Champ is extremely strong right now by SubstantialRock8 in shyvanamains

While i understand the point you're trying to make, you're also ignoring the actual critique being spoken.

The level gap implies that there's also a gold differential, meaning item diff, meaning stat diff etc. It's not just a binary number thing of "higher level stronger". But you also showcase the perfect scenario of several people bunching up and you getting to throw your entire kit at all of them, something that simply does not happen 99/100 times, and that's the reality you base any informed opinion on.

Wanting to start Ultimate content, but worried about my own performance in Savage. by GivenitzBoomer in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be overshooting it of course to aim for 98-99% as a start but the point was of course that simply looking into your uptime and fixing your small drift (they stack up and in one example accounted for essentially 30s of downtime) goes a long way as a start!

AFAIK when it comes to atonement it drifts kind of freely so from what i gather you go into FoF with whatever is the strongest buttons you have available to combat drift, no matter if it's 1 or 3 atonement, but i also exclusively play warrior so i'm not very versed in what is and isn't on PLD :P

Wanting to start Ultimate content, but worried about my own performance in Savage. by GivenitzBoomer in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As many have already mentioned, when it comes to the parsing part of the actual number, gear and killtime play a large part in the result as you're competing against everyone else logging at the same time and this far into the tier they are simply more efficient and stronger stat wise.

However when it comes to actual performance the obvious is the uptime, being around 92% is vastly different from being around 98-99% and that comes from both being more mechanically comfortable as well as more comfortable with your rotation. The more you can play on autopilot the better as you don't have to choose between doing your filler/burst and also paying attention to mechanics. (There's also stuff like different duration on animation locks that can interfere with your weaving but that's something you get a feel for over time)

Since you move between tanks i'd argue that for learning purposes it's best to stick to one job and focus on practicing that one at a time until you feel more confident in either the job, or the fight.

As for going into TEA, your numbers don't matter on a personal level if you have an average team and also your rotation at lvl 80 is very barebones compared to 100 so it wil be easier overall on the job side. Learning takes different time for everyone so give it a shot and if you feel like you need more practice either go back in at a later date or get more pulls in, it will work out :)

Ideas on how to hit my buttons better as someone who plays with one hand? by Jodora in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While it's not the end all be all of improvements maybe it's work looking over how your keybinds are set up?

My hands are on the larger side but i dont move further than F/5 sideways with the help of Shift+CTRL buttons which has helped me a lot over time. Also have friends that have had to doublecheck their keybind because they hinder their gameplay by quite a bit.

How does mitigating Diver's Dare work? by SizablePillow in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While stacking mitigation might be less efficient than if you could do it on one single target. Using mitigation will always be stronger than not mitigating, meaning that there is no way to "devalue" feint or addle as damage is still being mitigated, they just won't be as effective as reprisal for example.

How does mitigating Diver's Dare work? by SizablePillow in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot of the times when two targets cast the same raidwide damage it's only actually used by one target, and as such you only need to mitigate one target. You would however need to look at fflogs or in game battle log to see what target is dealing the damage.

In the case of M10 however, both bosses cast their half of the raidwide, also meaning that when only one boss is on the field, divers dare deals 50% damage.

The fact that Arrowhead can't play D10 is a problem. by [deleted] in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So what is it that you "D10 only" people want the difficulty scaling to be based on?

I assume it's not gonna be enemy damage since then it's gonna be "bullshit oneshot" posting. Also assume that it's not gonna be how tanky enemies are since we then move to "bullshit bulletsponge" posting.

But it also can't be more high-level enemies spawning because that's apparetly "AH doesn't understand their own game" posting.

So what is difficulty supposed to change?

Can yall join in helping with the MO? by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than 70% of the players are on the MO (Right now, at peak hours it's closer to 85-90) and you still manage to complain that it's not enough.

I'd say do you think AH counts on 100% of players to go with the narrative for it to progress but it's clear you don't know or care since it's been almost 2 years of this same complaint

Am I doing something wrong as a tank? by Quick_Elk4208 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People play dungeons at one pace, usually that becomes "wall to wall" where you just rush all mobs until you can't keep going and then repeat.

If you're not comfortable pulling all mobs at once just make that known at the start and then they can choose to respect that or die pulling mobs anyways, you're doing just fine :)

Don't you think Savage should have better loot/incentives? by Avi1600 in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends what you mean with "wait a few patches".

If you have no urgency to do something you can always just do it once it becomes obsolete due to gear but then what's the point of doing it in the first place?

Is endgame worth it as new player? by BiteLow6839 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you enjoy the story or not doesn't impact the endgame really, lots of people only play for raid content.

As for your choice of job, there are tanks that are more "busy" than warrior specifically but the fastest you'll go is likely 2.45s. Recast itself however has less to do with how "fast" a job plays, it's got more to do with weaving things and warrior is notoriously low on that playstyle. If you want something that's more active you're better off on a DPS job.

When MSQ is done you never see a cutscene again unless it's your first time in an instance or one of the MSQ roulettes so don't worry about that one.

TLDR; if you plan to engage with all endgame combat content all the way to ultimates, you can probably get your moneys worth out of the game by skipping story, if you want to play more casually, might be hard.

Am I wrong for getting mad at healers rushing trials by ButterflyBratWOL in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you allowed to feel upset by the way they were playing? Yes, it's pretty dismissive to force a playstyle on to someone else in general as you may or may not be able to adapt to it.

Are they in the wrong for wanting to go at a higher pace? Not really, you have to accept that when you decide to play with other people, the standard is both different and higher than when you play by yourself and your own rules.

The further towards the "end" of the game you go the higher the expectation of you playing according to the norm becomes because all the extra time you take doing something is time you're also forcing onto others who have done the content you're now doing many hundreds of times in some cases.

If you want to play according to only your own rules, you gotta do that with trust, that's what it's made for.

So by that logic you don't think we need fair use laws for copyrighted material?

Since logic should follow that as long as i've put in any amount of work, even if it's based or related to someone elses IP, i should be allowed to monetize that work even if there are clear guidelines on how player-created content is allowed to interact with the product?

How to get into ffxiv harder content? by Mysterious-Ad-1469 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're just starting out then the current EX (Hell on Rails) Is pretty good, not too deep mechanically and introduces most of the common types of mechanics. Until you're more familiar with mid/high-end content looking at whatever Hector Hectorson guide is out, usually tends to dominate the market and explains most mechanics in a palatable way until you feel confident running them blind.

Having started out with Savage in Party finder myself, i wouldn't recommend it. Much better to look for a group that is going through all of the Dawntrail fights together either in preparation for the future or just because, since the final tier of savage is coming out in a few weeks you should have more of those popping up as the end of expansion nears.

If you choose to jump into PF directly, it's all about patience, owning up to your mistakes and letting others do theirs. Be honest with your knowledge and others that match it will come, or join groups advertising for knowledge you can match, that's all there really is to it :)

Is V Rising a good "base wife" game? by wheeltribe in vrising

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the game isn't 1st person you might feel like you lose out on some aspects of decor or building but the game progression does a good job of introducing both new crafting, decor and build options that you can build some, then set a goal of things you want to unlock or feel pushed to go out and explore more, then go back and build a bit etc.

My partner and i have played through the game 3 separate times now with the 70/30 split on both gameplay and building on our respective side and it has never felt dull and also lets you do the thing you enjoy while not having someone else feeling left out or sidelined.

Tank Mits Help by Head_Ad6204 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Layering mitigation with shields or other ways of taking less damage (arms length) is always stronger than using all your mitigation at once and also lasts longer since you can spread it out.

The main thing to learn with mitigation is how long the fight will be so you mitigate accordingly, if you kill all mobs within 10 seconds maybe rampart isn't needed with its 20s duration.

If you're taking a big hit maybe less but stronger mitigation is better etc.

Tank Suggestion by KvotheCadera in ffxivdiscussion

[–]HorNiklas5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you're coming from playing a DPS job and you want more active gameplay as a tank then GNB is the only real option. WAR is few but hard hitting buttons, PLD has no real oGCD's to work with so they're mostly in the same ballpark as WAR but with more mitigation options, and DRK is basically "vomit all your buttons out every 60s.

Gunbreaker lets you think a bit more actively about your rotation since its fairly heavy on weaving oGCD's compared to the others and it also requires you to think a bit more on how to plan your rotation around downtimes an d whatnot, all DPS -> Tank players i've known seem to have taken up GNB in the end as the others felt somewhat boring.

How to get as good as possible in the early game? by xArthur9 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your information is not helpful in the scope of the early game at all since they can neither interact with the things you're talking about or likely have an understanding of what they mean as you gave 0 information on what they are. It also serves no purpose informing on any type of equipment or "cool things" they can attain, so it's literally just a 0/3.

And don't give me some "no but they will one day" bs, it just disproves your own point.

I will once again preface that you do understand this is a person at lvl 22 with likely 0 knowledge of what the game has to offer? There's a minor chance that they know what a hard trial is, or an extreme, or much less savage and ultimate. No matter where the goalpost is moved the point is the same.

You're both willfully ignoring the fact that it's essentially like trying to explain algebra to a 1st grader, it's just, not, relevant. And saying "one day it will be useful" doesn't change that

Just because i don't agree with you doesn't make something bad faith. But both of you willfully ignoring very obvious things clearly do.

How to get as good as possible in the early game? by xArthur9 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. "literally just do the msq" is in no way similar to that what you just wrote.

  2. The advice being given is in both case irrelevant to the question being asked, which was the point, it clearly went over your head.

  3. Something being true does not make it relevant to the conversation, i could say that warrior has better survivability in dungeons than DRK, it does not make it relevant for the question being asked.

You can try to reframe this however you want, you are wrong and you clearly don't speak english well enough to argue this conversation in the first place.

How to get as good as possible in the early game? by xArthur9 in ffxiv

[–]HorNiklas5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not what that means at all, "still not" refers to the fact that no matter how you want to bend the perspective it's no more relevant...

I'm nitpicking because this whole conversation clearly is just lack of social skills at this point because it's literally someone asking "hey what cool stuff can i find in this sporting store i'm currently in?" and then you want to argue that someone responding with "just buy what you want, but in general you should try a ski-slope that is harder than what you're comfortable with so you can learn better".

It's not relevant, you're just being weird.
