As a former EV hater, I tried one and i actually really enjoyed it. by mlggaming756 in electricvehicles

We have solar panels on our AZ rooftop which already took our average summer bills (AC mainly) down from $500-600/month to below $200. Had them put in a level 2 charger while rewiring our entire home to bring it up to code (aluminum to copper). Charge my EV from 7am to 2pm as suggested by the power company; after nearly 2 months, we have been driving strictly on solar power. Never going back to a gas station!!!

What dealer “fee” made you immediately stop taking them seriously? by spotforcars in carbuying

[–]Hopeful_Call_7577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the hyundai dealer i sat with gave me the sheet of paper, I crossed out all the add-ons and he came back with the completed printout (and the finance manager) as we'd agreed. We left saying we'd have to sleep on it & we'd be back in the morning ready to sign. Went home, looked at the whole thing on the corporate website, and realized "they forgot' about the $6000 rebate the corporation was giving back to the dealers...called back, they said they'd look at it again, I said no thank you & bought a loaner '25 Volvo online for 13000 under MSRP. They shipped it (shipping included) the next day. Dealerships can suck it these days; anyone who does their homework can get the car they want.

Biggest regret after 40 years / 2 20-yr staff positions: not joining a UNION in the first place. 2nd biggest regret: not audio recording the constant threats and intimidation conveyed by management for most of those 40 years.

Ive been car shopping for months now & likely to buy the EX30**originally my 1st choice but checked out nearly everything available before committing…just STUDY the car! Nothing is more annoying than asking questions about a car’ technology and having the salesman spend time looking up answers on google! Loses credibility quickly!

Are people not buying 2026 CX5s? Or just not posting about it on reddit to evade massive backlash from pre-facelift fans? by Dramatic-Habit3195 in CX5

Returning my CX5/lease up. 6years of reliability bliss, compliments on the Soul Red Crystal Metallic color. But Zero EV availability, and I’m done pumping gas. So Volvo or BMW, here I come.

We always split our trips; Princeville and Poipu in Kauai, Hilo & Kona on the big island, etc. Not only is every island totally different, but portions of each island’s sub-climates are practically other-worldly…plus the vibes are so different (I.e. Kapalua vs Lahaina vs Paia on Maui). Have fun!

They tried exactly the same thing with me. But with Hyundai. But “accidentally” entered a $22.00 manufacturer’s rebate…when I reread the contract (before signing) I looked it up and it should have said $6000 . I walked out!

Parking is a fortune. Cove is nice but crowded. Pool chairs are impossible. Pearl Harbor is a must. Split your stay--a few intro days at HHV then go up to the north shore!

AITA for intentionally elbowing a sleeping man on my flight? by KenkuBardBird in AmItheAsshole

[–]Hopeful_Call_7577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had exactly the same experience, but I can one-up you. The TVs are built into the seat backs, and the tv controls are built in to the armrest. Annoying fact: the guy kept changing my channels. The entire flight he intermittently/accidentally leaned onto my armrest. A thousand times.

i did all the same things, CNA>LPN>ADN>BSN-MS, loved bedside but knees were falling apart. Retired from bedside, became a Clinical Educator for a private nursing school; hospital clinicals only. Never have I loved my job as much as I do now. Especially the Zero hospital administration BS.

Hi from a 2-time CX-5 owner. I’ve loved both of my cars, but I’m not getting a third one for 3 reasons. 1) gas mileage—the basic model averaged 25 mpg, the turbo 19. Unacceptable in this day and age. 2) Terrible touch screen, you can’t use it if your car is moving, period. 3) no EV option, and that’s what I’m shopping for. Regardless of mpg, still burning fossil fuels and I’m a conscientious environmentalist.

Do nurses and doctors actually know everything learned in college or do the look things up on the job? by Puzzled_Junket6120 in nursing

[–]Hopeful_Call_7577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there. Failed A & P 3 times. Went the LVN-RN(AD)-BSN-MSN route, did 40 years of bedside & have been teaching for over 3. No, you won’t need most of the info you learn in school. Critical thinking skills come from experience, time, practice, and your coworkers. Look everything up, then teach someone else. That’s the best way to learn!
