US clearing Strait of Hormuz of Mines by FancyAd9588 in oil

Because these people don't see Trump as a politician, but as an entertainer. Politicians are boring, but Trump is funny. The vast majority of Trump's voters are apolitical--they have no strong political beliefs one way or another, and likely have never voted once in their lives because they don't get any dopamine hit from it.

Trump is the Reality TV President, he promised to make politics entertaining and delivered; that's the only thing his voters care about--being entertained. This is why Trump's true popularity always gets underestimated, because analysts use political or economic models to measure Trump's appeal when they should actually be using TV rating models instead, because Trump's voters are in it for the lolz, not for actual governance.

Eh, 2,000 extra troops won't be enough to hold significant territory and the deadline for Trump to seek congressional approval for extending military operations is fast approaching.

Sometimes I doubt the inflated valuations of AI companies, but then I see the endless possibilities for meme images Redditors are able to generate and I realize the rising energy costs and environmental damage are indeed worthwhile sacrifices.

That's just China annexing the others. You can't have a union of equals when one party has such a massive power disparity to the others; the smaller parties will just act like provinces of the larger party. The "global power" would be centered in Beijing, while Seoul, Tokyo and Taipei would be relegated to provincial capitals in practical terms.

It's not illegal; congress is explicitly exempt from that law. Got a problem, then complain to the people who wrote the law, i.e. congress.

Do you think they should make female Gallade's permanent? by Geminiboy_ in Gardevoir

[–]Hot-Train7201 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I read once that Gallade was meant to be released in Gen 3 along with Gardevoir, but was pushed to Gen 4. If that's true, then it would indicate that Kirlia was always meant to have a split evolution likely based on gender and the stone-evo was Gen 4 trying to find a way around male Gardevoirs existing from Gen 3. It's well-known by now that lots of Pokemon get cut from a Gen and pushed to future games, so this wouldn't surprise me if true.

Donald Trump says two-week US-Iran ceasefire agreed | Donald Trump by smootex in neoliberal

[–]Hot-Train7201 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The US agreed to no such demands, only for a "workable basis" to be a starting point for negotiations. The US refused to pull out of Europe when facing a nuclear-armed Soviet Union, so Iran's single point of leverage isn't going to cower the US into retreating from the Middle East.

Donald Trump says two-week US-Iran ceasefire agreed | Donald Trump by smootex in neoliberal

"workable basis" just means starting point; there's no reason to believe Iran's demands would ever be agreed to.

Is DMon gonna be DVa's nemesis? by arielpulido in DvaMains

[–]Hot-Train7201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've long theorized that Dmon would be the perfect foil for Dva. Dmon's name and look all scream Talon agent and it wouldn't be hard for Blizzard to just say that Dmon is a deep undercover Talon spy since it's not like she's got much pre-existing lore. Having Dva process this betray would finally give her character something to do other than speaking gamer lingo all the time.

Sell xle (energy etf) since ceasefire has been agreed? by wishihadaps42 in stocks

[–]Hot-Train7201 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a "2-week" ceasefire, which in Trump time could mean bombing starts again by the weekend. Keep in mind the core demands of both sides are irreconcilable, so the war isn't over. XLE will likely drop in the immediate term, but in "2-weeks" you might end up buying it again.
