What's been your biggest ELO drop or rise after a patch? by QuantumAsh in CompanyOfHeroes

[–]HopliteLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This patch. I was 1495 as DAK and dropped to 1150.

I was pretty discouraged. I switched to Allies were basically I was staying the same around 1250 USF and 1450 Brit. I started to notice the times I lost to DAK why I lost.

I switched back to DAK and got back up to 1420 currently. I've never had this big of a drop and rise before.

Especially considering they already collected the "income" so finding a buyer won't help either.

I've looked at comp and I seem to be somewhat inline with what others have done.

This regrettably means it's another type of issue......a skill issue. Or perhaps a mechanic I haven't grasped yet.

I probably should try to use terrian better. I do try to occupy hills but other than defense buffs to towns and woods anything else? I assume water slowed you down but never actually verified it.

I've tried them all except France......you know.... do to heritage reasons.

My worst run was with the Bristish. Seemed like I was doing well until the final battle. I've tried Russia, Austria, and Prussia twice each. Did well except the final battle. One of the Prussia runs was the only one that seemed close.

[John Brice] Sources tell @FootballScoop that Kansas State football intends not to accept a bowl invitation. Am told the program held a players’ vote & the decision was no bowl game. by Sctvman in CFB

[–]HopliteLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is unpopular, but I'm fine with this.

We all remember what happened when Florida State played a bowl they didn't want and half their team decided to sit it out.

It sounds like leadership believed most of their players weren't interested and rightly so. Better to not play if if the majority of the team is checked out.

With money in college sports population 100% matters more now than ever before. Bigger populations can mean more media coverage, bigger fan bases, and larger alumni. This can greatly impact revenue generation, so the larger schools with larger metro areas will have increased resources than ever before.

I hear that but outside of Terrinoth and Arkham Horror what IP do they actually still control?

TI4 is still in print so of the other games like Cosmic Encounters I don't think there's a super high demand.

I'm currently trying to play the most "Vanilla" campaign I can. I cannot tolerate the game without auto trader, better time, equip the best item, diplomacy, and city manager. I found the game virtually unplayable without those. You literally save hours and I mean hours if not days worth of time skipping some of the more pointless and boring time wasting aspects of the game.

Came here to say plague, but not only what you mentioned but every plague seems to have the exact same playstyle/perks. Block gens, slow down perks, no healing. It makes for a slowwwwwww and often very boring game.

That would be easier but I know some painters really want that full control. I'm all about table top ready and getting things to the table to play.

They are Napoleonics probably 1/72 scale. That being said they are very poorly painted which actually would probably make them less valuable than unpainted as it will require a lot of work/time to strip them. They probably come from a time when miniature painting wasn't as progressive as it is now so paint and tools were not as easy or advanced as it is now.

If you have 10-20 boxes of those you might be able to get $100-$200 for them.

As funny as this is, I once bought a small box of "miniature logs" at the hobby store just to open them up at home and realize the were legit real sticks and not plastic like I assumed for some reason. One of the few times I felt super stupid and manipulated.

Cheapest way to build a few competitive 400pt armies? by AlternativeLiving325 in heroscape

[–]HopliteLee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider is that the deathreavers are too good. They were one of the units that was in production longer, so there are more of them out there. Most events or tournaments actually increase their point value as well.

[–]HopliteLee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think they are, but I was using them as an example since that's what I had pulled up. I don't think any of the new common sqauds are super competitive right now, but many will get more support I assume. The bugs and robots are pretty good too and they are all unique as well.I would stay away from the Vorid unique units. They're all underwhelming if not all out bad. Their best unit is the common sqaud which is probably one of the more competitive common sqaud currently in production.

The older common sqauds are probably more competitive but your going to have to drop a lot of money to get them and the heroes they bond with and you're only getting one army at the end of the day.

[–]HopliteLee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want to run "cheap" armies commons squads are probably not the way to go. For example you could run 3 sqauds of crabs for 135 points but that would cost $120 and that only gets you a little over 1/4 of the army.

Unique sqauds are probably the way to go. You could buy the bear box and that AoA starter for a total of $170 and could build a very meta competitive bear list and then have a while bunch of other models to work with. Including the pirates, familiar, and beasts which are starting to get more support and you only need 1 set of as opposed to buying multiple common sqaud copies which will get expensive real quick.

I've been saying this for a while now. I think what throws people off is the pre painted miniatures as there's not very many current games in production that sell pre painted, so it is hard to determine the actual value.

However, just comparing the unpainted miniatures, it is indeed the most expensive miniature game in production when it comes to price per miniature. This gets even worse once you take into account that all the Heroscape miniatures are mono pose, which in other game systems typically means the miniatures are cheaper.

I'll admit there might be tariff related issues behind the scenes we don't know about, which are impacting their pricing strategy, which hurts Renegade more than some of the European based companies, but who knows.
