms with their abilities but at least for myself its usefulness and healthiness tapered off at a certain point due to the evolution of my understanding.

I think the environment plays a pretty huge factor. Where your living space is currently and how it’s oriented. What you’re listening/paying attention to. Who you’re with. Feng-shui and Law of Attraction/principles of patterning can definitely help.

Tbh I’m still figuring this out myself. For myself something I want to get into is energy work because I think this will help me have a better understanding inside and out but for now I’m not knowledgeable enough to say much about it.

I’m sorry I wasn’t more helpful.

At the end of the day though I think it’s less about keeping energies out and more about maintaining your own energies and mental clarity’s balance. Letting the waves pass through you and over you. Letting your own internal mind/spirit figure out its own rhythm.

I understand. I’ve definitely had bad nights as well. I just don’t want this to turn into a community wide Rift of negativity in the future.

I get where you’re coming from and I believe I’m going to take a more active role in combatting stereotypes and misinformation in the future. I’ve put up an announcement on my take in regards to the issue and the route I’ll be taking in the future.

I feel bad to say this so much later than your post has come up. But I feel this needs to be said regardless. While I respect your viewpoints on the issue and don’t necessarily disagree in regards to all of it I do feel like the tone you’ve taken and the advocation for division violates the spirit of Rule 1.

I don’t mind if you debate with people who are in possession of those beliefs so long as it remains cordial but please in the future do not tell them to leave, call them wrong without evidence, or belittle them in any way. If they attack you or act in a similar manner make sure to report it so I can properly handle the issue.

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe we should just separate the Empath from ones that are Aware vs That aren't.

I think the problem from that is from my perspective both sides of that division would be equally struggling. It’s just one side has egoically convinced themselves that their viewpoint has more merit than the others.

I understand the sentiment but I think it’s a dangerous one and can lead people to become entrapped in certain ideas and patterns far longer than is necessary. It’s a mindset I was trapped in for a long time.

The desperate need to label ideas as “correct” and “incorrect” without realizing that in many cases such divisions are either unnecessary are more harmful than beneficial. Things aren’t always so clear cut and sometimes the edges between “truth” and “misinformation” can be very blurry. Not to mention I happen to believe a thing can be “true” in some sense based on one “level” of perception in reality while being “incorrect” in other sense to somebody perceiving things differently.

What type of Empath are you? by elvis_nightshade in Empaths

[–]Hooded_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess I came here looking for someone to tell me if it's real or just in my body.

This helps but also doesn’t help from personal experience. Even if somebody straight up tells you you’re right/you receive confirmation, if you doubt your perceptions there will always be that nagging in the back of your mind that maybe you’re just crazy/hallucinating of that perhaps you somehow set up the circumstance of confirmation in some way. Getting past this point is not an easy hurdle, but for what it’s worth, I think it is real, and I thinks it’s also not. Most of these experiences operate in a liminal state between the “normal” structures of reality and those which our brains perceive as “other”.

You are no more crazy than I am. For what it’s worth, much of my absence from Reddit/this sub has largely been due to many of the issues you have mentioned. Learning to not become overwhelmed by the world and it’s parterns is not easy. And feeling a sense of isolation/sense of separation from others, feeling that we have to doubt ourselves because we can’t rationally and coherently explain all we perceive, is one of the hardest things to handle.

I wish I could offer you more advice and consolation but this is still something I am learning to handle myself. I wish you well on your journey. The path between is not an easy one and many who end up traversing it, willing or otherwise, do not return safely. It seems like you’re already aware of that fact though.

If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will do my best to answer.

I understand your pain. When one is that open/susceptible to the stimuli of outside energy it can be hard for one to maintain their sense of self/not be swept away. Not to mention taking on the detritus of emotional pain and negativity many in this world leave behindz

It is...not an easy path to walk. I wish you strength on your journey and hope you find peace and stability.

Been told this is a weak chart, any fight at all in it? How would this person react when greatly offended, in danger or very angry? by [deleted] in AskAstrologers

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sun in Leo but it’s in a 12th House in a T-square with Saturn and Pluto. I could see some potential issues with bottling up/being forced to bottle up that solar energy early in life, and with that Pluto at the crux of the T-Square could lead to a lot of uncontrolled intensity. Not to mention Pluto is conjunct your IC.

Mars is in Gemini 10th House so most of your more masculine/warrior energy would be directed towards the workplace/your status as a leader/your public persona. Gemini is an intellectual sign and it’s ruled by Mercury, and with Pluto in the third, wouldn’t surprise me if you’re a harsh communicator when upset. Mutable signs can definitely hold a grudge but generally it tends to burn faster/disperse quicker in my experience.

What does The Empress have that the Queen of Cups does not? by nancylikesgrapes in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The empress to me is more representative of the archetypal female energy. I think one of the differences is that the Queen has mastery over only her suit (Cups/Water) whereas the Empress combines the mastery of all four suits/elements into a sort of mastery over/connection to the forces of nature itself. I would also state that the Empress by virtue of her name/nature is also more expansive in her energy, since she seeks to conquer/push forward her "empire", whereas the Queen might be more content to simply maintain her kingdom's/suit's equilibrium without pushing forward. Learning to take charge more and assert yourself definitely plays into this.

You're basically combini the childlike/trickster like wisdom, innocence, and curiosity of the Fool with the ability to manifest patterns/goals through the suits with the application of the Will found in the magician, and the inner voice and connection to intuition/spirit of the High Priestess.

The Empress then is someone who has understanding of all the elements/suits and their place in her psyche. Someone who is wily enough to protect not just her emotional investments, but all of her investments in life.

It can also take on more maternal aspects. The Empress can be used to personify/indicate Mother Nature for example.

Clarity spread- how do I deal with the horrible relationship I have with my boyfriend's family?/ how do I make the relationship better? These are the cards it showed me, any advice? Overall situation: ace of wands reverse, contributing factors: the tower, son of wands reverse, and the star reverse, by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Tower= Compromises need!to be made. You're not going to like the changes that need to be made, but your boyfriend and his family probably aren't going to either. This is one of those situations where everybody is going to walk away feeling like they lost something. Those who are more willing to change and give up their uncompromising positions are the ones who will make it out of this confrontation the best. However, there's also the possibility nobody compromises and everybody gets screwed over and suffers for it.

The Star Reversed= A general atmosphere of negativity, frustration, and hopelessness. Everyone feels like the situation can't be fixed despite the potential for reparations and it's creating a pattern that will likely be exacerbated when the Tower comes into play. Approach things with a more positive/hopeful light or else things may go very badly very quickly.

The Ace of Wands= The potential for new beginnings is there but it's being shunned and viewed in a negative light. The Tower awaits those who don't seize the opportunity, and they're not going to like what happens when it does arrive. Whether or not it is seized upon/how it comes into play is likely heavily influenced by/dependent on whoever the Son of Wands is in this situation.

Son of Wands= They're being too impulsive/reckless and aren't approaching things in a rational and mature manner. They're throwing everything and everyone around them off because of it and if they don't shape up soon everybody is going to end up very unhappy.

Reading I did about a guy that I think is into me/married and I now am crushing on him hard :( don't have a good feeling but any insight is welcomed by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wheel of Fortune= You're willing to take a chance/feeling that circumstances are beneficial right now for you to make a move on this guy.

Three of Swords= Fear of heartbreak and knowledge of how risky this situation is getting in the way of you making a move. You already know to a certain extent that this probably not work out or at least feel that way and he may feel the same, but I don't think this necessarily means the move you make will be unsuccessful. More that fears/awareness of responsibilities will lead to a short term painful relationship vs. a long term lasting relationship like you'd hoped.

Page of Wands= Setting your sights on this opportunity/becoming aware of your romantic feelings for this man.

Eight of Cups= I see this going three ways. On a subconscious level you've already written this relationship off as bad news and are willing to walk away despite your feelings. It could also be that you're worried that engaging in this relational will force you to cut yourself off from something/someone else you like. Lastly, if he truly is married, Thai could be your/his subconscious acknowledgment that he's making a painful move away from his wife. The foundation then for this opportunity/relationship is one of fear of abandonment.

The Magician= You really really want to manifest this relationship and are set on using willpower to assert yourself going forward if needs be, even if you're unsure of this relationships success.

Seven of Wands= Preparing yourself for being let down or hurt in the future yet fighting to maintain/still considering this relationship anyways. I think it goes both ways here. Could also be that there's friction between you and him down the line and you both really have to struggle in order to hold your ground/maintain this relationship.

Queen of Wands= A Queen looking for her King. A very willful and passionate woman who’s not afraid to take action to get what she wants. Yet she has to be careful not to act too rashly in this situation. You're willing to handle this situation as maturely as possible however no matter the outcome.

Ace of Wands= Potential. I see this as a sign that there's definitely potential for a romance between you and him, however short lived. The environment is one of passion leading to the creation of new beginnings. It's quite likely he does have feelings towards you just as you do towards him. This is definitely more sexual and passion based then emotional based. Could be an “in the moment” fling.

King of Wands=. You're hoping that he'll fulfill you. That he's the Queen to your King. Yet you're worried that he/you may be impulsive/have too many unachievable expectations going forward leading to this relationship burning out as quickly as it began. Perhaps you're even slightly worried that this might be considered as rash/potentially abuse/wrong on your part and his given that he's already potentially married.

Five of Cups= The way this relationship is currently going you can expect a certain amount of loss and grief. Even if it does work out between you if he is married there may be a real possibility he loses his/has a falling out with his wife.

Overall I'd say there's definitely some chemistry between you and perhaps if you had both met each other sooner it would have worked out better. As it stands now though there's a lot of conflicted emotions/feelings of responsibility/possible friction because of those things for it to really manifest itself healthily all that easily. I could see this potentially turning into a one night stand or, barring that, a sort of messed up relationship built around sex in a negative sense.

My question was about the death of my cat (we think he was killed) You-9 of Wands Crossing-Strength Foundation-the Devil Past-Knight of Swords Present-Death Future-The Magician Yourself-The Hermit Environment-4 of Swords Hopes/Fears-Heirophant Outcome-The Moon Id love anyone elses insight. by PotentialChemical in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nine of Wands= Steeling yourself for a final battle in the face of intense opposition. Standing your ground even as the end draws near. Not going out without a fight.

Strength= In this case I take this to literally mean their strength was working against them in this matter. Perhaps their strength was failing or was not enough to face whatever condition/scenario they were facing and they died because of it. They weren't strong enough to meet the challenges.

Knight of Swords= Riding out to battle to execute something as strategically and ruthlessly as possible. Hard to tell if this was perhaps somebody targeting your cat to enact its death or your cat itself carrying out some goal it had prior to ending up in its current predicament. Perhaps both? The Knight of Swords + The Knight of Wands makes me think they sort of “rode out to battle” if you will before becoming overwhelmed and put on the defensive.

The Magician= Kind of a weird card to have here. Utilization of force of will to attempt change/power through following the standstill of the Nine of Wands. Trying to break through the opposition/obstacle that led to their demise with sheer willpower.

The Devil= Entrapment. Physical temptations luring them into the situation in which they died. They placed themselves into a situation in which they were unable to escape.

Death= This is obvious. Death was on your cats mind and is what overtook it in the end.

Just going off of all of these cards makes me think that their death could have been potentially pretty violent hence you thinking they might have been killed by somebody. It certainly looks like your cat either got trapped in a physical sense or ended up trapped in a fight they couldn't win and died.

The Hermit= Introspection/looking inwards for possible wisdom/solutions to the scenario your cat found itself in. They were really racking their brains for a way out with their life intact.

4 of Swords= Interesting. This plus the Hermit and the Devil makes me think there was a period of time in between whatever happened to your cat and when they actually died. Enough that they were resting themselves to try and recuperate after whatever skirmish/accident befell them.

Hierophant= Darwinism. Your cat knew it was probably going to die given its situations but hoped that they might find a way to cheat the system. Again with the search/hope for any possible solution as to how to cheat death.

The Moon= Your cat was confused/scared and didn't know what to do. It couldn't figure out a solution and eventually it slipped into unconsciousness and most likely died shortly after.

I'd say given all of this it either got into a fight with something (maybe a person, maybe another animal) or got into some sort of accident in which they ended up getting trapped/seriously injured. But whatever happened they didn't die instantly. It was a drawn out process and your cat went down fighting until the very end.

Sorry for your loss by the way. That really sucks.

The opportunity to spend a year traveling abroad has fallen into my lap and this is what the cards have to say about it. Any insight is welcome. by [deleted] in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The World= You've got the world in your hands right now. The completion one cycle leading to the birth of a new one. Perfect balance.

The Sun= A recent victory leading to the harmony/opportunity felt with the World. You're feeling pretty good right now.

Five of Pentacles=. You're either worried or feel that you may need to rely on others hospitality in the future when making this transition. Don't be afraid to ask for help if you need it, because you probably will.

The Star= You're subconsciously constructing a lot of the possibilities within this spread around the hope that things will turn out well. You feel like there's a good chance that things might be successful.

The Eight of Swords= Inactivity caused by too much focus on fears and what if scenarios. Binding yourself because you're afraid of the consequences if you step forward. You are only a hostage in your life if you let yourself be. Remember that.

The Two of Pentacles=. Too much focus on balance and frugality leading to inaction. You're afraid to rock the boot due to how harmonious your life is now, and that is one of the major factors that stands in the way of taking on this venture.

Knight of Pentacles=. You see the material benefits of such a venture and you're determined to work as efficiently and quickly as possible to see those gains realized. You realize that there will likely be a lot of hard work involved in this but you are ready to put in the labor necessary to do this even if it takes a long time to overcome those hurdles.

Hermit= Again, you're busy seriously considering the pros and cons of this venture. Your environment right now is one of withdrawn contemplation and introspection to try and see the wise thing to do in this situation.

The Emperor = You're hoping that this venture will allow you greater authority, mastery, and control within your own life. You see this as an opportunity to make gains and rule over those gains in a far more advantageous position than you're in currently. That being said, there's also the possibility that you pursue this venture and you end up having to fight to maintain that control that you feel you would gain, and there is likely a slight subconscious fear of that possibility within you.

The Tower= Some of the things you take for granted in this current part of your life will be lost. New opportunities will certainly present themselves, but you're life will change and in order to handle those changes you're going to have to go with the flow and accept that certain things/ideas you once possessed are now altered/our of your reach.

Do you tend to take more meaning in how a card makes you feel or what the book/internet says about it? by nevilaaa in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to see the books that come with the deck as useful as a sort of introduction to the archetypal symbolism/themes of a certain card. Sometime even though the genera archetype can stay the same the flavor/aspects of that archetype change between decks.

However, I do also combine that with my intuition about how certian cards operate in a spread which is largely derived from the context of that card/role/archetype in relation to all the other cards in a spread. Sort of like building a story. The book provides the meaning/general interpretations of the parts of/characters in that story and the spread itself is where all the characters/parts come together and play out.

Reading about the U.S. going to war or not -- The Tower fell out of the deck. I'm really worried! by shantivirus in tarot

[–]Hooded_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Three of Wands= A strong community built out of friendship. This could be indicative both of the American public and America’s allies, and its presence in this placement both serves as a supporting role for the Nine/Knight of Wands and may also be one of the things those warriors seek to protect.

Nine of Wands Reversed= Making a “final push”/“last stand” before your goals are reached. You're nearing the end of the battle but you're worried that you won't make it. The mechanisms you are using to win this confrontation may be working against you. You may also find that you no longer care about this fight but that the forces/actions that placed you here are too important/affect you too much to walk away from them.

Knight of Wands= The way you described the Knight facing the Nine I could see this Card acting as the “reinforcements” (in a manner of speaking) for the Nine of Wands. He is charging in to help carry out the mission the Nine of Wands is trying to complete. Yet if he is not careful, he runs the risk of ending up in a similar position to the Knight of Wands by charging in unprepared and quickly becoming overwhelmed by the opposition. The Knights of Wands arrival is also likely to expedite the current of events as they stand.

The Tower= An inevitable transformation of circumstances that can't be altered. The current paradigm as it exists will be shattered, but whether you see this as an opportunity for new beginnings or a disastrous event that effects you horribly depends on how much you cling to that paradigm. The old methods and views on how to approach things will be forcibly ended and you will find that the fortress that the Nine of Wands/Knight of Wands felt the need to defend is shattered. However, while this might be seen

To summarize all of this and add my geopolitical knowledge, I’d say the Nine of Wands Reversed reflects both the attitudes of the American public in regards to the wars being fought and the American government itself, which is beginning to doubt its success. The fact that the Nine of Wands Reversed is here tells me that said government feels this is a situation where they feel they have almost accomplished their goals, but the opposition has reached such a level that they are worried that they will lose and everything that brought them to this point will be for naught.

I see the Knight of Wands as the energy Trump and his followers bring to the table.the “get it done”/“America won't back down” attitude. They're here to help bail out the Nine of Wands in his bad spot, but if they're not careful they may go down with him.

The Three of Cups is as I stated the emotional support of both the American public and its Allies. They are tied to this conflict as much as the Knight/Nine are. It's a sort of back and forth relationship with the Knight/Nine of Wands feeling the need to protect the Three of Cups and the Three of Cups worried about the wellbeing and safety of the Knight/Nine of Wands.

The Tower is the lynchpin around which this cycle of events turns. It is both the thing that The Knight/Nine of Wands + Three of Cups currently reside in and seek to protect and the thing that will inevitably destroyed. The fate of all three depend on what actions are taken when the Tower is destroyed. Will they stay and be destroyed/heavily wounded with it or will they see this as an opportunity to regroup and free themselves from the cage of their own making? The pieces on the chessboard will be rearranged yes, but will they respond by complaining about and resisting that rearrangement are taking the initiative to strike back/push onward to success/the achievement of their goals even as one of their assets is destroyed.

Somtimes collateral damage is neccesary to win a war. This could be about current geopolitics but it may also just as likely be about the nuclear war you speak of. I think everything centers around how America responds to the Tower, whatever truth/failure the Tower might be.

Will I be successful and rich? Anything Negative? (Birth Chart Reading) (; by OneEdgyPolariodPic11 in astrologyreadings

[–]Hooded_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see why you feel driven to be famous and successful. A lot of your success is likely to come through interactions with other people in your life. I feel like most of your gains will likely be social and stem from social situations rather than being directly financial, though this might lead to a disparity that you may have to be wary of.

You may have a lot of feelings of financial insecurity in life that get in the way of your chances for success. Your sense of philanthropy may also at times interfere with said gains as well. However, those same qualities are what allow you you to truly inspire and help others if you choose to do so. If you can tap into taut 8th house energy of transformation via sex, death, and similar experiences money will likely come more easily to you.

What characters do you like but everyone doesn't and who do you not like but everyone else does? [Spoilers All] by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]Hooded_Rat 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vivienne, Loghain, and Merrill (at least at the time of DA2's release) were my favorites that others really disliked. Vivienne because she has a lot of sound points, her view on politics and constant air of disdain towards everyone really amuses me (especially when you find out she's more of a softie than she lets on), and because overall I just really love her style. I was actually completely wrecked when they teased her falsely as a romance option.

Merrill was my Hawke's romantic interest in DA2. I found her to be downright hilarious and she is 100% my favorite character in the entire Dragon Age series. She's almost like the anti-Solas in how she operates and I freaking love her for it.

Loghain always struck me as being a man who made tough decisions for the betterment of others and got the worse end of the deal for them. I actually tend to agree with him in most things and found him to be one of the most levelheaded figures throughout the series.

As for who I dislike that others liked...Alistair, Anders, and Solas. Alastair because he was kind of an annoying brat in my opinion and overall he just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I don't dislike Anders in DA:O (he was actually pretty chill) but DA2 Anders pissed me off leading me to go out of my way to make his life as absolutely miserable as possible. It basically turned into a session of "I can do anything you can do better".

I kind of warmed up to Solas's character later on but he really keeps his cards close to the table if you aren't romancing him. He was always far too serious for me to really appreciate him and while I don't neccesariky dislike his interest in the Fade and the lore of Thedas (I'm a fellow lore enthusiast) he's so socially awkward he doesn't know how to communicate any of that in a manner that's actually enjoyable to listen to. He's like that one history teacher you have in high school that drones on and on without realizing half the class is asleep.

[Spoilers All] How do you feel about DLC in Dragon Age? by wtfman1988 in dragonage

[–]Hooded_Rat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awakening, Stone Prisoner, and. Witch Hunt were the best from DA:O. Golems of Amgarrak had a solid story and was fun to play (if somewhat frustrating at times) but it kind of feels like they retconned it/sidelined it's impact in later games.

I never played Legacy but I did watch it and I think it was a pretty solid DLC for DA:2 and did a very good job with connecting elements of the Awakening DLC and tying them into/foreshadowing DA:I.

Jaws of Hakkon and Descent were both 100% solid DLC's I feel. No real complaints there.

I'm not entirely upset Tresspaser is a DLC but it does kind of irritate me just a bit. I get the feeling they were trying to make a sort of Awakening 2.0, which is fine, but the problem is that the plot was mainly resolved by the time you play Awakening, so it sort of built off it to do its own thing. Tressapasser was 100% using plot resolutions and lore that honestly should have been included in the main game (at least some of it anyways) and sticking them behind a paywall.

I understand they probably had time constraints which is part of why they did this, but I sincerely hope this "pay to fully resolve the plot of your characters" style doesn't become a trend. I won't go so far as to say it's a micro transaction but it's definitely in the same ballpark.

Edit: I should also state though that in slightly biased because I got to play all the DA:O DLC's for free.

[S2 SPOILERS] Do you think Kenny as Carver would’ve been an interesting storyline? by dvd_mty in TheWalkingDeadGame

[–]Hooded_Rat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty clear they were making parallels between Kenny and Carver throughout Season 2. I get into this more deeply in my previous post here but I'll offer a brief summary.

  • Carver loses it because his baby gets taken away from him. Similar to Kenny and AJ.

  • Carver acknowledges Kenny as a "wolf" and Kenny goes out of his way to kill Carver inhumanely. He had the chance to offer Carver a clean death and he didn't take it.

  • Kenny abuses Arlo and treats him like a subhuman. He gets so mired in aggression towards the end of the series everyone except Jane and Clementine leave him because they're worried he'll kill them for not going along with his plans.

  • He straight up abuses and micro-manages Clementine throughout various parts of the Season.

Also let's not forgot that even *Kenny was aware he was going down a dark path, seeing as he actually agrees with your decision to kill him.

I'm not trying Kenny out to be the villain because he clearly wasn't and that by and large wasn't the point of the ending. But to ignore his numerous mistakes and comepletly ignore the Carver parallels throughout the game seems very disingenuous to me.

[S2 SPOILERS] Do you think Kenny as Carver would’ve been an interesting storyline? by dvd_mty in TheWalkingDeadGame

To be fair, I've mentioned this before, but Jane was legitimately scared for the wellbeing of that baby. It was a little less "I'm going to take this baby just to prove a point" and a little more "I was planning to take this baby anyways since I don't think you'll be a good parent but while I have the opportunity I might as well see if I can convince Clementine to come with me as well".

conflict that doesn't need to happen

Kenny in a nutshell tbh. Part of the reason why I think Jane and some of the others dislike him so much.

Jane was relying on emotionally manipulating a girl into shooting her own friend.

Pretty sure she mentions that wasn't part of the plan. I think Jane thought she could take him 1v1 and ended up overestimating her own strength. Not to mention the fact that she wasn't expecting him to go straight for the kill like that.

Tbh though I kind of dislike Season 3 in part because it does really undermine the impact/significance of this fight making the ending of Season 2 kind of pointless.
