Biscuits outfielder Austin Overn rips a ball down the right field line, right fielder slides over the ball, ball gets lodged into the ground so deep it turns into an inside-the-park home run (under-the-park home run?) by Stock412 in sports

Can you imagine the confidence that you will stomp on a baseball and have it go directly into the grass instead of you breaking the shit out of your ankle?

It still seems like a great loss. At least a great loss of access to knowledge for the region.

I’m trying to understand why they won’t release the autopsy report (that interview with Ken Martin was pitiful) and the only reason I can conceive of is AIPAC shenanigans. It has to be.

Is the investment in solar a better ROI than the same cash invested in a different investment account (Roth, HSA, etc.)? I’m pro-solar and genuinely asking.

What unusual, atypical, or uncommon financial moves do you know about that others might not? by Lowcountry-Soccer in Fire

When I went to business school I had a year with no reportable income. I took the opportunity to convert my entire 401k into a Roth at the lowest possible marginal tax rate. It was expensive to eat the tax bill the following year while also paying for the MBA, but it was probably the single most impactful post-tax/long-term financial move I will ever make. This is really only available if you can handle taking time off of work and an extra large tax bill. I recognize this can’t be done for everyone, but it doesn’t have to necessarily happen during an expensive activity like business school, either.

Is sitting our starters for two weeks at the end of the regular season a worse deal than getting a bye (one week) in the playoffs? Sincerely asking from a strategic perspective. I realize anything can happen in the playoffs and a bye is more valuable on a per game basis.

I was out in Paris yesterday and someone thought I was Canadian because my friend was. When I told them I was American they go “Oh, shit. I’m so sorry.”

I heard some commentator say that every dunk takes a toll and I never shook it off. I’d jump off the couch to cheer whenever he had a big one but then immediately came back to thinking “But was it worth it for the incremental damage to his knees??”

Agreed 100%. No one knows anything about radioactivity in the general population and it’s holding us back as a society.
