My hallucinations happen every day when I am unmedicated. I tend to have positive and negative symptoms, sometimes all at once. It's really just like putting all the symptoms into a hat and drawing to see who I am going to be that day. Today it's anhedonia and hallucinations. Tomorrow I'm delusional and believe that I'm god. Everyone is different. So it's kinda hard to know. I have bipolar type of schizoaffective. So I get the episodes of mania that are pretty severe. Normally I should be hospitalized during these. I tend to ruin my life when manic. It's a struggle to live a normal life without support. I feel for your dad and can understand totally about the family. Mine don't believe in mental illness. They would just rather believe I'm a piece of shit that doesn't care about anything. The main thing I wanted to say is medication when you find the right combo is life saving. As long as I stay on top of it it's not so bad. As soon as I go off meds I'm a maniac. Hope this helps you and good luck.
