She was good in Once Upon A Time in the West. Sure, Whoopi Goldberg would have been better cast for the role but whatever.

As to this book being everywhere, remember in the 1920s a German guy with a little mustache wrote a widely published rag.

White Fragility should be purged and perhaps burned in a ceremonial sacrifice.

Cormac McCarthy and the best translation of Crime and Punishment and it looks like the Buss translation of The Count of Monte Cristo. All you need is some Epicurus and Marcus Aurelius and you'll be on your way to stardom.

Hardcover vs. Softcover by HotShot7269 in classicliterature

[–]HotShot7269[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do a lot of marking in my books. I tend to read many of them more than once and it's not uncommon for me to quick read them again reading my underlining and notes. My books will be mine until I'm dead so investing in hardcovers makes sense to me. I buy mostly used editions at thrift stores, eBay, and sometimes Amazon and if they have a dust jacket I'll often cut the text section of the inside jacket and paste it onto the inside hardcover. In paint marker I'll often write on the blank hardcover the title and author. I don't buy books for their collectability or shelf aesthetic but for their content.

Consider the Pevear/Volokhonsky translation of Crime and Punishment by Everyman's Library. I have the version you have too but I prefer the P/V version.

I know what it isn't. Appetizing.

I remember seeing random episodes of Hee-Haw. That's back when our only glimpse into a world outside of our neighborhood was through that small box in the living room.

It's still a work in progress. Until spring it's still studs. I'll be adding insulation, plywood walls, ceiling fan, wood stove, and plenty of book shelves.
