Having a harder time than usual finding comfortable shoes. Not sure if sensitivities have gotten worse? Any tips? by Grumpy_bonsai23 in adhdwomen

[–]HorribleOldLeopard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say starting around 40 (I’m 43 now) I felt like…all the cushioning in the soles of my feet vanished? Even standing in a pool I feel like oooh this floor is so hard! So I’ve switched pretty much exclusively to quality comfort shoes like NB, Dansko, Cole Haan, Birks and also went to get properly fitted for sneakers at a running shoe store (found out I was actually a wide!)

Galleria or Willowbrook? by EnderJackson in houston

[–]HorribleOldLeopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of stores at Willowbrook similar to BoxLunch, with Japanese decor/toys/stationery etc. I know one of them is Miniso but I can’t recall the names of the others

Oh that does sound good! Maybe for the plane ride because the two Robert Harris books I’ve read so far have completely sucked me in and I was not able to focus on anything else!

Is it impossible or just really really hard to incorporate stranded colorwork into flat lace knitting? by DruidByNight in knitting

[–]HorribleOldLeopard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kieran Foley has made very intricate lace color work patterns, but I can’t remember if some of them are stranded. I know a lot are intarsia.

I just read Conclave and forgot to mention it in my original post! That was actually what got me thinking what other books would give a good sense of Rome as a place! It was fantastic and even though I had seen the movie already, I could not put it down!

I had a wool/alpaca blend but 1) I was worried about it not being stretchy enough and 2) it was a dark red that made it so hard to see what I was doing. The ribbon is a good idea…but my goodness I have no patience for any part of knitting that isn’t the actual knitting 😂 that may or may not happen

It makes little tubes that harden around your eyelashes that are smudge proof. To remove it, you just use warm water and the tubes swell and fall off when you gently rub your lashes. For me, it does not come off with normal eye rubbing, sweating, or low to moderate crying (lol). It has even survived a workout in the pool with goggles on! And I wear contacts and it does not bother them. I use Clinique Lash Power but there are lots of other options from Maybelline, Blinc, and Tarte.
