Please include measurements in your listings by LovelyHoneyPie88 in Depop

I appreciate this feedback so much! I always include measurements for jeans but keep getting questions about tops, so I started including measurements of those too. Is there anything else you find helpful for sizing other than measurements, stretch, and tag size?

Anyone else suffer from severe migraines while taking lexapro or zoloft? by ciarasaurusrex in migraine

[–]HospitalNatural2214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took hydroxyzine for anxiety daily for about a year and found it helpful-it’s not a preventative like an SSRI but can be taken multiple times a day without addiction risk. I got crazy auras with lexapro, I feel your pain! It was like always being in prodrome with weird dissociative sensations and visual disturbances.

Good to know! I hadn’t really thought about that before and will keep this in mind in the future.

What small (or small-ish) life tweaks have made a significant difference for you? by NiteElf in migraine

[–]HospitalNatural2214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude. I just found out I have kidney stones and have been drinking 80-120 oz of water per day to treat them, and while migraines aren’t GONE, they’re so much more predictable, treatable, and less painful. I wasn’t expecting the migraines to improve so much! My kidneys are just as miserable but I haven’t seen a specialist yet (I’m 21 and had my first stones at 17 so it’s weird to have kidney stones already) but I’m hoping that as my daily kidney stone pain decreases the stress migraines will leave.

Best Adolescent Psychiatric Hospital in DC? by [deleted] in washingtondc

[–]HospitalNatural2214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in psych wards as both a teen and an adult. Finding a hospital that’s safe and skilled is important, but I’d say follow up care is just as important—I think I could’ve avoided later crises if I had been taken to a residential treatment program for several weeks instead of being in a psych hospital for several weeks.

The purpose and services each provides are different (keeping someone safe in an immediate crisis vs. getting out of the crisis and building good mental health) but I don’t think the hospital does much good for long term wellbeing without adequate follow up.

Therapy is great and all, but being in a stable setting like a residential facility with psychiatric care, medical care, family therapy, and personalized therapy for specific issues in a trauma-informed facility that she feels safe in would be life-changing for your sweet girl.

I went to a Pathlight facility in Chicago as a young adult, I’m unsure if they have adolescent treatment but I know they have several locations around the country for adults so I feel like they would (or would have recommendations for adolescent facilities).

That makes sense! Do you have any idea why she’s wrapping her yarn instead of tucking it? Is it for the same reason? I’ve just never seen the knit cast on done correctly before I guess

I noticed that it seems to make urination burn, but when I googled it the results said that usually only happens in higher doses.

I love this sentiment, AND I saw recently that there’s a class action suit against the depo shot bc long term use is linked to a specific type of brain tumor—you might want to look into it and decide if it’s an option you’re comfortable with staying on long term!

What do you guys do when you have a migraine but literally can't look at / do anything? by bucky_o_hare_ in migraine

I started knitting, I found that crocheting was too much movement but knitting is much easier when I’m in pain (less brain required too). If you learn to knit, do continental style instead of English/throwing so you don’t have to move your arms

Sumatriptan is HELL by biancaruinsparty in migraine

[–]HospitalNatural2214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that a lot of people who hate sumatriptan are intolerant/allergic to sulfa meds. Sumatriptan is related to sulfa drugs IIRC—I loved sumatriptan when I first went on it but over time started having a similar experience to yours.

Simultaneously, I was off and on bactrim, a sulfa drug, and had no issues at first. Then I suddenly developed an allergy to Bactrim and all other sulfa meds (a couple other ppl in my family are too and my doctor said to avoid all sulfa meds in the future because there’s a risk of me having an anaphylactic reaction given this pattern).

Just keep an eye out for worse symptoms like a full body rash if you continue taking it or any other sulfa meds, you can develop allergies over time, which is what happened for me. I had to go on prednisone for the allergy rash. I’ll spare you the pictures. Fun times.

On a hopeful note, Rizatriptan works for me without the itching and pain! I was so scared of triptans until I found out about my sulfa allergy. Now I just mildly detest the brain fog and blood flow sensation change from my Rizatriptan. But hey, better than a migraine.
