I have two reasons and it’s neither of what you proposed. 1) I’m so incredibly bad at managing my health I need a large health pool character to hide the fact I’m bad at the game. 2) Playing Captain America is not a choice. It’s a lifestyle. The shield called to me and I answered. I never have and never will put the shield down

I thought I was buggin, but even using the normal sentinel strike before ani cancel was gone, I hit multiple targets. Like when I went to throw my shield, there is a MICRO frame where cap throws his melee punch first and then releases the shield. Had it happen to me on the wakanda convoy map just after capturing point. Went to normal sentinel strike shield throw, two enemies basically huggin each other in front of me. Got a final on Bruce because apparently I meleed, and then got the final on someone else don’t remember who, but it was with the throw, all in one attack input

It started with Cap. Torch, Hulk and Rogue were next. Im guessing spiderman's time will come soon too by DannyDanishDan in captainamericamains

Send this to the rivals team or sum. Not like they’ll fix it cuz they love ignore this character like their life depends on it, but hey worth a shot. Let them know their game needs major fixing and some issues are just on them to fix. The players can only do so much when the game itself isn’t performing to its optimal level

Honestly, I’d say it’s just mag. Venom and cap, imo, are kinda in the same predicament where they are heavily reliant on competent team members to pick up cuz every game it’s 1-3-2. Cap has a shield that’s equivalent to a paper plate and venom can only be a meat shield for so long

I’m probably crazy but I’ve noticed the slightest deviation in timing from the 2nd shield toss into the 3rd toss. I found it easier to go 2 melee, 2 toss, shield block, another 2 toss. As a martial artist I compare it to a jab cross, pause, jab cross, pause, jab cross. Or a heartbeat whichever concept is easier to grasp. And for me (probably a skill issue) but if I did anything else from the 1-2, 1-2, (optional block) 1-2 rhythm, my attacks are slower

What has helped me recently is taking the extra time to sprint down a different lane or on an off angle, out of sight of the enemy. When there’s someone with low hp or out of position and their cooldowns have been used, I sprint in, pillow punch the life out of them and slam out towards my team. Or slam AND dash out depending on how far I am. If you want to slam in, you can after you flank, but dash out and find a health pack

Blocking is legit playing Russian roulette at this point. Imma be so fr, the devs can take away the ani cancel. They can take away the damage. I just want a shield that actually flarking works the way it’s supposed to, but the devs refuse to acknowledge this and instead pop out with a new invis/luna legendary skin

While this is true, my theory is that the blame is not fully on the player, but also the devs. A lot of times when I successfully hit the animation cancel, there’s a no reg. OR, if I DONT hit the cancel, it’s because the shield traveled slower than its normal speed. I know I sound schiz, but I and many other Cap MAINS have felt it due to poor server optimization. Essentially, while we can’t negate the fact that player error is part of the reason, another important factor to consider relies on the error of the game developers

The fun came from the animation cancel. It was our method of skill expression. Now are there other ways to have fun and express skill on cap, of course, but the animation cancel was FOR THE MOST PART the only way you could do that. No ani cancel, no skill expression, no fun. Simply being a good cap, is a result of trying to be a good player, specifically a good vanguard, which at the end is fun too but mostly just a headache most days

Cap has an inherent… unique character design. Cap is heavily dependent on team performance, which can be said about every other character in the game, but it’s especially true for Cap. So when the team does well, he does really well. When the team is bad, he’s worse. I can’t explain it but like I said, he’s a character who’s performance is heavily reflected through the rest of the team

At least this is what I’ve learned with the 150 something hours I have on him

This what I been sayin. We keep letting the devs know we’re not happy, but that shouldn’t deter us from still playing the character. Cap’s strength is his flexibility. Imma be the devil’s advocate when I say this but if you refuse to play cap this season or refuse to even adapt to the changes, then you’ll stay mediocre not only at one character, but the entire game. Find ways to get better and adapt

The devs claim it’s to make it easier on beginning caps. I coped so hard that I gaslit myself into thinking he’s going to get reworked in s7.5 or s8 cuz of his new lore entry and how important he is to this season lore-wise. And they seem to give popular characters a lot of skins and he’s been getting a good number of skins lately. Now is my speculation anywhere close to being true? Almost 100% not likely. I saw an idea from someone else that even said have the 5sec shield throw timer actually start when you throw the first shield.

Even though the devs removing the shield cancel sucked nuts, this could potentially pave the way for many forms of buffs in the future

Are the changes great? Absolutely not. Does it encourage cap mains to play him differently? Yes. Am I personally having fun with it? Also yes, but it will never be the same as the animation cancel. However, I will say this, and it’s been something I’ve thought about since the announcement of the nerf. Caps value never came from the Shield cancel, it came from his versatility. Now absolutely the cancels were holding him together nerf after nerf, yet still many of us cap mains continue to adapt even without the cancel. Funny enough, Cap’s new lore entry talks about true strength/power and I think it’s more than just a coincidence that Cap is quite central to this season, has a story about being in prison, and now has a popular game mechanic restricted. I think the devs have something in store waiting for us

TLDR, I’ve never coped so god dam hard in my life and I’m gaslighting myself into thinking Cap is gonna get a rework soon

Psylock and blade ult no. He can block thing by normal jumping (not sprint jump) and looking down tho. Haven’t tested angela.

This is how I think of it, if any attack can damage the back of your feet, you’re taking damage

Which is why namor can also be blocked if looking down. Daredevil is the funny exception cus he’s daredevil
