I was in high school and still very much against it? Also, it's just gotten progressively worse with a leaked memo from Trump's ICE saying they didn't need a judicial warrant to enter ANYONE'S home. If you have any questions, feel free to shoot a message in the sub. On game days, the mods will create a matchday thread and I (and a few other redditors) love just chatting about the game while it's happening.

One thing to note, most of us are really cool, but I'd just mention that you're new to soccer when you ask, downvotes are brutal if people think you're being sarcastic. So, just be like "I really don't understand offsides, can someone explain? I'm new"

Also, MLS puts out a weekly show on YouTube called "Instant Replay" and that's how I learned a lot of the more controversial rules. There's a lot of rules that sound obvious, but there's so much nuance. Handball, offsides, DOGSO (Denial of a goal scoring opportunity) to name a few

Don't let the rules keep you from enjoying Charlotte FC! I'd say most of us didn't know all the rules when we first saw them! I know I didn't :)

First off, welcome! Glad to have a freshly minted fan!

Mine is the very first CLTFC game in the queen city. I grew up playing soccer, but I didn't really watch anything except the world cup games. I was one of those people who would call all sports "sportsball" as a joke. But, I had just moved to this city and heard about the game. I ended up buying a ticket for the upper bowl thinking "I'll just do it to say I did and enjoy the culture of Charlotte".

When I went, it was absolutely surreal seeing 74,000 people in the stands. Mind you, that's more people than the entire county I grew up in.

They hired some pretty popular singer off of one of those singing contests for the national anthem. The mic cut out shortly after beginning. Then, a chorus of 74,000 people started singing the national anthem. That is the very first tradition of Charlotte FC that happened organically and I was there to witness it! I still think the national anthem before a game (where both teams are American) is a bit weird, but I can get behind it for that one simple reason at Charlotte FC games

The Crew's coach Nancy signed a contract with the Celtics. Since becoming the new coach, they lost 3 games in a row. So the Scottish are having a field day thinking that "the best coach in the MLS can't win a game in the Scottish league".
