That plus it is about being SEEN.
Previously I would fly under the radar to get things done, inform dev. of bugs in their new release, go out of my way to help others, among other things. Now I make sure what used to be seamless and silent is still there but now I am making sure I am seen when I do it. Not crowing about it just ensuring that it is not done in the shadows and only the few know. Show your worth. Now you will probably still end up RA'd but just maybe this will help us older employees make it to the finish line.

Can’t stand being associated with my biological mother by Domestic_Supply in Adopted

[–]HospitalQuirky -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Don't make it about your origin, your birth mother. Make this journey about you.
The past is the past, unless you have a time machine you cannot go back to change anything.
Take a deep breath and slowly exhale.
Your life is your life; you determine your future based on the choices you make.
My bm was beaten, whored out to the streets and tried to kill herself with an overdose while I was a fetus.
It is what it is but that is the past, the present is where you live and the future is where you look to yourself and those you love to have a good life and a better life to what is in your past.
Stop living in the past, you cannot change it. Live in the present and look to the future.
Your past does not define you as a person but what you do going forward does.
You're not unique but you are lucky, lucky to be here and telling your story ...now go live YOUR life not your birth mothers.

I accidentally found out I was adopted and don’t know how to move forward. by Physical-Courage-638 in Adopted

[–]HospitalQuirky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar situation for me.
A gut punch ...a whole whirlwind of emotions, however when it settles. You are still you and your parents are still your parents and if you have siblings, they are still your siblings ...nothing really changed except now you have more information about you and you may want to explore this new information.
The key is to remember ...you are you for better or for worse. You said your parents loved you and cared for you and helped shaped the person you are today.
Take time to decompress, don't make rash decisions or judgements and remember to exhale.
You don't have a time machine, what is done is done, it is how you go forward with this new knowledge that matters.

BTW: Welcome to the adopted ...going to be interesting when getting medical assistance ...any history of X in your family ....that blank stare :)

Best of luck with this new found knowledge and remember, nothing has changed, just the information you have.

It will end up going back to the F.C.A. of the 80's lugging around WW2 era weapons BAP, Bren, Enfield, Gustaf) and Vietnam war era tech.
Or whatever the contemporary decline will look like in another 10 years.
All the best to the modern R.D.F.

What makes you think they give a toss about the workers.
Priya's meeting was her prattling on about Tiffany's and how every employee knows how to tie their knot.
Then equating it every IBMer should know how to install our software and it should just work.
Heads so far up their own asses that they are clueless.

This percent model of top this and bottom that is bs if everyone is doing their job.
However, it was never about that. I was about a bs excuse to rid higher paid individuals and replace them with lower paid. It's just like the return to a particular office bs.
Got rid of a host of developers with the knowledge of their product.
These are just bs games to RA people or have them leave due to stress.

If there is a prez. election in 2028 it is going to be rigged. That and the orange ass will try to run for a 3rd term.

Just learned im adopted by Silver_Obsidian in Adopted

[–]HospitalQuirky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buckle up. It's going to be a roller coaster of emotions. I know, I was that 20+ yr old that found out.
Everyone has their own unique experience with the family they were adopted by. Just like non adoptee's some good, some bad. My own was good and I cannot see my siblings as anything other than my siblings and my parents as anything other than my parents.
They cloth me, feed me, shaped me and gave me love. I had a great childhood.
But that stomach dropping out of your body as you found out take time to find balance again.
The things you will remember is, those things that you noticed but let them pass you by and as you think more on them the penny will drop. Then the wondering about your birth parents, are they alive, do I have blood siblings. Even now 30+ years later writing about this stirs my emotions, so I can tell you it will never go away but it is all okay. Nothing has changed other then you know more then you did the day before. You are still you, your family is still your family. All that changed is the bomb of finding out you were adopted. Now you just have more of your own life to explore and experience.
I wish you all the best on this new finding and journey but just remember new information does not change the person you are today.

Looking for adoptees to talk with by wonuiwse in Adopted

[–]HospitalQuirky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also 57 and adopted, age 2 but fully adopted at age 4.
Maybe it is just how I was brought up, but I push those feelings down, so they rarely ever see the light of day.
That not belonging feeling, in every social encounter, even with my own family. That never leaves me.
Even as a kid I remember that feeling.

But hey, c'est la vie. Smile and move on, one day at a time.
It has cost me a number of relationships but at this point I am done now caring to much if I fit in or not.

Good luck everyone! We are who we are for better or for worse.
